Returning to Ship after rand Cayman excursion

About how much time does it take to return to the ship after a Grand Cayman excursion? We should be finishing in the late afternoon, and I'm wondering what kind of a wait we should expect for the tenders. Thank you!

We were the first on the tender ship, so we had to wait for the boat to fill and then go back. It was about 20 minutes at 3:00 in the afternoon.

They run them constantly in the afternoon. We barely had enough time to grab some cucumber water before they were hustling us onboard.

If you are doing private excursion don't cut it close! Cayman isn't typically a long day in port.

I think you can count on about a 20 minute wait no matter what in the afternoon. If you aren't first in line for the boat, you'll still spend 20 minutes standing on the dock waiting to get on. Overall, the whole process takes about 45 minutes, but as long as you get to the port in time, you don't have to worry about not making the ship. If you are there, they will keep running tenders until everyone is aboard.

This is why we pay more to book our excursions through Disney if they're in the afternoon or close to port call time. You're guaranteed they'll have you back in time since they don't want to mess with losing the agreement with the cruise line. If it's a "come and go as you please" such as the sky ride in Tortola or a shorter close event like Ski-Doos than we may do direct versus through Disney.
