Renewing AP (Sorcerer)

Hi all, my AP expires this weekend. Was a DVC gold, and then renewed to a Sorcerer last fall. I think I’ve made the decision to renew over the next few days even though I only have one trip planned for next year so far.

Just want to make sure I have everything straight before I call member services. I can renew up to 30 days ahead and 60 days after, correct? And believe I’ve seen a quote of somewhere in the $800+ range for a DVC sorcerer renewal, does that sound right? Also I know they’re not selling APs right now but if they were selling a new Sorcerer what do we think the comparative price would be? I realize new AP‘s may not come back for a long time, if ever, and pricing is likely to change! Finally, are MS hours still 9 AM to 7 PM daily?

You can renew 60 prior to or 30 days after expiration of your AP. Yes you will have to telephone member services so they can verify you have an eligible DVC membershi.

We renewed in August at exactly 60 days prior. Our concern was what if Disney decided to cancel all pending renewals and stop the AP program all together? A price increase is always coming. We paid about $830 each (without looking it up). Losing this option would ruin our retirement plans!

When I spoke with member services last month, they indicated I had to renew though member services if I choose to do so, and it was approx $764 + tax, for a total of $814 to renew - last year when we purchased Sorcerer passes they were $899 + tax each...

You have up to 30 days after pass expiration to renew.

We have actually decided not to renew.

As far as member services hours I believe they are there from 9am - 9pm Eastern Time Mon-Fri, and 9am -7pm Sat & Sun - in my experience the later you call toward the last couple hours of the evening, the shorter the wait times tend to be,

And when you do renew make sure it is done properly. We renewed Sorcerer passes at 60-days before expiration. I did not do any immediate date checking after the transaction. About two months later, I did so and found that they had taken sixty days off my renewed pass, i.e., they renewed it for a year from the date I called to renew rather than the date the original pass was set to expire. Another phone call and some long conversations with two different people got it corrected.

When DH and I renewed, we added it to mine but not his, since I can download any photos that attach to his MDE but not mine (which would be very few!).

We did spend about a 1/2 hour one morning at the photo place at DHS and they were able to locate a couple of our photos after we gave them exact times and rides, but we had to go through dozens of photos with them before finding. Decided it wasn’t worth it after that. No idea why. None of the magic bands I was wearing were more than a year old.

Also, I believe I read somewhere that if you purchase Genie+ plus for the day it automatically gives you photo pass for that day. Does anyone know if that’s correct, even if you go to multiple parks same day?

When we renew early it always shows the wrong date on MDE until we “active” them the first time. Then it flips to the right expiration date immediately on MDE. So if it happens again- just wait until you use them the first time and it will show the correct date. No need to call. Happens every time.

I successfully renewed 3 DVC Sorcerer’s passes early on Saturday afternoon. Only a 2 minute wait for Member Services, and then another couple of minute wait for the specialist in MS who does these renewals. Pleasantly surprised with phone wait times! He was very thorough and even though I didn’t ask him to he had already gone in and checked and fixed renewal dates etc. So it does show properly on my MDE at this point even though I just renewed. Just as an FYI.

This past summer, they changed things so now your renewal is automatically activated when you call.

The dates listed are simply an extension of what you have and it’s no longer necessary to go to GS to activate
