I would LOVE to take my Boyfriend to Vegas for a few days in October for his birthday. The only problem is...I can't afford a REALLY expensive trip. Are there any Casinos/Hotels that aren't too expensive?? Does Vegas have all-inclusive type deals?? Any suggestions would be much appreciated as I know absolutely nothing about Las Vegas!!

there are hotel casinos for just about every budget. if you are really looking to save $, you may want to look at staying in downtown LV versus the strip. But there are times you can get a good deal on the strip too (under $100) BUT that being said, FRI and SAT nights are THE most expensive. On the strip, try Bally's, Flamingo, Monte Carlo, Luxor, maybe Harrah's too. Those would be your best bet. Downtown, the Golden Nugget is the only one I have spent any time at. You can spend as much or as little on food, etc as you want. I can give you more details, etc or answer any other specific questions! We go to Vegas 2-3 times a year! :thumbsup2

Does it matter to you if you stay on the strip? While you can probably find decent deals on places there, my sis and I went to Vegas in June. We stayed Sun-Thurs at TI, then drove out to the Grand Canyon overnight, then for our last night in Vegas, I pricelined a hotel. Got the Renaissance for $99 for the night. It's a NICE hotel near the convention center, just a block or two from the strip. For our first time to Vegas, staying on the strip was cool, but next time we go, we're going to Priceline again and get the Renaissance. We LOVED that place.

Oh! Vegas can be so reasonable. Watch the specials on Travelocity, Expedia, and Orbitz.

The Hooters hotel is right off the south end of the strip and it is really cheap! Nice rooms too!

Excalibur is usually reasonably priced. I've stayed there a few times, and it is really nice.

If I were you I would sign up for email promotions for all the hotels on the strip. When they offer up a deal that fits, take it!

Here are some of the hotels:
Mandalay Bay
Luxor
Excalibur
MGM Grand
Mirage
Harrah's
NewYork NewYork

Vegas isn't expensive because you can just visit each hotel and see all of the free stuff. You don't HAVE to spend money on shows because there is so much to see. You can get half price tickets at a booth by the M&M factory on the strip.

To eat, we usually did a buffet at breakfast right before the lunch turnover. Try 10:30. This gave us a huge choice of food for breakfast prices! We did the same in the afternoon at 3:30 or so. This gives you lunch/dinner at lunch prices! We only at two meals a day but since they were all-you-can eat buffets, that's really way more than enough! You can snack on ice cream or pretzels here and there.

Check the web for coupons for Las Vegas. There are LOTS out there!

Good luck!

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! Thanks sooo much for the replies!! Since it's the first time we've both been to Vegas I think I'm going to try for a Hotel on the strip. For this trip I'm looking to do a LITTLE gambling, have some nice meals, have some cocktails at night, and see what Vegas has to offer...and possible catch a show. I'll definitely do plenty of research and look for deals that you were all talking about!! Thanks so much!

Vegas can be done on a budget and nicely too.:thumbsup2 FYI, October is a busy month for conventions and may be hard to come by great room rates.

We are looking at a quick trip in Dec and standard rates are really good, so I am holding out for the specials.

Have fun planning, it's as fun planning for LV as it is WDW!

I am going to Vegas August 1-4 and staying in the Monte Carlo. It is costing me $325 and that includes airfare and a shuttle to/from the airport. I booked it through Travelocity.

Also check out fatwallet.org. Look in the forums, then search for Vegas hotel deals. There's a thread that lists all the available promotions for all the strip hotels. Some require you to sign up for their free players club, others are for anyone.

I would stay away from Circus Circus and Stratosphere if I were you. They usually have cheap rooms, but you sacrafice quality big time. Plus you are so far removed from the rest of the strip, it's really not worth it in my opinion.

Two suggestions.

First, check the hotel websites, I stay at the Flamingo and you can open a calendar and see their prices every day for a few months. I have stayed for $59 a night, on the strip, in a very nice room. Also check Ballys.

Second, check to see if Allegiant Airlines flies to your city. I believe they mainly fly to/from Vegas and appear to have great package deals.

Go to www.travel2vegas.com. Look for their messageboard and look in the Hotel deals section. They keep on top of most of the specials out there, and they also have lots of good Vegas info.

On my last trip, I won a SkyAuction week, and the whole week cost us right at $285 total (inc the $195 SkyAuction fee). We stayed at Carriage House. It's not right on the strip, but it's only a couple of blocks away on Harmon behind and across the street from Planet Hollywood/old Aladdin. Nothing fancy but good for the price!

It is definitely possible. Checkout Southwest.com for offers as well as www.i4vegas.com . I also really recommend www.cheapovegas.com as a source for some great tips. On our most recent trip in January, DH and I went to Vegas and stayed Downtown as well as right off the Strip. Off the Strip we stayed in a great place called Tuscany Suites. Great, HUGE room and at a really great price. Not far from the Strip at all. I also really recommend renting a car. Transportation to and from the airport as well as getting around Vegas can be kind of pricey. We were able to get a mid sized car for 3 days for less than $50 total thru National. Check mousesavers.com for some discount codes for rental car companies (most of which are valid anywhere!) Having a car makes it really easy to go from casino to casino and see some sights away from the city like Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon, etc. If you have a car then you can also take advantage of some off-strip food & gaming coupons to help save some money. When we had our car we drove around constantly and spent less than $20 on gas! Much, much cheaper than cabs and far more convenient than the bus/trolley.

Don't rule out staying Downtown. It can be alot of fun as well. The Golden Nugget is nice but can be as pricey as Strip hotels. We stayed at Fitzgerald's and really liked it. It is in a good location, recently renovated & big rooms and really cheap prices (I think we paid $35 a night.) If you are Downtown and you like shrimp, make sure to go to the Golden Gate for their $.99 shrimp cocktail. It is FANTASTIC and really filling!

Make usre to get pick up the coupons books that you can find at practically every check-in or bell services desk. Lots of great coupons for food and gaming in there. Also, always sign up for the players cards. Most places give you some free play when you sign up for their cards!

Two things I recommend you spend a little extra on. First is a meal at Le Village Buffet at Paris. It is absolutely fantastic. My favorite is the breakfast but the dinner is fantastic as well. It is a bit pricey ~$20+ a person but much cheaper than other sit down resturants. Second splurge is a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower at night. It is a breathtaking view and it is really romantic. I think it is about $9 per person but you can find coupons for it :thumbsup2

Vegas is a ton of fun and can be done on the cheap. You just have to do a little more planning. Have fun :)

Adding one more site. This saved me almost just over $300 on the Luxor towers vs. the Luxor web site.

Do check out the hotels. They are "themed".

If you do a strip one you can pretty much get cheap transportation to any of the hotels or walk. The map of the strip is deceiving as those are some huge long blocks.:rolleyes1 Shuttles outside of baggage claim will take you to your hotel (I think it is $6 one way or thereabouts). Cabs under $20. If you take a cab ask the rate first because I had one that asked if it was okay to take the freeway to avoid traffic. It was $13 more! You do not need a rental car.

Look for ones with a food court. While there are many great food deals in Vegas sometimes it is nice to just "stay home".

Take a water bottle, you will go through gallons.

Tons of freebies to amuse you. Do your homework.

Trick I learned from a friend. If you gamble plan a budget and stick to it. That days money goes in one pocket. Cash out if over $100 and put that money in another pocket. It is kind of amazing that you might actually go home with cash but you may. :woohoo:

Lots of great replies here and tons of information but I would try to get a ding airfare through swa and book hotel with an offer through their own website. The best advice being a newbie to vegas is buy the AGM book. It is absolutely the best for free offers and litterally pays for itself in one coupon. My wife had gone probably 20 or so times and then we found the book and we absolutely saved a ton of money and had a great time. Just my two cents!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't rule out the Sahara. It is on the north end of the strip and is nothing fancy but it is clean and the employees are about the friendliest there are. I stayed there two trips. My g.f. had stayed there several times and she recommended asking for the nicer tower. I wish I could remember which name was which but the nicer tower usually runs around $5 or so more per night per room I believe. You can also sign up for their email newsletter for specials.

Fri/Sat will also be higher there but I have stayed as low as $45 per night there. It is nothing super fancy. I equate it with a midwest Super 8. But clean comfortable and nice nice employees. They have a 24 hour cafe (good decent food) and a buffet that reviews range from great to horrible, LOL. We ate breakfast buffet a couple of times and I thought it was very very good. Awesome coffee too. I love a decent cup of coffee in the morning. It was too cold on my other trips for the pool but I thought it was a gorgeous looking pool set-up - very nice.

You will be at the top of the strip, however, the monorail runs right up to the Sahara. You can buy a ticket where you can share the rides.

Now my favorite? Paris, LOL. But unless you have gambled a lot on their players card it is probably out of price range.

Mom & I are considering a trip in Sept...she just got a coupon for 3 free nights at Bally's, free entry into video poker tourney, and $50 for food. Allegiant has $175 direct flights, and we need one room Sunday night before Labor Day...found the Fitz on expedia for $46!!!!! (always wanted to stay downtown...but probably not for more than one night, so perfect!) So for about $200 each we have covered air & room! WOW! (now if only I could get free gambling....:rotfl: )

We just went to Vegas in May (Sunday-Thursday Memorial Day week). Staying during the week is definitely cheaper than on the weekend. I had booked a standard room at the Flamingo 5 months before but I kept checking the website because they have "hot deals" for certain days/weeks. A couple of months before some of the nights we were staying had gone down by $20-30 each. I ended up saving about $100 just by checking the website and it was a holiday week so I was pretty happy. Of course, once we got there we upgraded for an extra $50 a night but that's another story :rotfl: . It was worth it though. Loved the Flamingo, it was right in the middle of everything. The best part was that Casino Royale and Harrah's is right next door and Casino Royale has $1 frozen margaritas or $1 Michelobs. The margaritas aren't big but for a $1 you can't beat it. Not to mention there is free entertainment in this courtyard between Imperial Palace and Casino Royale. We flew Southwest which had the cheapest fares. I had airmiles with Capital One credit card so ended up flying for free. So all in all, the trip cost us $400 excluding spending money. We had one expensive night (anniversary) where we saw Cirque du Soleil Mystere and the show was amazing. I had bought the tickets months before so it didn't hurt as much. Have a great trip. www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums usually has a listing of all the specials going on. You can check that out too.

As others have said, if you can go Sunday - Thursday, hotels will be much less expensive. The Flamingo would be a perfect choice for you - it can be very reasonable and is in a perfect location on the Strip.

October will be more expensive than any of the offers in the Summer. Rooms are cheap in the summer because of the extreme heat. October is very popular for conventions because the weather is nearly perfect.

Go to the hotel websites and register for e-mail promotions.

Also, keep an eye on travel2vegas.com. Go to the message boards and there is a thread on hotel discounts. This could be very helpful.

Good luck.
