You are exactly right! It's best to clarify what you don't understand before you're in the park so park day goes smoothly. But yes, I believe for this topic, whenever force close is mentioned, they mean exactly what you said for #2.

It is tough, as if you’re not planning on multiple HS visits it starts to take over the trip. However MFSR and GE in general are great fun and even without riding ROTR are an unmissable experience. May the force be with you.

Thank you for explaining!! This is exactly what I was confused about. Also, is it weird that I don’t get fireworks when i open the app? I just have a blue screen and the castle.

So do you never get the Mickey fireworks?

Have you done the full shutdown of the app and reopened recently? Do you usually do #1 in @ninafeliz post?

I don’t have experience of never getting the fireworks so I’ll defer to someone who may also get this. But wanted to clarify.

I imagine you’ve done this, but completely exit the app and then shut your phone off and restart it. Then see if you see fireworks?

I turned the whole phone off... restarted it... went to The Disney World app and I got first the castle... then it kind of did a glitchy shutter and then went to the front page where it asked me to sign in. No Mickey or fireworks.

There are definitely people who do not get a boarding group, especially in the past few days since they've significantly cut back on the number of BGs issued.

They are now boarding Groups 30 - 48. Backups started at 47. We are officially into Backups before 12:00.

This board helped me on our trip last week so I'll post my experience:

Thursday, February 13, 2020
6:30am - Got an Uber from Coronado Springs
6:45am - Through bag line (stayed right)
6:55am - Through magic band scan (no finger prints)
7:00am - Lined up by the tunnel to Galaxy's Edge
7:55am - Closed down MDE app and all other apps
7:56am - Opened app back up
8:00am - Got BOARDING GROUP 10 (which was the first BG of the day, per this blog)
9:48am - Got the text to ride
10:15am - Showed up to ride and ROTR was down (it was down for most of the morning)
11:45am - ROTR up again and we went to ride
12:25pm - We got stuck about 3/4 of the way through. We sat on the ride for 30 minutes. We had to walk off the ride and were escorted down a back stairway. Cast Members were waiting with lots of snacks and drinks. They gave us a FP to ride ROTR again plus a FP for Smugglers RUN (which doesn't even start FPs until today). Thanks DISNEY!
5pm - Went back on ROTR and it was awesome!

**TIPS**
iPhone Xs, Verizon
Turn off WIFI, turn on Location, close all apps and reopen. We also upgraded our Verizon plan before we left to help with congested areas! My husband tried and stopped when I got BG 10. The people next to be got 76 and 126, and didn't ride that day.

It was FANTASTIC and my 7 and 3 year old loved it too! Thankfully for this blog for all the tips!

As a thread mostly frequented by educated/knowledgable planners (many of whom are likely using help from friends and other tricks), my opinion is places like this will naturally have more success than failure posts.

Although there are failure posts sprinkled here and there since the BG fill timing has shifted to the 1-2 minute range. I see more such traffic on Twitter and other places than I do here. Just my take.

Although barring catastrophe (of which I still have bad flashbacks of my own, so it can happen) with 1-2 minutes most should still get a BG. Where in that sequence is more the lottery, of course.

I never got the fireworks on my iPhone 5S, although it hasn’t run the app at all since the last big update.
When I saw them for the first time on my daughters iphone SE I was surprised.
