@PollyannaMom Sending prayers and best wishes for your son. I hope he can find a good doctor who can really get to the issues.
Thanks :)

He was much happier with the doctor he saw today, and (🤞fingers crossed! ) feels a lot better this afternoon than he did this morning. I'm hoping he sleeps well, because I think that will help a lot too.

Lasagna was the first thing that popped into my mind as well.
It's currently at the top of the list since we haven't had it it in a long time.
Hey you kids, get off my grass.
:lmao:
Thanks :)

Oh good, I'm glad he's feeling better and feeling good about the Dr. he saw. I agree with you about sleep, I think it goes a long way toward helping a body heal.

Welp, almost time to head home. On tonight's agenda is building a fire, switching the laundry and straightening up the basement. Then I need to make a menu & a to-do list for this weekend (having youngest future in-laws over for lunch Sunday). I'll bring down the tree ornaments and maybe we will finally get around to decorating the tree...for some odd reason neither of us is terribly motivated to trim the tree - not for any particular reason. We'll get started to catching a Christmas movie or three before the 25th by watching White Christmas while we put the ornaments on. Oh yeah, dinner. I'm not sure what I'm going to make. It may be a salad/soup combo kinda night.

Good evening Quackers.

@PollyannaMom Glad to hear you son is feeling better and found a Dr. that he feels comfortable with and likes.

@Breezy_Carol The program was presented during the kids annual Christmas program/play. It is a Sunday that the kids pretty much take over the service. So, not during Christmas Eve or really even a "traditional" Sunday, so to speak. I had to laugh cause nothing about how you write comes across as a "get off my grass" type of person. I honestly am too a bit like that in some areas though, and I think as with most things there is a time and a place for everything, and I supposed I'd need to know the context of how Santa will be presented during the service before I could honestly say if I agreed with it or not. For our play it was definitely a day where it was expected for the kids to put on a program for the message. Hope that makes sense.

I don't know much else tonight. Hope everyone can rest well.

OMGosh you guys...my DH found two dogs this morning on his way home from a job site. There were on a busy road and almost got hit by him and another car...when he got out to try and get them out of the street, they jumped in the car. So he brought them home to put in the yard while he had some phone meetings, I posted to couple lost/found pet Facebook pages. When DH was done with his meetings, he took them to check if they were chipped, one was, the other wasn't. A message was sent through the chip company but we still haven't heard from anyone. Shelter is closed on Mondays...we were thinking we could keep here until we found their owners but they are a handful so they will have to go to the shelter tomorrow morning when they open up...both are boys, one is fixed, the other is not and he seems to be a bit aggressive...thankfully not to us but we are definitely keeping him away from Dolly. Of course, it's been cold and rainy today so we've had to put them in our enclosed patio off and on and they aren't happy in there.

DH has to go to work at a job site for a few hours in the morning so I'm stressed about dealing with them and being able to let Dolly out to go potty while he's gone.

In all the chaos I had to run to the PO to mail something for DD so I was happy to get a little break...lol Then I stopped at our friends house to see Baby Ana and give her a book we bought her on our trip. She was happy to see me and really liked the book.

Hope you all have a good night and I hope tomorrow is less of a crazy for me...lol

@AuntieMe3 Bless you and your DH for taking those dogs in - and saving their lives! All the rescue websites make it look so easy, but it’s really not, is it! Maybe your doggie in Heaven guided them your husband’s way knowing he would help them! They’ll be safer at the shelter and 🙏🏻 they can reconnect at least the chipped one with their owner again. We rescued a cat and some kittens one winter. They were living under our shed. We wound up having to keep them because the shelters were all full. Our dog at the time was fine with them, but Mama wanted nothing to do with her, and would even go after her if she went near them, so it became really hard to deal with. Thankfully a friend took Mama (and she lived a long and happy life) and we also found homes for the two feral kitties after they got fixed and vaccinated.

Thank you for your good thoughts and prayers. DH had a good appt yesterday, so I know they helped. DH took the train in and DD and I waited for him after our shift in the car so we could rest. It was 24 degrees out, so we were cold! But we’d brought blankets and kept turning the car and heated seats on intermittently. He scared DD when she opened her eyes and a man was tapping at her window, lol. On the way home we took him to a couple of our haunts that we often hit and he got a kick out of it, so that was fun. Thankfully he can continue to see his regular doctor but it was good to have the reassurance of a specialist.

@PollyannaMom I’m sorry to hear your son was feeling unwell again, but glad he’s doing better. Prayers for continued wellness. 🙏🏻

Enjoying hearing about everyone’s holiday activities, cooking and ceremonies and such. Everything sounds wonderful. 🥰 We still have to get our tree up, hopefully in the next day or two. I think I mentioned last year we have one that is already lighted and decorated, so it doesn’t take long, lol. And maybe just a few other things, especially our nativity. I really have to start getting ready for travel. Although I managed to get time off, my schedule has been weird and unusual, so I feel a little out of sorts. But we will get it all done. We hit the credit union on our way home yesterday, it’s nice to have our vacation funds taken out without even seeing them gone.

Some of us are putting a little something together for a patient who has been with us for an extended time. We were thinking a stocking, with some small gifts. Looking for help with ideas for what I could contribute, if you have any. Candy and sweets are limited for health reasons. She has a lot of toiletries that she uses already, and blankets. Family brings her in a lot. @easy mentioned scratch tickets, that might be an idea, for fun. I was also thinking maybe some warm socks, but she’s more of a barefoot type person, I think. She doesn’t go outside really. She has a lot of holiday decorations already. So it’s challenging. Thought you guys might enjoy helping me think. She could also use prayers.

The other lady I mentioned the other day was in much better spirits when I saw her later, thankfully. When I was leaving, she thanked me, hugged me, told me she won’t forget me, and that she loved me. 🤧 Someone like that really makes up for any difficulty we might have with others. I am always surprised at the number of patients who tell me they love me after our relatively short encounters, but on the other hand it makes my heart happy when people are so loving and giving of themselves to say something like that. There really are still lots of good people in our world, which is good to see and remember when times get tough. I will never forget caring for a priest once who told me that Jesus is with me during such encounters. I try to keep that in mind when I am caring for patients.

Take later. Have a good day, everyone! 🐥

@Pea-n-Me Glad your DH is doing well. Again, you are so caring with your patients. They are so fortunate to have you as their nurse. It is so kind of you to think of a stocking. I give things like toothbrushes, small dish towels. chapstick, little jewelry like a bracelet or a pin, those small gloves for days when it is chilly. Is there anything she can eat that will fit into a stocking like nuts or small crackers?

@AuntieMe3 Thank you r husband for taking care of the dogs. It was so kind. I hope their is a good shelter that can care for them until they are found my their owners or get a new home. I am always of 2 minds when dogs are found roaming like that. Do I really want them to go back to their owners to maybe have that happen again with a bad ending for the dogs or so I want them back in their home.

It is a cold one here, 23 degrees. Walk is definitely waiting until around 8. I am interested to see how my couch looks in the second bedroom which is my office.

Have a good day.

Hello everyone, Life has been really hard. Kris is really struggling, was in the hospital all last week and goes back today for a procedure. It is so hard to watch the decline. Pea-n-me, I wish we had, had a nurse like you.You really are an exception.
Our DD’s wedding is this weekend, and I am so worried that I won’t be able to keep it together. Tears are streaming down my face just writing this. She so wants him to be there but I just don’t know if it will happen. I don’ t want her special day to be filled with sadness. She planned the wedding quickly in hopes her wonderful Dad could be there. In hind sight I wish she wouldn’t have.
I sure could use some tips on how to keep my emotions in check during the wedding. It is an open bar😂 just kidding that could be a disaster.

Good for him for getting them out of harms way, poor things. Hope they get back to where they came from if appropriate.

This is so heartwarming to read...the only thing I can think of to add to the stocking would maybe be a Barnes & Nobel or Amazon gift card for a book/magazine to help pass the time? Or a book you guys think the person would be interested in.

Oh geez, I'm sorry to read that the road has been rough of late. I wish I had something meaningful to suggest - I guess what would work for me is to get it all out before hand, even if it's just 30 minutes before. Acknowledge the feelings (as difficult as it will be) you are having and allow the response to those feelings to freely flow in a way that works for you vs. trying to keep your **** together so-to-speak during the wedding. I do understand what you mean by thinking that in hind sight the scheduling of the event might have been better at a different time, but emotions are so high for your family right now that I can see how your daughter came to her decision. I don't know that any of that helps - I try to put myself in your place with my answers but you & I both know it's one thing to try, and another to be actively living it. You & your family are in my thoughts this weekend.

Good cold morning. Now we have a storm watch for Thursday, for a 'significant amount of snow', which means the markets are going to be packed today. Around here, people seem to think that when we get snow, they will be snowed in for a week. Coming from New England, I know that's not the case. Even with all the snow up there, people are out and about the next day

@dazedx3--I will add my prayers for Kris, and for your daughter's wedding. Easyas had a good suggestion, try and get it all out just a little while before the ceremony, that might help you get through it at least a little bit.

@Pea-n-Me You are so thoughtful to your patients. Does that lady do crossword puzzles? Maybe a couple of them rolled up in the stocking, with some pens?

@AuntieMe3 Your husband is a dog magnet all of a sudden. Those poor dogs must have been scared to death, to jump into the car with a stranger. Thank you for taking care of them.

Off to get ready, have a good morning

Mothers are allowed to cry at weddings. I hope it happens for both Kris and your DD.

I wish you had Pea also. She seems filled with compassion and is not afraid to show it.

One of my college friends was a nurse. I saw the job through her eyes. It's certainly not always easy. Some nurses detach themselves, I think so that they can keep serving.

It's your DD's special day. She's got a wish. I'm sure if it happens it will be bittersweet, but I doubt she would trade a later wedding for the one she hopes to have. A delayed wedding would probably leave her regret filled.

Anyway, my way of keeping the tears to a minimum was to have plenty of kleenex available.

PollyannaMom:hug:, much prayer that your son feels a whole lot better in the morning.
Today is not as good as yesterday, but still better than the worst days. Please keep up the prayers & good thoughts.

We hit the credit union on our way home yesterday, it’s nice to have our vacation funds taken out without even seeing them gone.
That's a good idea!

I like Lynn's puzzle book & pens idea for stocking stuffers. Maybe you could find some really fun pens - I remember when I was subbing, I used to find good ones at touristy gift shops. The kids always liked to see what one I'd bring.

Does she like her nails done? Maybe some new colors?

Hello everyone, Life has been really hard. Kris is really struggling,..
 :grouphug: I wish I could think of something wise to say, but I know not much really helps.

I do think she's right to have the wedding now. My mom made mine by only about three months, I know it was important to her, and it's precious to me that she was there.

DH had a good appt yesterday
So glad DH had a good appointment and I'm so excited to hear about your trip when you come back. When we were dog less, we were talking taking a family trip that hasn't happened in a few years because someone has always had to stay home with the dogs...lol Now we'll just have to plan something where she can go with us.

As for your patients gift, does she do any puzzle type books...like crosswords, word search, sudoku...etc...Maybe some of those or a nice notebook and pen. My mom would've loved you as her nurse and you would've loved her as a patient..almost all of hers did. ❤️

am always of 2 minds when dogs are found roaming like that. Do I really want them to go back to their owners to maybe have that happen again with a bad ending for t
Me too...they seem well taken care of, they were clean and well fed but some of there behaviors have DH thinking their owners aren't very nice.

I sure could use some tips on how to keep my emotions in check during the wedding.
No tips but just a lot of love and prayers coming your way. ❤️

Hope they get back to where they came from if appropriate.
Hopefully...one is chipped and fixed the other is not either of those but they seem to be brothers maybe so I dont understand why one would be and not the other. The one that isn't is also a little aggressive with the other, it's weird because they BOTH do not want to be separated. I hope their owners are found but if not I hope they can find a good one....the chipped, fixed one is super sweet and DH wouldn't mind giving him a home but we couldn't handle the both of them especially now that we have Dolly.

Your husband is a dog magnet all of a sudden.
He actually has always been...lol. He just shut that part of himself off after the loss of our boys. Like I said above, he would've planned to keep them if their owners aren't found if we didn't have Dolly. LOL

This morning wasn't as hectic as I was expecting but still tough. We locked them in the enclosed patio last night because it was cold and so I could let Dolly out to potty when she needed. DH let them out when he got up and then closed them back up before he left. When Dolly and I woke up, I let her out, she went potty, ran around a bit and then after I put her in the house I let them out out again. DH is currently taking them one at a time to the shelter, they are too much to handle together. We feel bad but we had to do it. Hopefully they will be reunited with their owners or get adopted.

Hope you all have a great day...I need to do a pick up at the mall but might wait until they open tomorrow so it's less crowded. I need to make a list of everything I've bought and what I still need to get. I decided, decoration wise, what's up is up and I'm not doing anymore. LOL other than what DH did with our front room tree, I still haven't put it up so it's just going back in the patio until next year. LOL

@dazedx3 As Judique said, mothers cry at weddings and even before the wedding. Just keep some kleenex nearby. I wish you, Kris, and your DD a day filled with family and love. It may be bittersweet but it will be a day to be together for such a blessing as your DD's wedding. I hope and pray that it is a good day for Kris.

@PollyannaMom I hope your DS gets better soon.

My couch arrived and it fits perfectly in the space. It does add alot to my office. The blue color is perfect. While I was waiting for the delivery in the lobby I talked with my acquaintance who knows so much about this place. She is thinking of moving in the Spring. She has been here since they were built but is tired of all the issues and figures that there are more to come as these condos get older.

It is a bit warmer here now, around 40. There is a wind so it feels chilly when walking in the shade but the sun feels good. I ended up vacuuming and washing the laminate floors today. I was going to do half today and half tomorrow but just decided to get it all done. I do it once a month so good for December. Now I have to plan out when to do the little bit of baking I do. I will probably do the sugar cookies next Tuesday, the chocolate cake squares on Thursday the 22nd, and when I get to Kenny's on Friday the 23rd I will make the pumpkin pastries. That is a new recipe I found which is so easy. My oldest grandson said he loves pumpkin pie so I thought I would try these.

Have a good afternoon and evening.

Good Afternoon friends,

The new layout is sure different on her. Scrunched screen with lots of dark blue on the right side. I prefer the old view! Oh well. Grateful, always, this site is up and running and through it we can all connect each day.

Guess what came at almost 9pm last night? Mail! We didn’t see who the carrier was, just heard a package being dropped by our door. I felt so badly for whoever was delivering mail out in the dark and cold. Extra grateful that is for sure. I just finished chatting with Amazon about a Christmas gift for my cousin Ruth that was supposed to arrive on Friday but has yet to get to her. Great customer service. The representative apologized and said the fanny pack we got Ruth appears lost in transit. He issued a free replacement to get to her by Saturday. We’re still waiting here for an Amazon surprise Steve and Ruth sent my dad for Christmas. FYI to absolutely order or mail anything way ahead of time!
Dad, we are so blessed by the Good Lord, continues to feel a ton better. Prayers extra please for him tomorrow as he has a morning doctor’s appointment. I may have already shared that he rescheduled his dentist appointment to Thursday morning, 12/22.

:thanks:for your explanation, Frog! I absolutely love that the kids put on that play. I would enjoy reading it should you ever find it.

Big hug, AuntiMe3! God Bless you and your DH! Huge thank you both for
rescuing those two :dogdance:and providing them a safe and loving home. Prayers for a happy reunion for them with their families.

Thank you, kindly dear Pea, along with your husband for rescuing all of those 🐈 years ago. Praises and thanks to God extra for a good doctor’s visit for your husband yesterday as well. Yikes to that frigid weather. I would absolutely be frozen in that climate. I am so excited and happy for you about your upcoming WDW trip. I do so look forward to hearing about and seeing some pictures of all the fun you had with ! Forever all my loving gratitude for the compassionate, faithful, excellent care you provide to all you meet at the hospital and beyond. God Bless all of you for filling a stocking for that patient. What about a small Christmas-y stuffed animal? Does she like to read do you know? Perhaps a Christmas devotional or fiction book. Whatever you decide on, it will be received with the kind spirit of thanks in which it was given and make a difference to the lady! Amen! Jesus absolutely is using you to bring Him closer to patients, reminder that He is with them, they are loved, and of course, that you care so much, too. Who you are makes such a difference:grouphug:

I'm glad to read that the weather warmed up a little dear Snowysmom! I forgot. May your new blue 🛋️work well for you. Goodies sound delicious! I'd love to help you bake them.

Dear Dazed, :grouphug: with extra loving prayers all-around, my friend. You and Kris are cared about by all of us so much. Congratulations to your daughter and her soon to be husband. Of course, you know I pray that your DH will be able to attend her wedding. I do know by the Grace of God, that even should Kris not physically be able to be present, in spirit he will be there. He really will. I know nothing (and admit to having no interest in learning about either) such things as Zoom or Skype. Would such a thing be a possible way for Kris to get to watch the wedding live and/or participate virtually? I pray so! Meantime and always, we care and are here.

A gift card to a bookstore is a great idea, Easyas! That way the patient can also be sure to pick out a 📕 she would enjoy. Thank you also for the kind advice you gave to Dazed.

Lynn, I truly hope it also warmed up a little for you out there and that your shopping went quickly and well. Your ❄️description is how some handle any type of rain out here! Stay safe please. A puzzle book is always fun, too!

Wishing you a good Tuesday, Maple Moose!🌸

ITA with all your kind words as well, dear Judique:hug:. How are your grand-daughters doing? Prayers school is going safely and well for them.

Continuing prayers for your son absolutely, PollyannaMom and of course you, too! I can only imagine the toll this once again may be taking on you and your DH. Big :grouphug:and remember we all are here with loving support and care.

Have a good rest of the afternoon, friends. Please do take care and stay warm!

Getting the same thing here. Posts all off to one side and a dark blue box on the right. People on the tech board are complaining about that and about having split screens, so hopefully they fix it soon.

We are home, finally and I have all groceries put away. His Dr didn't take him on time, so that threw us off by almost 45 minutes. Then Aldi's was really busy, as was Walmart. Now they are predicting freezing rain tomorrow night into Thursday instead of snow. So everyone was stocking up. Then I went to Lowes to look at tiles for the bathroom wall. Too many choices! I wanted an under counter light for the kitchen. It wasn't in the row they claimed it was. Some lady finally found it 3 rows over. I told her I wasn't leaving until I opened the box and made sure the bracket was there. We have another one and the bracket was missing from it when we got it. There were 10 lights on the shelf. We had to open 8 of them to find one that had a bracket. At $30 a light, you would think they would seal the ends of the boxes so noone could take them out?
Dinner is going to be seafood salad over a regular salad with cottage cheese and fruit. I am too tired to do anything else.

Have a nice evening all

Oh this is funny,,My sister in law had a lumbar puncture on Friday. I forget what for, but of course because they told her she 'might' get a headache, she worked herself into one. She went to the ER to get a pain patch yesterday, then decided against it because someone told her she could get an infection in her brain from it. So this morning she texts me and says 'I am going to the ER again,,but I'm beginning to think I'm a hypocondriac'? Beginning to think??? LOL She has been one for years and years!!!
