Finally, decided to take the plunge with an Alaskan cruise that DS has requested for some time. We’ll be going on the Serenade of the Seas out of the Vancouver In late June 2022. Any suggestion for a pre-cruise hotel in Vancouver? If we fly into Seattle, is the ferry or Amtrak the better option? Any thoughts on the Serenade of the Seas? We have only done the huge Oasis class ships. It will be DH, DS15 and me.

Love loved loved Pan Pacific. This hotel was so nice and was right at the Terminal where our cruise ship was at. So very convenient. We sailed Norwegin: a number of years ago. Have fun!

There is no Seattle to Vancouver ferry. You either fly, Amtrak or Greyhound into Vancouver.

In terms of hotels, it depends on your budget. It costs significantly more to staying at the cruise terminal hotels. Blue Horizon is a popular budget hotel for cruisers.

We did the train a few years ago, took the early morning one which gave us the afternoon to walk around Vancouver. But I wouldn't make any firm plans since the train encountered a number of slow zones or even stops for allowing freight traffic to pass, got in 90 minutes late. If you go Amtrak make sure it's the train, they also sell some bus trips.

As mentioned the Pan Pacific, if you aren't scared of their prices, is very nice and the convince of having their bell staff take the bags down to the cruise line for you is a big plus.

Please fly directly into Vancouver. Seattle is a good three hours away and that's without border issues or traffic. Don't risk it!!!
Our cruise ended in Vancouver and we took the train back to Seattle, it was super quick and easy. Of course the price difference between flying back from Vancouver and flying back from Seattle was something like $500 a person at the time, so it was obvious what we were going to do since the rain was only about $30 for both of us.

As for a hotel, one we stayed at in Vancouver and loved was Skwachàys Lodge, which has a first nation (their term for native American) theme and supports first nation's members, really a fun, different hotel.

We loved the Pan Pacific too! Super convenient and fun watching the ships sail in

We also loved the Pan Pacific and the free luggage transfer to our cruise stateroom. Definitely recommend that you find a hotel that will do the luggage transfer for you, if possible.
