Please help me choose MGM eatery!

My friend is flying in for a short trip in May and we are planning an MGM trip for one day. (we are new mothers so we don't get to do this often anymore)
I have PS ressies at Brown Derby, but after reading thru the posts here it looks like 50's Prime Time is alot of fun - if you get the right server. Which would you choose of the 3 (brown Derby, 50's or Mama Melrose), and why if you feel like telling...thanks!!

It really depends on what type of meal you would like! If you want fun atmosphere with mom's good home cooking, then Prime Time! *PBJ shakes are to die for!* If you want a more refined atmosphere with a more gourmet meal *but certainly not the top end* then I would go with Brown Derby! I have not eaten at MM's so I can't speak on that choice. We love both of the restaurants for different reasons, and are planning on eating at both of them during our Easter trip!

They are all so completely different!
50's for fun, food is okay, need teh right server.
Mama's for food, nice Italian food reasoable priced, loved teh risotto.
Brown Derby, well I didn't care for it & it was very expensive for average food at best.

CPM, that is what I fear...don't want to over pay for mediocre food. We are not looking for 5 start dining, we want to have good food and fun, really.

Then *I* would go for Prime time. Don't for get you are only a hop skip & a jump from the BW!!
MGM is one of my least favorite spots for food, I really think they could do better. My kids like the Sci Fi diner, I go there for their pleasure and that it! LOL

DH and I have eaten at all three, and I would chose the Brown Derby, by far the best food, in our opinion, out of the three. If you want a relaxed, unhurried, and "quiet" lunch, with interesting and very good meal choices, the go with the Brown Derby. Mama Melrose's has an Italian bistro type atmosphere, good pizzas, okay pasta dishes, and looks like your average Italian restaurant. Prime Time is the most "fun" of the three, if that is what you are looking for, but alot more crowded and noisy, with a menu that is good, but not as "sophisticated" as the Brown Derby. I think that if I were only going to be spending a short amount of time with a friend, I would choose the Brown Derby, because at least I would be able to hear the conversation I was having with her. If you do go to the Brown Derby, the oyster and corn chowder soup is amazing.

If you go to www.wdwig.com, and check out the lunch menu prices, you will find there really isn't much difference in menu prices between the three restaurants, but, in my opinion, the food is much better at the Brown Derby. Having said that, I do enjoy all three restaurants for different reasons.

First of all, I have been to all three of these restaurants, numerous times, and I really enjoy all of them. They are all very different, and they all, in my experience, have good food. But, for your poll, I voted for Brown Derby and this is why. You are two new mom's who don't get the chance, "to do this very often", as you say. So, I am surprised to see the majority of votes coming in for Prime Time...I mean you are new moms and people are thinking you should go to a restaurant where you will be waited on by a "mom" and treated like a "kid"? How about leaving your "mom" role for a day, and trying something that is not akin to your day-to-day life? The Brown Derby is a nice oasis in the middle of MGM, and has great food and service. The atmosphere there would lend itself to a nice conversation with your friend. So, I vote you stick with your original plan and eat at the Brown Derby! I know you will have fun wherever you decide to go though!

It's our favorite MGM dining venue,always good food and sevice.PTC experience can vari greatly on server you have.We enjoy the BD,just love Mama Melrose.

I chose 50s Prime Time although if you had Sci-Fi Dine-In, I would have chose that. The atmosphere is great and the burgers are too.

I agree with you, but we have been to Sci-Fi and want to try another place. Because I live in Florida I get the chance to do it again but my friend lives in NY so she really wants something new. Thanks for your input...and I looked at your pics (i am bored at work LOL) you have a beautiful family!

It depends on what you want......all 3 are completely different. We can't stand 50's Prime Time. Tried it on two different occasions and didn't like it either time. OK food, less than OK atmosphere and TERRIBLE service. We'll never go back there.

I know it's not on your list but, if I were you, I'd pick the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. It's such a FUN place to eat.......and we've never had a bad meal there.
