Sometimes it's the CHICKS in the family that are the sports fans, not the MEN. DD19 and I are rabid fans of the Red Sox/Patriots (she's baseball, I'm football), and if they had decent draws for ESPN weekend (rather than the second-rate players and sportscasters), I'd plan a trip around it. You wouldn't catch ANYone in my family going for Super Soap Weekend.

ESPN weekend should including some NASCAR stars from the past since its during racing season. I'm a 3rd generation NASCAR fan and my late Grandma help me some in teaching NC Beast on the history and what you need to know. I have watched Cal Ripken, JR. play in Baltimore on several occasions before he retired and been to a Redskins game when they were still at RFK.

:rolleyes1 I'm neutral on which NC college team to support in the basketball and football.

Hockey--- :cheer2: Go Canes!

I'm going to have to buy the Patriot and Red Sox fan gear for the new nephew.

I don't do sports of any kind :confused3 neither does DH :thumbsup2 But man o man, both are familys, ALL women included- are sport freaks! My mother being worse than any guy! Mom would bring a hand held TV to watch the Pro's, while she was at my sons baseball games! :lmao: she even watches golf and my bother chases Tiger Woods around- for real! I so have no idea where I came from, as I do not get it at all!!!

See that, Will? Finally, a safe place for you to hide!:thumbsup2

I would have killed to go to ESPN the Weekend again. (My 'subtle' hint just laid there with the other sad, pathetic hints I've dropped.) I wouldn't judge this event based on a Friday visit as it's always the slowest day.

Second rate players!!! *GASP* They had Joba Chamberlain. Yankees fans love him. And lets not forget Amani Toomer from the WORLD CHAMPION GIANTS!!  If my memory serves me right, I missed a chance to see Derek Jeter because I was summoned to a certain podcast last year. :sad1:

As far as the autographs, my DS interned with the Carolina Panthers for 3 years. We met him at the team's hotel in the Meadowlands twice when they were playing the Giants. Each time you'd see the same people trying to get autographs. DS said it was the same wherever they went. Unlike SOAP STARS, autographs of athletes can go for some big bucks. (We have a Mickey Mantle ball enshrined in a bookcase.)

I would rather have someone drill a hole in my skull and pour in battery acid than go to Super Soap Weekend. (Susan Lucci looks like a bobble head doll. So there.......pffft.)

I'm with you, Maris!

I'm a rabid sports fan..love football, hockey, along with many of the more "girlie" sports like figure skating, swimming, and gymnastics.

If ESPN can't get more top tier athletes from the pro sports, why not get some from the Olympic sports? Do they not know the draw that someone like Michael Phelps or Michelle Kwan would bring to the weekend..and I bet they would sign autographs.

Just some food for thought for ESPN.

They've had Olympic athletes in the past. It was either Kristi Yamaguchi or Michelle Kwan one year. It varies.

I'd like to see Wilbon and Kornheiser from PTI. :thumbsup2

I'm in Pittsburgh...we bleed BLACK 'n Gold...it doesn't matter if you're male or female.

Go Steelers, PENS and Pirates!

Female, lifelong sports fan here-MLB, NFL, NCAA, NHL...I love 'em ALL!!!

What are these Soap Stars of which you speak??

I was just listening to your Podcast and the statement about Donovan McNabb that you were not sure he was there. Yes he was there I am here in NJ and was watching ESPN live from Hollywood Studios and Donovan was on the show. There were plenty of Eagle fans in the audience.

Can't say I am a "sports" fan...you know like some people who just love sports and will watch any kind of sport any time. I am an OHIO STATE football fan, big time! My doorbell is the fight song! I basically love college football and also occasionally watch golf for some reason, but other than that not big on sports, can't imagine going for ESPN Weekend unless Tressel and the Scarlet and Gray boys were going to be there.

HUGE hockey fan here!

Grew up watching the Islanders pound out four cups in a row...some of the best hockey EVER!

Now I'm in Philly w/ the sad (of late) Flyers. :sad2: ... and their AHL team the Phantoms. I'm now even starting to get dd(6yo) into it!

I'm not all that into the other "major" sports...they move too slow as compared to hockey, but indoor lacrosse is fun to watch as well!

Dh likes football well enough and has become somewhat of a hockey fan since we've been together...but neither of us are the sit out in the cold/heat/wee hours of the morning and wait for tickets kinds of fans.

I am a sports fan too. I can't get enough of baseball. Football, Basketball, Golf and Tennis. I will watch it all. I live to hear ESPN SportsCenter. My husband retains sports stats like nobody else. I have no idea how he does it. Haven't watched a soap since I was on bed rest pregnant with my first child. I will have no problem pretending to be a soap fanatic if I can do it in Disney.

I think turn about is fair play.

I am so convincing Pete that you need to cover Super Soap Weekend this year.

That'll teach you to get us up for a 7am ADR.

HEY PETE, REGINA NEEDS TO COVER SUPER SOAP WEEKEND 2008!!!!!!!!!!

Oh darn!! Wouldn't you know it, I'm having root canal, setting my hair on fire, throwing myself in the path of a train, jumping from a bridge and diving into a tank full of scorpions that weekend.

All of the above are preferable to going to Super Soap Weekend.

I can hide you in the cistern if you like, Regina.

You're on. Anything to keep me safe from Super Soap Weekend. Besides that, it's during football season. I'd rather be in the ESPN Zone.

The only person I would recognize is Susan Lucci. It would be mighty tempting to stick velcro on her feet and slap her on my dashboard next to the dancing hula girl. The two of them could bobble side by side.
