I just got a quote on cat 5a for two people for the 10 night meditteranean cruise from my travel agent.

The total was $12,456.14 ($6,090 per person, plus a total of $276.14 for taxes, fees, and port expenses).

We are paying about $3,000 each for same category for 6/29/2016 7 night Norwegian Fjords cruise.

Cost per night, per person

6/29/2016 Norway - about $425-$430

7/28/2017 Meditteranean - about $620-$625

Percentage increase: about 45%.

Conclusion: I'll have to pass.

DCL has officially priced me out for the more exotic cruise destinations. I'm a gold member; been on a 2014 European Med DCL cruise and several Bahamas and Caribbean DCL cruises. I feel very fortunate to have experienced DCL in Europe before these 2016 and now 2017 skyrocketing prices. These 2017 prices are simply outrageous; so RC and Carnival here we come. For what it's worth, I did get quotes on these two sailings to help others:

6/11/2017: 7 nt N. European; 2A and 2C; Cat 10C - $7,055 no OBB

6/18/2017: 10 nt. N. European; 2A and 2C; Cat 10C - $10,844 no OBB

Yep...truly indicative of psychosis on Disney's part! We paid less for the 12 night Norway, Iceland and Scotland this summer than people cruising fewer nights to Alaska and the southern Caribbean! Really??

My sentiments exactly. Our first experience in the Med was on Disney, along with our first Transatlantic. Both in 2007 -- and, unfortunately, never to be repeated at these rates

I'm able to pay Disney's prices, but I'm unwilling to pay a big premium to sail with them. I'm glad I already booked my 2017 Hawaii and Alaska cruises on Royal Caribbean.

Exactly. For me and my son to do the 6/28 out of Dover.. It would put our travel expenses over $30k. There is too much else out there that can be done while spending $10k less.

Thanks for posting these prices. I was waiting to see the August 12th Mediterranean cruise. I was thinking of taking my son for a graduation present but it's to rich for my blood especially when you add in air fare. I do have an OBB to transfer but that really doesn't help much. Oh well - Back to the drawing board
