Oga's Cantina. What's the big deal?

I think it was inspired by the mos eisley cantina though which was in Star Wars: a new hope

We had a great time last summer. Our waitress stayed in character the entire time and was a lot of fun. She even let us have an extra drink each. However, my husband is extremely social and that kept the shared table from feeling awkward and contributed to the fun of the waitress. We aren’t super Star Wars fans but have watched all the movies.

One of the best parts was our late reservation which then allowed us to walk around the area a night when it was almost empty.

I had no idea. We were debating about which Star Wars movies I should watch so I can kinda figure out what this whole thing is about. I am not sure which one we started with but I don't think I made it halfway through the movie. It is too confusing to me. I am sure my husband and kids will enjoy it.

We are going next week and I keep hearing about how crowded they pack you in. Our reservation is for 9:40 pm on a day they close at 9:00 so I’d really like to keep it for the emptier than normal park vibe before and after….however, I’m not super comfortable being in a crowded indoor place nor do I really want to stand after a long day in the park. Is it an option to get our drinks to go rather than stand at a table?

I would love to know how it goes for you. Good luck! I hope we can go in, get a drink, look around and leave. Maybe at that time of night, you will get a seat.

Sounds like a fun opportunity to do an “adult” thing with two young fans who will be intrigued by the experience of a Star Wars cantina. Late reservation also fun and you will be leaving when park is empty so could hopefully take a quick photo with the light sabers at night before leaving.

I am not a star wars fan. I can't get into the movies. My sons both have reservations for 6 pm to build a droid and a light saber. I figured I would try to get a reservation for Oga's that day. I did get one for 8:55 pm. I believe the park usually closes at 9 pm. I am wondering what the heck it is going to be like there, especially at that time of night. It looks like it is 90% drinks, most of which is alcohol which my youngest won't be able to have. Would that atmosphere really be that amazing for my 18 yo to enjoy? I am debating whether I should cancel it or not. I understand that you can't go inside the building unless you have reservations. Breakfast seems to only be for AP holders which we are not.
Keep the reservation. It’s fun. It’ll be dark when you leave and you can take some pretty neat pictures around the park with your “overpriced glow stick”. We did it and it was a lot of fun.

It was a one and done for me, my son (adult) loved it and would like to go back. It was way too crowded (in the before times) and way too loud. We were at a table with other people but they put us on sort of stools on the outside of the table & we got hit a lot. Our server was rushed so no being in character (which I'm o.k. with). My son did get to have more than two drinks and we stayed a lot longer than 45 min. The server told us to just stay and enjoy (I think he knew he was going to get a decent tip). I agree with others, though. Keep it for nothing else then you get to be in the park after close.

We had a similar adr time after my kids built sabers. We went during covid restrictions so we had our own table (standing). My kids then 14 and 16 loved it. We are going back in August because they want dad to see it and he didn't come on that trip with us. I'm ok not going back. 😆 it was awesome walking out to an empty park. We weren't ushered out and were literally the only ones walking around. I would keep it just for the empty park.

Late-night Oga's reservations are so fun!
Just to know, depending on what time you leave/park close, you may get personally escorted "off the planet" with not a lot of time to hang out in the land. This happened to us (during COVID but I imagine they'll still want to close up). Our escort remained in character and was fun to talk to as he escorted us to where the Muppets are where other CMs were waiting and waving people out.

The park was empty as we were leaving. We already had gotten pics before our Oga's reservation in a fairly empty land, so that wasn't a priority for us so we didn't ask if we could snap photos.

Now I have to consider how long to stay there so I can make sure the area is mostly empty when we leave. I was just going to get in and out ASAP. I am sure my son will love getting a nighttime saber picture.

An 8:55pm would be a good time - they won't be necessarily rushing you out to get the next person to sit in your spot. I am a non-drinker and I loved Oga's. They have a decent menu of non-alcoholic drinks, including the blue milk and a bunch of fruity type drinks.

Between the building experiences and your reservation, snag Ronto wraps at Ronto Roasters. They're delicious, and will make for a good light dinner before the cantina.

BTW, my profile pic was taken after a late Oga's reservation after park close. So that's what you can expect. It's also super cool to be in any Disney park when it's completely vacant. Ask me about my Hurricane Dorian trip some time.

The place is very much what you make of it. Star Wars fans and/or people who enjoy cosplay/role play will have a great time, though it is a little dependent on the vibe of the crowd. (You'll know what I mean when Una Duey Dee comes on.) If you stay removed from/above it all, it won't have the same impact.

We're the sort of people who play with the characters (I once asked the Fairy Godmother if she used any produce other than pumpkins: "Oh yes! Eggplants make great stretch limousines.") so it is right up our alley.

The alcohol part is no big deal. There are several non-alcoholic things on the menu. I've had a few of them (I don't drink) and they are good examples of the mocktail genre, and themed to fit the bar.

In December, they put my second drink in a plastic cup for me take in the park. I just couldn't leave the park with it.

That blue milk is tasty! 5 of us split one in the park though which is kind of gross, frankly 🤢

Definitely need to check out Oga’s!

As a non-drinker I’ve really enjoyed Disney mocktails! And getting into near-cosplay spirit is fun, especially for the looks my teen daughters give me :) This sounds like my kinda place…how the heck did we miss it last month?
