Silver will have plenty of chances. The maiden? Probably not unless you can catch one that a Platinum cruiser drops.

Not likely for drops with a non-refundable deposit that cannot be transferred to another cruise.

You can always switch once you're on board because DCL doesn't care/monitor who sleeps where. You'll just have to get a courtesy key from Guest Services to open the other room.

The caveat is if the staterooms are in different Muster Stations (yes, it CAN happen with side-by-side or across-the-hall staterooms...the dividing line has to be somewhere), you are expected to go to the Muster Station your assigned stateroom has, not the one assigned to the stateroom where you're sleeping.

Some people will inevitably drop, though, as such is life. Something always comes up for someone out of a few thousand people in the course of a year. Those drops will definitely be few and far between, though, and quickly snapped up when they occur.

Wow, this turned into an enjoyable thread to read! So much wealth of experience, truly appreciated. Thank you all for the reassurance about booking during the first season. We had no intention of sailing on the actual maiden voyage, so no sadness there. Just want to get my 3 kiddos through that secret door and down the slide into Oceaneers ASAP. They're so excited for it.

As long as you added disney protection plan before you made a deposit on maiden voyage, you can get 75% back in deposit for future cruise credit if you needed to cancel for any reason.

Well, given that Wish cruises are now available for booking by the general public, and there is still ample availability, it's clear that she could if she wanted to.
