Odd Placeholder Question

so I have a placeholder and understand all the usual terms etc. It expires the day before the cruise I was thinking of. My question is if I booked a hotel room for the night before through DCL as part of the cruise package does that mean that my placeholder is then valid because I am technically commencing the travel the day before? I've never had this issue with a placeholder before being so close to the cruise date.
