October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

QOTD:

What kind of vehicle do you drive and at what age did you get your drivers license?

QUOTE]

My DH drives a Pilot. Most of the time I drive a big SUV. I do a have a little convertible in the garage...that I take out when I don't have to take ALL of the kids. :car: Nothing makes me happier then a drive in my convertible: with the top down and my music playing...way to loud!:lmao:

I was not allowed to get my drivers license until I was 18. That was my parents rules. At the time, I thought it was a really stupid rule. Now that my DD is almost 15...I am thinking it was a great rule.:thumbsup2 My DH was 16 when he got his license.

Someone told me they were going to AKL after the cruise.. who was it?! Im freaking out I need to figure out how to get 6 people and 6 bags from the port to AKL when we get back Nov 1st.

Then on the 2nd we fly home late afternoon via the Sanford airport.

I looked at a 2 day rental that would hold 6 people and 6 suit cases, picking up at port canaveral and dropping off at sanford air port and it was over 600 bucks! :confused3

Any ideas that wont brak the bank?

Have you tried Budget car rental - I am picking up a 7 seater and renting for 2days and then dropping off at the airport and it isn't costing anywhere near that much.

I booked through www.usrentacar.co.uk - you could give them a try.

We used Budget last cruise also, shuttle tranfer was smooth, check in, check out was fine. 44.00/day for full size, coupon codes are at slickdeals.com....:)

Q.O.D......Renault Scenic with W.D.W. topper, and my racing bike cant beet pedal power, except when it rains:lmao: Pased driving test when men used to stop traffic holding up red boards,LOL.:rotfl:

Today I'm in services for Yom Kippur -- so no chat for me.

But I interviewed yesterday for the job of a lifetime ... and I was told that once they get the background OK, I've got it.:cool1:

I'll be starting the Monday after the cruise (I haven't put in my two week's notice, yet).

I promise to reveal more onboard.:cloud9:

Thanks for the Halloween update!! I'm getting so excited!!! I can't believe thats in just over 2 weeks from now We will be at sea!!

I got my license at 17. I think it was 3 days b4 my high school graduation!!
I am the 'proud' driver of a 2003 Ford Windstar:dance3: Had to go for the mini-van when we were having #3. needed to strap in 3 car seats!!!:scared: Dh has a Ford Focus. that the car we drive when we have none of the kids!!

QOTD...

I never got my license until I was 21  . To be honest - didn't need it. I lived on a main bus line, and in a house with 5 other licensed drivers - got where ever I needed to go. I remember my dad grumbling (as he was driving me around) "I wish you'd hurry up and get your license!", and then when I finally got it and was asking for the car all the time, that became "I wish you'd hurry up and get your own car!"

Now I drive an aging Mazda MPV mini van - giving me trouble recently, but I'm babying it along - because Hubby is driving a newer Ford Ranger pick up! We managed to be a one vehicle family for a long time, but last year finally had to admit it just wasn't working anymore. It was kind of funny how him driving the van into the ground and me having a new little car turned into ME driving the aging minivan and him driving a pick up! That wasn't my plan :rotfl: !

Sounds like the DCL plans for Halloween are going to be awesome!! Will definitely need to have all last minute things/packing done to be able to enjoy all the festivities :dance3: !

Talk to you all in chat tonight!

Valerie

Thanks for the transportation advice!!
I managed to book with budget for half the price. Whew.

Finishing my FE gifts and shipping hte box out tomorrow.

My car?
2005 Black Saturn Ion I love it! DH drives a toyota Matrix. :)

Hi I have a couple of questions:

Is it easier to ship FE gifts ahead or bring them with you? With the weight restrictions really being enforced these days Should I just ship them?

What are the group T-shirts supposed to look like. I bought the transfers but not sure of color and want to make sure of the design.
:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I need help with fe ideas for adults. Not sure what it's supposed to be??

I have most of my magents done. Waiting for the last of the FE stuff to arrive and I have NOTHING packed. need to do :laundy: :laundy:

Looking forward to tonight's chat, but will be early nite. I'm very tired and CSI premire is tonight!!!:yay: :yay: :yay:

Good Evening Everybody...

Don't think I will make it into chat tonight. :sad1: At least until much later... I am still at work and am so buried (I really am in over my head with everything I need to get done b4 vacation). :headache:

Hopefully when I do get home and get settled, some of you may still be in chat. :confused3 If not, it's ok ~ will catch up on Saturday... ;)

Maryrn11168 check out the cruise thread there was a lot of talk on FE this last few days
Heres one http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1976200

I do not how to get into the chat rooms. I confess that I have never done that before...Thanks for the FE link and the Disney Cruise info from the newspaper. It is really amzing the information that is shared. The excitement keeps building...I am afraid if I had booked earlier, I would have had a heart attack with all the excitement and energy on this forum!! i thought that we were finally able to book, my excitement level would peak, however when I read what everyone else writes, I get giddier and giddier. (is that a word?). I do not know if I have felt this much excitement since I was 8 years old waiting for Santa! Ancipation is driving me bonkers!

So, it's been a good day. Got all the errands done, most of the paperwork for work done.....all's quiet in sleep land (Ameera was afforded special priveledge by Her Highness Victoria to sleep in the Royal Bed tonight....). Life is good.

Oh, yeah. It was Ameera's 2nd birthday today. We had mommy's paella (she loves it!) and chocolate chocolate chip muffins for "cake-cake" as she calls it! Two little candles in it that she blew out just as we were singing Happy Birthday.....little stinker....had to re-light and start over. She loved it!

On my first DCL cruise, which had a lot of folks travelling without children (or so it seemed...), my girlfriend and I received tons of stuff in our FE that would, I guess, be considered "adult" ..... disney fridge magnets (we decorated the inside of our stateroom door with 'em :) ), disney pens and pencils, little notepads, packages of M&Ms (they came in handy when seeing a movie or a show). We got pirate themed bracelets and earrings (just inexpensive ones) and even a skull necklace :scared1:

Hope that helps a little bit :)

I called DCL yesterday to ask about Grand Cayman, because our shore excursion is booked for 9:30, but it says we don't arrive until 11. After getting the generic answer of "9:30 is the meeting time, not the actual excursion time," I got the woman to see my point that 1.5 hours of waiting is probably unreasonable (and our excursion is supposed to end at 11:40, which would make it an incredibly short excursion). She checked her information, and it said that we arrive at 9:30, but that all-ashore is 11am, which was odd to her. She had a specialist call me back later, who gave me an answer that didn't make sense, but said she'd call me back before the cruise once she knows the actual time (either of our arrival or of our shore excursion being rescheduled). Well, she called me back today (wow!), and said that we are, indeed, arriving at 9:30am, and that the 11am thing is an error. She did not indicate if 9:30 is when everyone can get off, or if just those with early excursions can get off (I got the impression it is more likely the latter). She did indicate that they were unaware of the discrepancy, so perhaps we will see an update made?

Anyway, I thought I would share in case anyone else was wondering about the timing discrepancy, since they were booking excursions so early.

My 50-sheet supply of magnetic paper (11 pounds) arrived in the mail today (much better price than buying 5-sheet packs). Don't think I'll be using all of it for this trip; won't have any weight allowance left for clothing.

QOTD: Got my license on my 16th birthday while driving 5-year old Pinto (did my dad have plans when he bought that fire hazard?). My mom was so excited because she could send me grocery shopping. Now I'm in a 2007 VW Jetta 4-door lease. I've driven 4-door sedans for 24 years, toting kids and friends around.
