Yeah!!! Are you having a great time in the park?
PoohBearFriends, thank you the send off before my trip. It is really nice to be appreciated!
We are having a good time, but for a few little issues. We are checked into a one bedroom DVC unit. We go to the Parks quite often and don't spend lots of time in the Parks. Instead, we tend to enjoy the hotel, shopping, pin trade, go to a movie and spend lots of time in our room (which faces DCA Park side).
When we arrived in our room there was jack hammering in one of the units above and to the side of us. My DH does not have a AP, so he was going to read and relax in the room when my DD and I were pin trading around the resort. The hammering turned out to be too much. I called in to see what could be done about the situation. Ken, the DVC specialist, told us the Villas were booked and a room change was not an option. He offered to move us to a one bedroom suite on the hotel side, but I brought food for us to prepare and cook in our room. In addition, we did not want to move into a smaller room (we have two teenagers). He countered with a two day hopper pass (so DH can escape the noise) and a dinner for four at any of the DLR hotel restaurants. Meaning, we could eat at Steakhouse 55. We took that. The total value is around $250. Nice compensation for the inconvenience of the noise. We plan on using the 2 day hopper towards a Deluxe AP (which we going to get anyway). We are looking forward to our dinner at SH55 tonight.
One big huge tip for Mickey's Halloween Party: do the rides first. Each ride, including Galaxy Ghost and Star Tours, was no longer than 15 minutes. Most were just the time to walk to the front of the loading area. We went trick or treating during the last half and loaded up on candy. My girls got a clear plastic bag from one of the gift shops for free and used that for a trick or treat bag. My DD(16) wanted mostly the apple crisps and her bag was completely full with them at the end of the night. She got 52 bags of them. Most of the CMs like to get rid of their candy towards the event.
