Getting everything ready for our trip to the Fort for the first full week on November. Will be the 50th anniversary of my first trip. Cheating a little bit as it should be the week before Christmas but not wanting to chance the weather of northern Indiana like my parents did. When making our plans we drug out my mom's scrap book from our first trip and she had noted that within a mile from home dad had to put on the snow tires to get up the grade to the main road.

Also hoping for a smaller crowd than Christmas time will bring. Have done that few times and while in was nice Hopefully as the Mickey Christmas party will have started they should already at least started putting up decorations before we get there.

My mother was quite the scrap book person and kept detailed notes and a lot brochures, pamphlets and Campground guides from our trip down to their receipt from fort. Sure wish I was paying the rates they did. Can share some pictures of the info if you would like to see them.

Bearings are packed and the trailer is washed.

Did receive our 50th anniversary luggage tags to day so figured I should tag our luggage

Congrats! I can’t imagine how much has changed since that first trip.
I’ve earmarked on my (iPad) calendar for my Fiftieth anniversary trip as well… just another 6 yrs or so!
God willing, I’ll be bringing my mother with me as well!

Would love  to see these, @JP6972. Bama Ed

Well, we satisfied our urging and are going to Disney and the Fort on Nov. 8 for 7 wonderful days. Rented a camper, and will drive down from Wisconsin, without towing our fifth-wheel. We sold it to our daughter and son-in-law this summer, - thought our camping days were done! Only two park days, and just some R & R. A month late celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. We went to Disney on our honeymoon, but only one park back in 1972. Trying desperately to get reservations to the Hoop Dee Doo any evening. Wish us luck. The weather will always be nicer than at home. We hope to meet some of you. We will be the ones with the larger inflated Green Bay Packer. Taking him to a different site. Maybe he will bring better luck!!!!

Hope you are able to take her. We took my mom with us in 2019 or I should say she took herself. At 82 she pulled her own trailer most of the way with one of my nieces driving some of the way for her. My Brother and Sisters with their spouses all caravaned down along with some of our kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews all together was 23 of us. Gave mom a very special visit to Disney. Worked out to be the 50 year anniversary date of first time to Disneyland.

Few more items from first trip in 72. No train on the map yet. And dont remember any trams at this point. Do remember walking everywhere in the Campground and the lawn mower tree being a big highlight at time.

Love your Mom for keeping this, I thought I was the only one saving this stuff LOL.

Have a great time and post if ya can, it keeps us all in the right frame of mind.

If you guys are still in northern Indiana, we and @Teamubr are always looking to do a Midwest Dismeet :scratchin

Yes she started my collecting of Disney programs, fliers, postcard, napkins etc.

Still in northern Indiana. About as northern as you get with out ending up in Michigan.

Will just miss you by a few days Bama Ed. Will be there Monday. Trailer is all ready but stocking the groceries and a few more pieces of clothing. Truck will be serviced by tonight.

Decided to make a Mickey light for this trip using what I had in my shop and a short rope light. Started by bending up some steal and welding it together.

Mounted to an old light tripod and made a cross bar added a rope light and came up with this.

Didnt have a white board to make a proper DIS board member sign so hope this is ok.

That's a shame. We check back in on 11/13 (Sunday). Good luck with your trip. Ed
