Nichole's Wishes PJ 10/24/2011 ~ WP/ADH/SCP ** OUR WEDDING DAY ~ The Reception

Nicole your group really knows how to have a good time!!!!
Can't wait to see the big day!!! I hope you had a great Xmas and New Year!!!

Thanks we had a very eventful holiday (which has prevented me from getting through all of our photos!) but it was lovely! I am getting closer and closer to the photos of the big day!

I love the picture of the best man. I love that he drank out of the flask with a straw. :lmao: `Ohana looked delicious--glad everyone enjoyed themselves. Can't wait to read about wedding day!

Thanks! We had so much fun all week!

Nichole: Your rehersal dress is adorable! Love that the bridal party all dressed in black for the rehersal as well. My wedding is Oct 25, 2012 at the WP and ADH so I have been lurking on your journal for a while now. I am jealous that you got to do your rehersal dinner at O'Hana. I had my eye on it but was A. Afraid I wouldn't fit in my dress the next day after all that fab food and B. Future FIL wants something in a private room.

Thanks so much! I loved ADH and the WP! What great choices -- and a great date :)

After dinner we made our way to the GF for the Welcome Party at Sage Cay. I was really excited to see what the decorations looked like and how everything was put together. If you can recall, Maxine had the best money saving advice for me here -- use the existing GF decorations (which are always nice) and black table cloths. So I spent $0 on decorations for the party and we had a cash bar, so the only money we were out was for the food and the violinist! All and all, this was the best bang for our buck event!

We were a little early, so we got to sit and hang out for a minute or two before someone came over to escort me to the party. This also gave Randy a few minutes to photograph everything before all the people got there!

1-BeforetheWelcomeParty-1.jpg

We did chocolate fondue with different berries, cakes, etc. Honestly, I never had a chance to eat any of the food, but everyone said it was amazing!

2-WelcomeParty-01.jpg

We also had a little water station set up -- again at no cost! The GF set out little lanterns on each of the tables. I was very pleased!

2-WelcomeParty-07.jpg
2-WelcomeParty-09.jpg

It look perfect for a cocktail party and it was very private. I was a little worried about whether other people would be passing by and gawking. But I really didn't notice anyone else around.

4-WelcomeParty-01.jpg
4-WelcomeParty-04.jpg

I would put the Welcome Party on one of my top must-do's for a wedding. I gave me a chance to welcome everyone and take photos with them. I got it all out of the way during the Welcome Party, so the actual reception was all mine! So I didn't feel like I had to go around from table to table and greet everyone since I already did that the day before! And I got to enjoy our reception food!

Randy was great! I took a bunch of photos with everyone.

3-GuestPhotos-11.jpg
3-GuestPhotos-13.jpg

And was finally able to grab DH for a photo!

3-GuestPhotos-20.jpg

He was far to busy running around and drinking with everyone to take many photos, but we did manage to get one of him and his best man.

4-WelcomeParty-16.jpg

After the photos I mingled with everyone for a bit.

4-WelcomeParty-13.jpg

And everyone finally started to eat!

4-WelcomeParty-18.jpg

Then before I knew it, it was time for the fireworks. Randy had a spot for us all picked out for some great photos! We did not pipe in the Wishes music and I don't think anyone noticed at all. In fact, a lot of people thought the fireworks were just for us! The violinist was great and we received a lot of compliments about her and the welcome party in general.

Then he wanted us to kiss. I must say, making out in front of all of our friends and family for what seemed like forever was a bit awkward at first, but DH is such a joker we just ended up starting to laugh after a while.

9-Fireworks-61.jpg

DH's brother even ran out to "join the fun".

Then we got back to business ... the best we could!

We stayed around until all of our guests left and then I made my way back the Boardwalk and DH went back to Coronado with his Best Man for the evening. I couldn't believe we were getting married the next day! Needless to say I got no sleep. By the time I took my hair out and washed it, it was pretty late. I couldn't sleep so I called to talk to my brother for a little while, organized some stuff for the next morning, and did what ever else I could think of. I am pretty sure it was close to 4 am before I finally drifted off. So, I'm not sure if deciding to stay by myself the night before the wedding was a good idea or not. It was nice to have some time to myself, but I just couldn't shut my mind off!

Up next ... our wedding day (finally)!!!

Nichole--The welcome party looked wonderful! I'm sure your guests really did enjoy themselves. The fireworks pictures are so pretty too! I love where your b-i-l joined in :lmao: . Seeing these pictures makes me a little sentimental, though...I stayed in one of those marina view rooms during my wedding. :lovestruc Sighhhh. Can't wait to read about the big day!!!

Nichole,

Your welcome party looks amazing! What a great night. Looks like your guests really had a fun time.

I thought you comment about having the room to yourself was interesting. That is what I was planning on doing, but now I am rethinking. It's always something. :rolleyes1

Hi Nicole!

I found your thread this morning right before I got off of work at around 9:30 (i work night shifts as a nurse). I came home from work and was so excited to keep reading, that I couldnt fall asleep! So I just read all 27 pages of your thread :surfweb: and I  it! Df and I are getting married at the end of this year and we have the same locations as you:banana:. I loved all your ideas and I hope you don't mind if we barrow some (like having a group drinking around the world). We are also planning on having Randy Chapman. Can't wait to here more!

Everything looks perfect! You got some really great fireworks pic's! Excited to hear about the wedding day! :)

Thanks!! I am finally getting to those photos :cool1:

Thanks! I don't know if I would do it differently if I had to do it all over again, but it was a very strange feeling. I am usually a very independent person and thought that the night by myself after spending days with everyone was going to be great -- and very relaxing, but I found myself thinking non-stop about everything. I don't know if having someone there to talk it through would have made it better or not.

Well, I have finally made it to our wedding day!! And after the long weekend, I made some good headway with our photos!

I don't know too much detail about the going ons while the boys were getting ready, but I am sure there was a lot of alcohol involved in it all. We had a second photographer go to Coronado Springs to photograph the boys while they were getting ready and then at various locations around Coronado Springs. Randy arranged it all for us (how wonderful is he!) and from what I hear she was great! DH had been looking for fun groomsmen pics for some time, so he had a laundry list of shots he wanted. Here are a few of my favs.

Nichole,

I love the groomsmen pics!! The one with the pants down and bozers showing is priceless!!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Everything looks amazing!

Cant wait to hear and see more

:lmao: I've been laughing for a good 5 minutes at all of these getting ready photos. All of your guys are so funny! The boxer and urinal pictures are the best! :lmao: The ones with the booze, too! Oh, I'm so excited for more, Nichole!

Ha! I'm dying over here. Your groomsmen and H are hilarious! They must be a lot of fun to hang around with.

I LOVE THE PICS IN THE BOXERS. HYSTERICAL! Love it!

Oh my goodness, those pictures are hysterical! :lmao:

Ha! I'm dying over here. Your groomsmen and H are hilarious! They must be a lot of fun to hang around with.

Thanks so much!! I couldn't have asked for better groomsmen! I went into this all not expecting much from the guys -- just drink and have a good time, etc., but they were so wonderful! They were constantly asking if they could help out with anything and always made sure DH was taken care of. His best man especially was great! He made sure the guys were on time for things and where they needed to be -- as best as he could of course ;)

While the boys were having fun at Coronado Springs, the girls and I got ready at the Boardwalk. I woke up early even though I didn't fall asleep until the early hours of the morning. We had free continental breakfast included with our room, so I set off to find it. I am pretty sure I went the absolute longest way, but I eventually found the little room where everything was set out. I made myself a plate of some fruit, pastries and a bagel, asked for a bottle of water and headed back to the room to relax a little before the dress steamer arrived. I'm not sure how much relaxing I was actually able to accomplish though -- I was so on edge!

The dress steamer arrived a few minutes early. I used Carolyn Allen's like a lot of other brides do. I didn't realize it is actually a family business. She arrived first and introduced herself and then her husband arrived with all the equipment. They were both really pleasant people. She focused mainly on steaming my dress, but her husband was very talkative! This was the first real human interaction I had had since being stuck in my head for the past 12 hours so I am sure I was not very fun to speak to! They did mention that they did Lacey's dress the night before and had seen the limo outside for her that morning. I had every intention on sneaking away to catch a glimpse of Lacey's ceremony, but I was way to on edge about the day's events to venture out.

They did a really good job on my dress and veil and I have no complaints about the quality of the work. My only complaint would be that they charged me $20 over what they had told me the price would be when I made the appointment. Not a huge deal in the scheme of things, but had I not had extra cash around I would not have been too happy. I had made envelopes for all the items I needed to pay cash for before we left, like all the tips, hair, dress steaming, lunch for the girls, etc. and I made sure we had extra cash in small bills for anything that may have come up.

My girls and my mom arrived shortly after they were done with the dress and then Laine and another woman (whose name I can't remember) arrived to start everyone's hair and make up. They set up downstair and got to work on the girls.

3HairMake-Up-Laura002.jpg
3HairMake-Up-Mom007.jpg

I ordered a lunch platter from Jason's Deli to be delivered around noon and then opened some champagne for mimosas. After a couple glasses of champagne with a shot of OJ I started to relax a little bit and enjoy the experience more. I had the girls fill out their guest book page while they were waiting.

Laine did one or two of the girls hair and then it was my turn. About this time, lunch arrived. The driver couldn't find Disney to save his life -- and I really don't understand how that happens! Eventually after speaking with my MOH several times, he made his way to the Boardwalk.

4HairMake-Up006.jpg
4HairMake-Up011.jpg

Laine finished with most of my hair and make up and then finished up with the rest of the girls. Around this time the girls started to change into their dresses and finish getting ready. I headed upstairs to steal away a few undisturbed minutes to write a letter to DH. These pages came with our guest book for each of us to write a letter to one another. I loved the idea! So we each wrote one and then sealed them up. I am creating a box with a bottle of our champagne, some photos of our wedding day and our sealed letters to one another. So in 5-10 years (or if we ever have a hard period) we can open up the box and read the letters to see how much we loved one another on our wedding day.

4-LettertoDustin004.jpg

Randy arrived to start photos shortly after that. He started with shots of all the accessories. I love these types of shots -- especially since the whole day goes by so fast and it is hard to take it all in!

While he was doing this I gave my mom her gift -- the hankie Amanda embroidered for me. She almost started crying, which of course made me want to cry!

About this time Stan arrived to do some video. We had him go take some of the guys first, which I guess they normally don't do. Given the unexpected nature of the guys, we wanted to make sure we caught some on our video, so we asked him to go over to Coronado Springs before coming to see me at the Boardwalk.

Laine did some make up touch ups on me and we posed for some "getting ready" photos before the flowers arrived. I was amazed at how much my bouquet weighed! It must have been almost 30 pounds!

5FlowersArrive005.jpg
5FlowersArrive003.jpg

Then it was time to put the veil on. I don't know what it is about a veil that made me feel so much like a bride. Even during the hair trial, it didn't feel like I was actually getting married until we put the veil on!

Laine showed my girls how to remove it easily for the reception.

6PuttingontheVeil029.jpg

Then we did a few more "getting ready" shots and I put my earrings on.

6PuttingontheVeil041.jpg

Then it was time to put on the dress. I didn't think about how this was going to work before I guess. I had undergarments on, but was at what point do you call the photographer upstairs? My dress didn't have a bodice, so there really wasn't' much involved in putting it on. Also, I didn't think about finding a space big enough for all the people that would be there. Just a few things I wish I would have thought about before hand. The pics turned out ok, but I wish I would have moved out from the little space we were in.

Then we took some photos upstairs on the balcony while the girls got everything together downstairs and finished getting ready.

We took a few upstairs with the big mirrors in the open bathroom and some of us jumping on the bed.

Then we went downstairs to get my shoes and garter on.

After that we headed out to the Boardwalk to take some group shots.

More on that next!

Nichole,

I have spent asll afternoon reading through your entire PJ and all I have to say is WOW!!!!

You are so talented and I love all of your DIY projects, I wish I was able to make things like you and I may even have a go now! I love your personalised wine bottles.

You and your wedding party all look so much fun and I am really glad you all had an amazing time. Love the groomsmen photos!!!

We have a similar plan to you for our wedding trip with rehearsal dinner at Ohanas, but I hadn't thought of inviting Randy. I may see if he is free as love the photos you guys had.

Our ceremony is also at 5pm at the WP so with our reception starting at 7pm it is too late to include a dessert party but you have just given me a great idea to do it for the rehearsal if we make our Ohana ADR 5pm instead of 9pm! Is the minimum at Sago Cay $500? Great idea to use their decoartions to save your budget too!

Look forward to reading more, and I love your "love laughter an dhappily ever after" theme throughout, we are using the smae but with the castle and fireworks where you had Tink!

Thanks for taking the time to share your magical day with us! xxx

Nichole!!

I LOVE THOSE BOY SHOTS!!! Like... seriously... I wish I could have had pictures like that with my boys.. and the underwear one is sooo classic... they would have totally done that!! LOVE THEM!!!!!:goodvibes

Your getting ready shots are so pretty!! My favorite picture is you writing your letter on the bed. What a special moment you can always look back on!! Not to mention I LOVE the Pluto with the rings!! :yay:

Keep em coming!!! :) Can't wait for the ceremony!!!
