and setting out cordials and desserts*

What a great way to relax, a nice coffee drink and new pictures to share! Someone pass the popcorn, please!

Thank you, Lisa, for starting the new thread! To link them up just put the address from the old thread on the first post of your new thread for anyone who wants to read the other pages. *that didn't come out right*

ok, once again... *L* put this addresshttp://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=4091602#post4091602
on your very first post of this thread, for anyone who wants to see the old posts! There, I think that makes better sense! Maybe I'll pour myself some kahlua/bailey's/chambord into my real time coffee and I'll start making more sense!

Thanks again for starting us anew!

Debbie

:o Lou...I sent you an S.O.S. in return! (LOL). Thanks for your PROMPT assistance. You are a LIFE-SAVER! ;)

LOOK! I did it! When the cat is away the mice will play! We're going back to the Swan!

Isn't my countdown just beautiful? *L* I reserved Good Friday through the 16th, which will give me time to get laundry done in time for school the following Monday! I just have a standard/teacher rate room so far. I tried to get club level but they didn't have our smoking preference for that week. Nothing at all at the Dolphin for that week on the teacher rate. I will keep trying, but I do have a room!

*Happydancing*
Debbie

Coffee and baileys? Debbie, outstanding idea. My kids are running around like crazy beings and I am having a fantasy of them all tucked into their little beds sleeping peacefully as I enjoy a similar beverage.

Lisa, I add my thanks for the new thread -- a fresh start for everyone.

Leaving for the Swan in just 5 days -- I can't even believe it. I haven't made any PS yet as I really was not convinced that we would actually be going. I am keeping my fingers crossed that since it is the week after Labor Day weekend, most of the restaurants will be able to accomodate us pretty last minute. Looking forward to trying Palio's, Kimonos, Beaches and Cream and who knows what else. Also trying to think of things to do that don't emphasize visual things so much for mom. I am thinking maybe Jelly Rolls and she always loved the Adventurer's Club. If any of you have any "less visual" activities" to suggest let me know. I seem to remember that there is a piano bar in either the Swan or Dolphin -- that might be relaxing for her as well.

Anyway, we were just at the poly this June, but with 4 kids ages 7,5,3, and 2, there were no nights filled with adult entertainment. Looking forward to five days without the chaos that you get with that many kids racing between adjoining rooms.

Got the rain ponchos all packed and I am hoping to get her out for a mother/daughter pedicure tomorrow so that we can have pretty feet for the big trip (critical, of course). I wish I could get them to paint a mickey head on her big toe but 1) they would look at me like I was high and 2) she probably wouldn't be able to see it anyway.

Well, off to coral the kids into showers and jammies. Good night everyone!

Lauren

Lauren...have a wonderful trip....we will all be thinking about you. This is for you:
fba60cba.jpg

Thanks for thinking ahead, DF! Great pics, again. I took my camera with me to the football game today. People think I am crazy! And, yes, I have seen RENT. We were talking last night about some of our favorite plays/musicals. Hard to pick, but I loved Phantom too, hockeymom! Saw Chicago in NYC, pretty cool. Also loved The Producers and will always remember Jerry Lewis in Damn Yankees. We decided when our kids were young that it would be a good idea to expose them to the arts, so every year we made sure we attended at least one play at the Fox in St. Louis. Now that they are grown, they still love going. It was my ds who called from college and said "I see that The Lion King will be in town in the fall, we're going, aren't we?" LOL He only goes with us, because he knows we pay!
Loved the chairs at Universal! Have seen them. How were you planning on sending that the Calif. DF?!

Thanks for the picture Ozzie. I am from Illinois too - although I have a feeling from your name that you live much closer to St Loius than we do. My husband is a St Louis boy and as a condition of our marriage, he agreed to relocate to Chicago and I agreed that the kids would be raised Cardinals fans. We were watching the cubs/cards game the other night and I confessed to my son that I was rooting for the cubs - he looked at me with shock in his eyes and said "Mommy, that is just so wrong." Of course, they gloated when the cards pulled it out in the end. My poor cubbies.

Anyway, I am sitting here totally jealous of Debbie in her silent house. My three year old princess is currently refusing to go to bed. I think that I will be asleep before she is. Where is that drink?

Lauren

Oh my gosh..I REALLY want that palm tree Margaritaville chair!!!

Thanks for posting all the pics Lisa, I really enjoyed them! That one glass sculpture is way too cool.

I only brought two packs of discs to use in my Mavica this summer...and figured I'd just buy more if I needed (and/or use DD's Sony Cybercam). Well...I seemed to take the least amount of photos EVER, and never bought more (as intended)! I took a few pictures of the Portofino suite, (completely omitted the Peabody), a "Couple" in the Vero Beach Villa....NONE in the CR (not even of the Concierge w/DD...and I promised myself I would!), NONE in the Dolphin suite and only a couple in the Key West Suite. I also took NONE of the adorable stateroom on the ship, and the animal towels the MK made! I MUST be getting absent~minded, (or lazy), as I used to take so many photos my family would make comments! I was actually stunned when I realized I took photos of the parks, etc. while staying IN the CR suite, but not one OF the suite/Resort itself ( :o Sorry, Cali)! I did take a little movie snap of DD "swiping" the room key in the elevator and pushing the button for our floor...but stopped there (!?!).

Our suite at the CR was stunning, (on the end...facing the MK). Upon check-in, I nearly lost my breath when she said we were facing the lagoon....ugh. I had REQUESTED months ago for the MK view...informing them of the importance of this request to us. She saw my face, and checked again, (went out back)...then returned and smiling and said we were actually facing the MK! She assured us it was one of the BEST suites in the resort. And...it had to be! Of course, the view on the over-sized balcony was the BEST thing about being there. DH and I sat outside alone late the first eve, and I nearly cried as we reminisced about the initial time we stayed there (in the tower on the 8th floor), more than 10 years before. DD was only 5 when we last visited. It just doesn't seem THAT long ago. It was also nice, when DH kindly "thanked" me for making the ressies there, and for obtaining the wonderful suite/view. Made it ALL worth while. DD said similar things to me over the course of our stay (5 eves), heart-warming sentments. Just like the Portofino...5 eves past in the "blink" of an eye. But, it was well worth every penny. The memories we have, are absolutely priceless.

The little fridge was well-stocked daily with our requested bevs (w/o having to ask)...including H20! The apps were astounding (From my FAV Cali Grill), and the treats were yummy. The staff is the BEST, and so accomodating. They made DD's Birthday surprise a real treat. She loves Donald Duck, so they placed a little stuffed donald duck, a DD pin & three balloons with a card (plus cake) in the suite when we returned on the second eve! She was SO surprised, and acted more like 5 than 16! The CR remains one of our all-time FAVORITE resorts on property. We'll be returning, and I'll definitely take PICTURES next time!

palmtreegirl~Thanks SO much for the lovely compliments! I too...want the chairs and the table. :p

ozziewags...much like the barstools in the Rainforest Cafe, they were more than willing to SHIP these to CALI for moi! I did not ask the price of the shipping, as it was probably as much/more as the chair/table! (LOL). DD loves theater too...as we also exposed her at a very young age. There's LOTS to see in L.A., so we go whenever the mood strikes.

joshua4~WOW...7,5,3,2...okay, where's the "1" Lauren?! That's quite a lot of work there! Does your oldest help with the younger ones? You deserve some time to relax at the Swan. I hope you have a GREAT time in the MAGIC. Enjoy the pedi tomorrow...and keep packing, dreaming and preparing for your trip!

#1hockeymom~Congrats on your RESSIES! Hooray...doing the happy dance...:bounce: for you! :o

Good morning, all...

:bounce: :bounce: for joy for you, Debbie.

Lauren ~ Definitely enjoy the adult times with your mom. Yes, piano player is in the lobby of the Dolphin. DH and I wandered over there one late afternoon and he was playing. It was very relaxing to sit on a comfy sofa and listen.

DF~ the pics of the interior of the ship are fabulous - quite opulent and elegant. I really enjoyed seeing these.

ozzie~ I, too, am a Broadway shows fanatic. Tried to expose my DSs to as many as I could convinve them to go to. I particularly love the revivals of the classics - West Side Story, Camelot (my all time absolute fav!), Peter Pan, My Fair Lady, etc. Back in the late 80s, these plays all came to Boston with some of the original stars and others. Saw Yul Brynner in King and I and Sandy Duncan in Peter Pan. I was thrilled to see Richard Harris in Camelot.

We had a nice day at the beach yesterday - the sun didn't come out but no rain. It was humid and the temp was 81 so we could walk the beach and enjoy the day. Today in Boston, fall has arrived! The temp as I post is 51.

We are taking oldest DS to his dorm today. He commuted his first 2 years so this is a first for us. He is very excited and DH says we won't see him until Thanksgiving (a tinge of sarcasm and sadness in his voice) - I hope not. He is taking his car and the campus is only 30 minutes from home so he can come home to visit. One can hope, can't one?
