New Disney cruise ship to set sail from Singapore from 2025

One thing to note on itineraries for the new ship is that is apparently uses Green Methanol for fuel and there are only a limited number of ports equiped to provide that type of fuel. Singapore is obviously one but I would not expect long one way itineraries as the ship simply can't fuel up in many ports. I would be interested to see if it does quick 3/4 nights, 7 night trips or alternating 6 and 8 nights (like some Royal ships).

I would love to sail southeast Asia from Singapore! And would be so excited to see what the main dining menus would be!

The casino I could handle - it's easy enough to avoid. It's the smoking that does me in. My kids were exposed to more smoke at Disneyland Paris than anywhere else they've been - it was horrible.
Different cultures are what you get when travelling abroad. Smoking is part of French culture (although Covid changed it slightly) and so is it in Asia.

When travelling in Japan we ate in restaurants where indoor smoking was allowed. Insane to me, normal for them.

Best is to be aware of it and try to avoid it as possible if your body is sensitive to smoke.

This is what I’m concerned about too and will definitely be looking at deck plans before booking.

I find the same at DLP, but in Tokyo Disneyland I didn’t find it as bad because people people respected the smoking areas and it was SO much better.

Singapore - Hong Kong - Shanghai - Tokyo - Singapore
Works for me.
I see capacity being limited to Dream/Fantasy/Wish numbers.

And I really, really doubt that this ship will have a casino. It's going to be a Disney ship throughout.
I'm willing to bet (no pun intended, LOL) we could see a casino. They said the same thing about alcohol in the MK and that it would never happen. It was Walt's wish. Then came BOG first, and now you can get alcohol in every single sit down restaurant in the MK.

Singapore is a terrible choice! It doesn't tie in the parks in Hong Kong or Japan at all unless you want to spend a whole lotta days at sea.

I don't think most people are going to have 3+ weeks for a cruise like that, not to mention the Disney $$$$. And yikes, way too many sea days! Those with kids will likely want to cruise during summer vacation months - not the best time weather-wise in that part of the world. But I don't really see that cruise happening, although it would be cool for those who haven't been to those parks. Why would you think they'd limit capacity? Ship holds 6,000 people. More money for Disney. But hey, if you're excited, go for it!

Considering the price point of DCL cruises, I just can't see them being successful in the Asian market without a casino. Maybe if they stick to only shorter itineraries (3/4 night), it may work but longer itineraries, IMO, will not do well when there are so many other choices with other mass market lines and the luxury lines.

Just like many of the other ports all cruise lines use, fuel is barged in, so that would not be an issue.

Sounds even better.
Singapore - Hong Kong is about 3 days at sea
Hong Kong to Shanghai is 1 day at sea
Shanghai to Tokyo is 2/3 days at sea.
About 9/10 days in total.

Thanks for doing the math for me. I knew this would be possible.

Due to the Asian market, I think it will have a non smoking casino. It will be half the size of the current casino on the ship with the other half becoming kids clubs. For smoking, I think they'll have a couple smoking lounges with outside areas as well.

Lol, and if they don't have a casino, they're going to run Bingo 24/7!

But other cruises have longer itineraries. Disney likes to keep them shorter. I guess you could do a 7-night to the Bahamas. Something like NYC -> Sea -> Sea -> Nassau -> Castaway Cay -> Sea -> Sea -> NYC?

I don't know how attractive that is, though. Lots of days at sea and not with warm weather.

Still, it would be nice to see a ship in NYC from, say, June through October. Lots of Bermuda cruises and then some Canada cruises later.

With the Treasure debuting next year, the Fantasy will be freed up for something new. Maybe the Fantasy will come to NYC for a while?

One of DCL's best itineraries out of NYC was their 7 and 8 day Bahamas itineraries that was NYC, 2 sea days, Port Canaveral (with bus and tix to WDW with Fast Passes), Nassau, Castaway Cay and 2 sea days back to NYC. The 7 day itinerary didn't have Nassau.

We have done it a few times and it was great. Wish they would bring that back.

Well, add another 2-3 days to get back to Shanghai. And now you're looking at three days in port and 8-10 days at sea. And you probably want a second day in Tokyo since there are two parks there.

I'm skeptical that Disney can sell such a cruise to many people. They have very few cruises that long and almost all of them are repositioning cruises (transatlantic, transpacific, Panama Canal). The Hawaiian cruises and one or two European cruises each year are exceptions.

I'd love to be wrong about this, though!

The notes for the press release said they are removing the already installed casino for more "unique disney themed spaces" or something like that

Out of curiousity, do you have a link? I can't find any such references. Most reports seem to say that Disney hasn't announced anything at all regarding a potential casino.

I wouldn't be surprised either way, although I find the pearl-clutching about casinos a little bit strange. I understand the smoking issue (Celebrity addresses that by having exclusively smoke-free casinos), but the Bingo odds are sooooo much more of a rip-off than any game that is in a normal casino. It's a bit of a weird disconnect that many Americans consider bingo to be family-friendly. (I should note that I say this as someone that likes bingo.)

To me, casinos a waste of space on the ship. So, I don't want casinos.

Besides, the comparison with Bingo isn't fair. Disney only offers Bingo a few times during the cruise, the room has limited capacity, and the jackpots only go so high. That's nothing like unlimited casino access.
