My first solo trip

hey people! I'm 19 (20 on April 23) I've had a rough couple months and am going to MK for some me time.
I'm going on the 4th and am doing keys to the kingdom tour! I live in Tampa and grew up going to Disney multiple times every year. As I grew up we started going to Universal for obvious reasons. I'm shocked I've never taken the tour, though I bet I know all the secrets they tell you!
My main goal is to hook up with someone and get into the utildors. I figure I'm bout the age of a DCP intern, but who knows!

Any tips for solo would be appreciated!

The utilidors are high risk, low reward. The idea of them is very cool and their purpose is exciting. Parts of them typically just smell like garbage. That being said, 99% of the time (once you get down there) no one will give you a second look or care that you're down there. but one time I was asked if I was lost and then asked for ID. I wasn't in costume and just needed something form my locker. Wasn't even looking around, just walking. Finding doors is pretty easy, they're pretty none assuming but I'd be willing to bet there is a list of them somewhere online. Just be careful. and don't go down near Ad/Lib, that's where it really smells.

It sounds like once your their, you're good? What's the worst thing that could happen?

We loved the behind the scenes tour. If you go over to Epcot they have a behind the seeds tour at the Land that is great and not real expensive. I hope you have a wonderful time!!!! Danny

The very worst thing that could happen is you could be banned from Disney World forever. This has happened to other trespassers. Disney has stepped up security in response to global terrorism, so they might not take this lightly. Think about it. Actions have consequences.

Why would you want to go to the utildors outside of the tour, if you're not a cast member?

That's a huge security risk. And even if you're "about that age" of an intern, you're not a cast member. Do the tour and enjoy it! I wouldn't want to risk being banned from Disney forever. As accommodating and willing to help guests out to make the experience as magical as possible, I really believe Disney can be the opposite, too, and make it impossible for you to come back.

As a former cast member, I can confirm that seeing the utilidor is really, really not worth the risk of getting escorted out of the park and possibly even banned (especially when you can take a tour and see it without illegal trespassing!!). It's a set of concrete hallways with exposed pipes, and last time I was down there in 2009 and went through the deep tunnel that cuts through the middle of the park under the castle, it reeked of garbage down there.

It's also really, really easy to get lost down there and come up somewhere you don't expect and where cast members are going to spot you and know you don't belong. I actually worked at DHS my second stint there, so while I was a cast member and could show my card and go basically anywhere, the only reason I ever went under the park was to take a shortcut when on a busman's holiday. I stopped utilidor hopping after I accidentally popped up behind a gift shop counter and had a very awkward moment with the cast members actually assigned to work there. If that happened to you, you would have no ID to show them and the outcome could be significantly worse than the embarrassment I went through.

If you are going on the Keys to the Kingdom tour you will get to walk through a small portion of the utilidoors. I wouldn't ever risk doing anything that would lead them to escorting me off property and banning me from coming back, I love it there too much.

Just got back from my second solo trip, and my biggest tip (which is a tip for traveling even with a group) is to have a plan but be ready to deviate from it. THe best experiences aren't always scheduled. Also as a solo traveler it is easy to get a spot to see the fireworks and whatnot because you only have yourself to squeeze into a spot, so you don't have to show up early and camp out (unless there is a specific spot you might want).

I second that! I went solo a couple weeks ago. Front row seats at Fantasmic was awesome. No fast pass either!
