I hadn't considered the idea that people who don't yet have D+ might be turned off by thinking that it's NOT just a monthly fee and that random movies could also require an upcharge (I'm not saying it would be "random" movies, but the impression could still be there)
I am just trying to think how this would work. If they put a "buy now" button in the D+ app (any app), the chances a child will hit "buy now" is pretty good. On the other hand, if they off-site the purchase like Hulu does (you need to get on a computer instead of the app), then the chances of me (an adult) making a spontaneous buy drops. And where would the ad be so you know you can purchase? In the app software or on a landing page on computer? Software design and consumer flow is important when selling things.
Hulu does this loopy thing where I can look at channels to purchase in the app (ps4, not sure about the phone app) but I have to run to my computer, log in and search for the thing I wanted. Invariable, with the fine print, I can't even tell if what I see on the computer is the same thing I saw in the app. So, I have never made a purchase.
Plus Hulu has some rather odd options for viewing. I looked up the TV show Cloak and Dagger on the PS4. I saw a suggestion to purchase an add-on channel, so I could watch it for "free" with that pay-for channel. I scrolled down and found the show was actual on Hulu, which didn't require me to do or buy anything. Disney/Hulu doesn't make good choices from a consumer perspective sometimes.
