MK Rope Drop?

We hope to be there for the opening of MK on our next trip!

How is the opening of MK handled...I haven't done it in five years?

Do they have a rope drop as such and if they do, what time does it occur?

Thanks!:earsgirl:

They have the official opening announcement regarding having a magical day and "walking" to your favorite rides etc.. and then they lower the rope at 9:00.
They usually allow people in the park beforehand and hold everyone at the hub in front of the castle at each spoke with a rope and cast members.
It's always a good idea to be there at the entrance to your favorite land at opening time. I know we like to.
Have fun!

we just came back and if you stand in front of the train station, they have singing and dancing and then the train pulls up with lots of characters on it. then the chosen family throws pixie dust and everyone cheers. it was really exciting for the kids

We just got back...

At the MK, they didn't allow anyone to enter the turnstiles before the opening time. We were allowed through security, but then we had to wait. They do the train show with the characters and chosen family about 5 minutes before opening. Then, everyone counted down from 10. It was excited...even without an official ropedrop.

When we were there last month, we had breakfast at the castle one morning, with an early seating at 8:05. We had a great breakfast and finished up around 8:50. As we left the restaurant, obviously we were already in the tunnel that runs through the castle to fantasyland. We were able to stay right there until they allowed us in at 9:00. It may not seem like much of a difference, but being able to start there instead of further back was amazing! We rode 6 rides in fantasyland in the first hour we were there! If you plan a breakfast at the castle, do it early and enjoy this little bonus!

When we were there last December, the crowds were able to go through security but had to wait at the turnstiles. We were the first family there and we got picked to be one of the magic families and got to "open" Magic Kingdom that day! It was an amazing experience! Over the loudspeakers they spoke of Walt's vision for a place for families, and there was an official countdown at the end we threw pixie dust in the air and the turnstiles magicaly opened!
