Milwaukee Marathon (1 mile, 5k, 10k, HM or M) DIS Meet Race - Oct 14th and 15th 2017

Parking is weird. Does everyone know where they are going to park?

My husband will drop me off at the start. Not sure where he plans to park for the finish (with at least one of the three kids - maybe more.)

  • $5 Lot at the Italian Community Center - 631 E Chicago St - 0.8 Miles from Start
  • $5 Lot in the 3rd Ward - 212 N Milwaukee St. - 0.7 Miles from Start
  • $5 Lot in the 3rd Ward - 225 E Chicago St - 0.7 Miles from Start
Looks like 225 E Chicago St is closest:

Florida St has 2 hour parking but not on Sundays

Seems like a good deal of street parking in the area, but who knows. I think I read road closures start around 5:50am.

Yeah I got all that and looked through maps and such. I’m still not sure where I should park. I’ve been to the Italian community center before so I might just park there because I know where that is. The other locations don’t seem to be as large either. I wanted to see where others were going to park if they were driving.

I was going to do the Italian center or 225 Chicago as well, but might come at it via the Florida St to see if there are any street spots available first that are closer.

New slogan: run like your parking meter is going to expire!

We'll be in the hotel lot and then walking, so I hope it's an easy walk on over. Looks like it should be based on the event guide course map.

Ha! My husband usually parks at his office and walks to finish lines. But the start/finish is a little further this time, so I'm not sure if he's using one of the parking areas listed instead of office parking spot. I'd say ICC is probably the best of the options they are suggesting. I was talking with my fellow cross country coach about this earlier in the week, and we agreed it's not the most convenient start/finish. But I do prefer the new half marathon course over the course from last year. And if they have space at the finish for all this kids' stuff/bouncy house, then all the better! @mateojr is very excited about that. He asked about Gigi's plans for the weekend, and I said I didn't know but that he might be able to meet roxykiddo! :)

I saw the porta potties going up on the course today, so we're getting close!!

I've got my packet picked up already too. It took longer to park than actually get the packet. Haha. Now to chill on the couch for the rest of this dreary, rainy day. There's still a mention of a chance of showers in the morning, but hopefully the steady stuff passes through overnight.

I think I'm going to have someone drop me off in the morning. Planning to leave around 5:30 so I should hopefully be there before 6.

The chance seems to go down after 6AM (according to AccuWeather) so thats good.

So, anybody know of any good pasta places around here (my hotel is right next to the start/finish line)?

Downtown I don’t unfortunately. There might be a Bartalottas around there which are good restaurants but expensive. My favorite is That’s Amore but that’s not downtown and in Hales Corners.

Could do Balistreris which is on Bluemound but still not downtown. Closer to downtown but not in downtown.
