Mears vs Uber/Lyft to/from MCO

Have you considered a private transfer? It will be more expensive than Mears Connect, but your chauffeur will meet you at baggage claim and escort you right down to the car, then take you directly to your resort. No waiting for other people to board the bus, no going to multiple stops, and you’ll be in a private luxury vehicle.

Everyone has their own comfort level I guess but I am sure you would be fine taking an Uber. They are vetted and registered with their license and car tags, etc. The majority of awful stories one hears are of young ladies getting into the wrong car at a disco or bar after a night of drinking. An older woman with her granddaughter at WDW would undoubtably be safe. At least as safe as any other form of transit. There are crazy people and freak accidents anywhere of course.

This popped up on my screen, so I wanted to add my very recent experience using Uber from MCO to Beach Club and also from Beach Club to Old Key West.

We had 4 people (2 adults/2 kids) and a big piece of luggage plus stroller. We needed an UberXL. It was approx $60 with tip in each direction between disney and airport. We arrived somewhat late on Friday night and the line for the Mears bus area was very long and crowded. Once we found our luggage, I ordered the Uber and it was at Section #1 within 5 minutes. No issues. We only had a booster seat so car seats were not an issue.

Going home the Uber was even quicker and we had to scurry to get outside. It was less than a minute! Both experiences were easy and efficient. No complaints.

Drive within Disney property was also fine. It was about $12 but we had a breakfast reservation and didn't want to deal with transferring from buses, etc. The only complaint I had here was the music - lots of curse words and inappropriate stuff for my little kids to hear. It was 1 particular song so it wasn't the whole ride, but I was just hoping they didn't pay attention!

I travel as a single woman for work all the time. ALWAYS check license plate. If driver doesn’t address you by name, ask them your name. I do it like this…. Hi James, if just say hi (rare) I say, “what’s my name?” And they tell me my name.
Thanks for this, I needed the reassurance for our upcoming trip. I’m traveling solo with the kids and my eyes aren’t the best as of late so trying to drive at Disney may not be a great option this trip.

I booked Mears connect after looking at the pricing for Uber/Lyft there was just way to much variation and it was always higher one way than paying for the transfer paying for a regular Uber for 3. I have already had my share of issues at airports with very high pricing and waiting for 15-20 minutes. When ME was still a thing the lower pricing and wait times were far more assured than they are now. If you will be upset when a one far is 50-100 book the shuttle or you can wait and refresh the App as the price will fluctuate. From the resort to the airport your price will likely be closer to the lower end.
