When we went to DW in February our luggage was picked up prior to going through baggage claim (i was unaware of this and thought our luggage was lost). Do we need to pick up our luggage at baggage claim for the cruise and take it down stairs with us?

If you put your cruise bag tags on your luggage and are using Disney transfers, they will pick up your luggage and transport it to the ship.

This, of course, only applies to those with a high risk tolerance who fly in the day of.
Depends. "day of".....

We, typically, take the red eye out of CA, arriving at MCO around 6:00am. Most of the time I feel that gives us enough "wiggle room".

Of course, before we leave, I've checked what flights are available from CA the day(night) we fly in case we have to book a last minute change for whatever reason.

Of our 23 cruises, we've only had to fly to embarkation port 8 times, 7 times we flew in the day of embarkation.
