Jumping January Exercise Challenge

I chose this as our theme for the month because after the holidays I'm ready to get back into the swing of things and start moving again!

so.....with that in mind:

The challenge for January is ON! The goal of this thread? To make a commitment to exercise for a specific number of minutes this month (you choose the goal that works for YOU).

A goal of 30 minutes a day will be 930 minutes for the month

A goal of 1440 minutes for the month is 24 hours (a full day!) of working to improve your health

So set a goal and join in!

When you achieve:

10% of your goal, your color will change to Blue
25% will bump you up to Orange
at 50%, we'll celebrate by turning you Purple
at 75%, you will become a Great Gray Go-Getter!!
In keeping with tradition, you be Red at 90% (cuz you're on fire!)
and you'll be Wish Green upon achieving your goal.

Whether you've joined this journey in the past or if you're a newbie - WELCOME!

I got this thread started just under the wire! Who's joining us?!

I'm going for the same goal again this month - I keep thinking I could make goal if I reduced my goal a bit but go big or go home I guess!!

so I'm in for 1575 again this month

I'm in! I'm planning on working out using Jillian Michael's 30 day shred video daily and eventually hope to work my way up to her longer work outs. I hope I'm able to do so because the last time I did it made me feel great(I got sick and working out was forgotten about :(). I'm determined to lose weight and get in shape before our September trip.

Her videos are 20 minutes, so my goal is 620 for this month.

Hi everyone! I'm new to all of this but wanted to get into the action.

I have a big run in February that I need to keep training for...team run of 135 miles in 24 hours, in PA, to deliver mail from pediatric cancer patients to dancers at a fundraising event in their honor!

I will set a big goal of 1600 minutes this month. Yesterday I managed to fit in a run so I am at 80/1600.

Good luck everyone!

I'm definitely in again. My goal is 930 for the month. 30 min per day.

My p90x3 set came on Tuesday and I did the first workout yesterday. It was soooo hard but I really liked it. My plan is to do this series from now until the end of march and then hope I have enough time to get back into running for the 5k that DH and I do each year the first weekend in may. I think I might just go out for a jog once a weekend or maybe i can make the program an 8 day rotation so I can have one day of running until April when ill go back to more running. I can definitely see that this will benefit my running from two things- first I will definitely be stronger and have more agility and core fitness. Second, I think I will lose weight also (especially since I'm also really watching what I eat). If I can lose some weight I know I'll be faster both for the 5k and for the wine and dine in the fall.

day 1 done 30/930

And happy new year everyone!

I posted the above in Decembers thread so sorry for the duplication. I'd like to add that this morning Im so sore I can't imagine how ill make it thru my workout tonight. But I'm gonna try!

dizzyr! you're awesome for coming through again and helping to keep us all on track.

Please put me down for 1000 minutes

Yesterday's run was 51 minutes so I'm currently at 51/1000.

dizzyr, thank you for getting this thread started and for hosting once again this month!

Put me down for 1000, please.

I'm in for sure! I have to be conservative with my goal this month, because January is the busiest month of the year for me. We start daily rehearsals on Monday for the student-run musical that I'm in charge of, and I'm working pretty late most days plus we have 3 Saturday rehearsals. So I'll make my goal 500 minutes for the month. I might change it if I find that I can manage more, especially since the last week of January is Regents week (NY state testing) and there are no classes going on, so we have all day rehearsals and I don't go into work until 12:00 those days and I work until 7:00.

Yesterday I took the day off from exercise, as I always like to have a lazy New Year's Day and relax and watch The Honeymooners marathon that they show every year. I had planned to work out first thing today, but I woke up sick this morning with a stomach virus. :(
It's been going around here, both my boys had it already (one of them had it twice, a week apart), as well as my sister, my 11-year-old niece and my 1-year-old nephew, and my father too. I suppose I was bound to catch it too. These things are the worst for me, I hate stomach viruses.

So the plan is to rest today and tomorrow and resume working out on Sunday. Tomorrow is my nephew's first birthday party so I should be fine for that, just won't be eating anything that could aggravate my stomach. Back to work on Monday, 3 weeks left to the semester and daily rehearsals. It's gonna fly by!

I'm in again for 600 min this month.

50/600 so far...

Thanks for hosting again!! :)

Thanks for hosting Dizzyr! I'm in for 1000 minutes again. As I did for December, I'm only going to track yoga and running in hopes that it will motivate me to get out and run and take all those yoga classes I paid for!
40/1000. Ran on the treadmill yesterday

Happy New Year! I am in, and my son got me a "fit bit", made by Garmin, not sure what it is officially called. He set me up in the computer already, and I didn't want to say out loud how much I weighed. (That should be clue #1 how Denial is a bit part of my story!!:rotfl::wizard: He handed me a paper!

Anyway, I am going to set 900 as my goal again! :woohoo::scared1:

dizzyr--thank you so much for hosting again! I really do appreciate everyone who hosts.

I am in again for 1500.

I didn't swim this morning, but I did walk. Note to self. Just because you wake up 3 minutes before the alarm does not mean you turn it off! :headache:

89/1500

Happy New Year everyone! This is such a great idea to help each other stay motivated. I would love to join in. My goal for January will be 600 minutes.

Day 2 of p90x3 done! Plus I was sore so I did the cold start warm up as they recommend. So 43 min for me today.

73/930

Updated to here!

I feel like a slug since it's been ages since I've worked out. I can't wait until Monday when the kids are back in school and we are back on a regular schedule again. I'll have some lost time for make up for!

I've been sick but am going to start doing a little something tomorrow. Put me down for 870 please!
