January Exercise Challenge - First Things First!

Here it is - a new year, :cheer2: and a new opportunity to make a healthy lifestyle a priority. "First Things First" - take care of yourself, then you can better take care of others and handle all the things going on in your life.

And what better way to keep yourself motivated - reporting your successes (and sometimes failures) to a caring group of likeminded, supportive DISers!!!


How the challenge works:

Post your personal goal for January (xxxx minutes of exercise) and then post updates as frequently as you like. Progress will be recorded here in this first message.
Please post your update total at the top of your post.
You are also welcome to share your activity as well.
EXAMPLE:
301/1800
45 min running.

As you reach milestones for the month, your name and total will change color:
At 10% you'll be purple and on the move!
At 25% you'll be hitting it hard and hot pink!
At 50% you'll be orange and halfway there!
At 75% you'll be Blue and cruising to the finish
At 90% you'll be red (because you'll be on fire!)
And at 100% you'll be WISH green!

Hello! New to one of these challenges but really excited to join in. :yay:

I'm setting my goal for January low since I've never done this before.

Goal for January: 1000 minutes

(Am I doing this right? Please let me know if I'm not.)
 


I am in setting it for 2200 this month. I set that as last months and just came up shy, so really going to shoot for meeting it this month!

I'll join. We're going to be starting me on some new meds next month, so hopefully I'll be able to be more active. And I got the exercise bike running (it needed batteries ... who knew??), so even on days I can't get out and walk, I'll be able to go on it for a little bit.

I'll start off with 1000. Seems like a nice, round number. :)
 
Never participated in this before but a friend and I are starting couch to 5k. Since it's the first month, I'll say 1,000 is my goal!

Same here! I've never done this before, but DH and I are starting C25K and since I despise running with a passion I want another reason to stick to it.

With the running, circuit training videos, and my martial arts classes, I'm going to make my goal 2400 this month. Not sure I'll make it, but you gotta aim high, right?
 
Thanks for hosting this. I would love to join. I am hoping to do 1500 min. I am starting to train for a 10k in March plus I really want to get healthier in general. Hopefully reporting my progress will help keep me motivated.

I am back. I have halfheartedly participate a few months out of the last 3 years. Yeah I'm lame. :rotfl: So I am going to put down 500 and hope I can surpass it!
 
My own personal goal was 30 min a day, equals 930. However, I am going to shoot for 1000. You guys will have to be my support system. DH doesn't mean to but he has a tendency to sabotage.
 
I'm aiming for 2,000 per month. Starting it off tomorrow with a 4 mile run at the local running shoe store!
 
I am joining in!!!! I just made a promise to get to the gym more often. My goal is going to be 1200 Need to make it happen
 
I'm in again this month for 1600. Thanks for hosting and congrats again on your half. Did you cry when you crossed the finish line? I did on my first one :)
