Is Remy approachable?

This will be a first-time Disney cruise for my family, sailing on the Dream in October. My husband and I are considering an evening at Remy, but for all the experienced cruisers out there, just how approachable is the menu? We’re not exclusively “chicken fingers and hot dog” eaters or anything, but I doubt our palettes are conditioned for anything too exotic (snails? Liver pate?) and I’m a little intimidated by how high-end Remy seems to be. For someone used to steakhouse fine-dining, how does Remy’s menu compare?

I have similar tastes to yours. I appreciate a special meal now and then, but am not a "foodie" and I won't eat snails or frog legs or even most types of shellfish. I tried Remy brunch once, which had a single set menu, and disliked most of what they happened to be serving that day, even the dessert, so that put me off Remy for years. A few months ago I had Remy dinner for the first time, and loved it. There are two dinner menus to choose from, and some modifications are possible, and I really enjoyed everything I was served. I was blown away. So I recommend Remy for dinner. It's a great atmosphere and great food. My server was very nice.

I also recommend skipping lunch and having a light breakfast the day you have dinner at Remy. You'll want to arrive hungry.

So hard to answer questions like this because everyone is different in their tastes. What may seem too exotic for you may be just exotic enough (or maybe even not exotic enough) for me.

You can find sample menus from Remy on the internet. Take a look and you will get a feel for how ”approachable” the food is for you.

I will say this - Remy is not Ruth’s Chris or Fleming’s. It is much more varied and creative than that. A lot more thought and work is put into the meals to make them something special.

One nice thing about Remy dinner is that each course is small, so if you truly hate a dish, you won’t have much of it. If you have foods that you cannot or will not eat, you can inform the chef in advance. If you’re simply not sure you’ll like something, it is worth giving it a try. You may discover that it’s not as bad as you fear, and if it is, you’ll have several other courses to like.

So my husband and I won’t eat offal. We always put that as our restriction. If there’s something that is a no-way, no-how, make a note of it. Otherwise, I think you’ll find the food ingredients recognizable but in different combinations/flavor profiles.
As PP stated, check menus, the courses are small, and you can always swap with your partner.

I am a relatively picky eater but when it comes to Remy (and Victoria and Alberts) and they try to explain what is in this exotic dish, I just hit the “I believe” button to say it was crated by some top chefs, I am sure it will be fantastic. Of the times I have been, have not been disappointed and glad I tried everything.

We found our experience at Remy to be fantastic. Nothing too exotic was served, just beautifully presented dishes with food items you may already be acquainted with. Such as our first course was a tomato soup little bite- it looked like a little mac and cheese bite, but it was filled with the my delicious tomato filling that tasted just like the best tomato soup you have ever had. I guess that is the best way I can describe the way food is served there.

It is very formal looking, but I found our servers went above and beyond to make us feel relaxed and comfortable. Now-when I got up to use the restroom, a gentleman came and escorted me! I was a bit embarrassed, but he was so adorable I ended up enjoying the experience! LOL

It was an amaing anniversary dinner for us-one we will never forget. Hope you enjoy!

I cant speak for lunch/dinner as I'm a very fussy eater and can't justify a Remy cost for what I've seen on example meus/reveiws and risk not enjoying anything.

That being said we really wanted to experiance something different on our honeymoon Cruise so we got the Remy Dessert experiance. If you like desserts of different kinds I would highly recommend this.

Even though there were things I wouldn't necessarily choose, they were nice to try. The experience was only dampened by our rough seas (even the crew were feeling it) but they did their best to look after me and my seasickness along side serving some amazing plates.
