I have been hearing a lot about Pirates of The Carribean being closed for a lengthy referbishment. Does anyone know Dates, how long, etc? Will the blue bayou be closed as well? BUMMER!

According to AL Lutz yes both Pirates and BB will be closed September 7 to November 23 for refurbishment. I know he is an insider but he does not work for Disney from my understanding. I am not sure there has been an official word on this yet.

They've probably run the numbers and realized that the bulk of their guests at that time of year are AP's. Since there really is no "slow season" anymore (thanks to AP's...), they will probably continue to do most closures when the bulk of their visitors are traditionally AP holders... since they disproportionally spend the least amount of money. It makes perfect business sense to close attractions at those times.

We like going several times in sept before halloween season begins because it is so empty. Probably will be more so this year due to so many closures. I guess its the best time to get stuff done before the busy holidays roll around! It is sad but what can you do.

MousePlanet lists those same dates for closure. When the Pirates ride is refurbished, the Blue Bayou is also closed.

Aw, too bad Pirates will be closed for Halloweentime!
Seems like pirates fits in well during Halloween. Wonder why they choose that time to refurb it?
Oh well, there is a reason for everything!
