"Is it more fun to go by yourself?" "Well, I sure think so!" August 2014

I think I somehow got behind on your TR, but I am all caught up now. It looks like you had a fun day at the water park. I love all of the character meets. The pascal shot is awesome!! And I too love your top. :)

I love all your character meets! You're making me want to do some more. It's been very rare that I've done them... For some odd reason I feel a little shy about them, so it's weird. Oh well, I'll keep up with your photo ops with the characters and maybe I'll gather up the courage for my next trip!

Too cool about the GF and Alice!

I used to be pretty shy about them too, but now I just have fun with them. In my experience, the characters like talking to older people because they can interact a little better, I think.

Yay joining in.

As I read the start of your trip report was just thinking to anyone not familiar with WDW it must sound crazy Flew to Orlando stayed in Jamaica visited France, England, Mexico etc :rotfl2:

I love the sparkles on Minnie's dress at HS. I always fine her an odd character to meet because she's pretty much like meh I'm great and does her own pose that doesn't really interact much with whoever she's meeting. At least that's what I've found when I've met her anyway :confused3

Love the magic shots with chip! I just ordered the photopass plus for Disneyland I plan on stopping at every photographer ad asking them for all the magic shots they can do :goodvibes

Luvin the pictures with Duffy as well. I'm so sad they took him out of Disneyland :(

Dug is to cute as well and luvin the Pascal PP shot to. You've met so many characters so far. :thumbsup2

I thought "bling" Minnie was cute too. :lovestruc She tends to do the same pose no matter what, but sometimes I ask how she would like to pose and she'll show you what to do.

If I recall, Disneyland had a lot of photographers but not as many magic shots as WDW.

I think Duffy is cute, but PB hates him. I think how he came into existance is a little odd, but he's just a teddy bear, how can you hate that?! Plus I love him in his holiday costumes-pumpkin Duffy is my favorite.

LOVE that flowered Mickey top!!!! I take it you bought that at Disney??? :scratchin

Yup, I bought it at the cast member store behind MK last year. Never seen another one like it!

I'd love to catch a PP photographer by the fountain. And AHH a Pascal magic shot?! I want that!

Fairy Godmother meets in the morning and early afternoon, so check around then and there will probably be a photographer.

I'm quite surprised by how many people love that Pascal shot!

Back in Storybook Circus, I sat on a planter in the shade for a few minutes because it was very, very hot already, at 9:30 in the morning. Unfortunately, families with small children were lining up at the doors of Pete's Silly Side Show, so I had to wait in the sun with them. Promptly at 9:45, all four characters opened the doors and welcomed us in. I headed for the Daisy/Minnie side first, because it seemed more families wanted to meet them and then there would be a shorter wait for Goofy/Donald. There were only a couple groups ahead of me, and I was hugging Daisy within two minutes.

And lastly, Donald and his super creepy snakes!
wd007wdw2014228109681430.jpeg

I think this was me telling him how scary those snake eyes were:
wd008wdw2014228109681515.jpeg

He offered to cover up their eyes for me!

Over to new Fantasyland again:
wd011wdw2014228109634745.jpeg

I joined the line to meet Gaston, and I have to say, this was my FAVORITE meet of the trip. The line was about 10 minutes, but he had everyone in stitches. There was a young boy, about 8 years old, and Gaston shared his tips for getting a girl to fall in love.
1)Pull 'em in close
2)Make eye contact
3)Give her a blinding smile
4)Wink
5)Throw her a kiss

My turn! He showed my autograph page to the entire line and said, "THIS is something acceptable to bring me, because it has ME on it!"
wd069wdw2014228109645641_7033870408_18.jpeg

wd014wdw2014228109645642.jpeg

He then proceeded to hand the autograph book to an older gentleman in the line, because he "doesn't give books to women on principle".

Then there were a ton of shots of him just being flirty:
wd016wdw2014228109645644.jpeg

wd017wdw2014228109645645.jpeg

wd018wdw2014228109645662.jpeg

wd019wdw2014228109645663.jpeg

At one point he stage whispered, "I don't know if you know this, but you might be blushing just a little bit...and by may be, you are...and by a little, I mean even your ears are red!"
wd021wdw2014228109645664.jpeg

wd022wdw2014228109645665.jpeg

wd027wdw2014228109645668.jpeg

wd029wdw2014228109645671.jpeg

Something was also said about him being a treat for the eyes *and* the ears.

Gaston says, "It was nice to meet you". I say, "It was nice to meet you too", and he replies, "Yes, it was".
wd031wdw2014228109645675.jpeg

Oh my gosh, it was great! After I got my autograph book back, I walked up to Main Street to chill before Dream Along with Mickey.

Great character meets! The Gaston one is great....the pictures definitely tell the story. :)

Love your Gaston pictures and interaction! Always fun to have a good interaction like that.

I was there for the opening of the new Fantasyland and so wanted to meet him but never had time. Definitely a priority for my next trip after reading your report!

Can't wait for more, love your tr!

The Gaston M&G sounds epic! That just totally made my day! I'm visiting from the DL board just to read your TR because I enjoyed your DL one so much. Thank you for sharing your adventures! :wave2:

Oh I love your Gaston meet! I actually tried to get in line for him, but the line was closed!

I'd heard that Gaston is one of the best characters to meet and I'm so glad I experienced it for myself. Definitely one of the *best* meets I've ever had!

Up by the Hub, I got a pic near the Partners statue.

That was just around 10:20. I sat on a bench and people watched until 10:35, when Dream Along with Mickey was starting. It had been 7+ years since I last watched this-at that point they were still wearing blue outfits for Year of a Million Dreams!

A cute little show for sure, but not really a must do. It was only 11am but my gosh, it was so HOT! The heat and humidity were just draining. So I headed out, boarded the monorail, and then took the tram back to the car. It seemed to take the Heroes tram forever to show up, and then we just sat for awhile. Back at the resort, I stopped in at the food court to grab some lunch.

At some point I realized my license was missing! :scared1: Before you all panic, I have two-New York doesn't require you to surrender them when you get a new one. One is my Enhanced License, for crossing the border, and that was safely at the hotel. But my other one has the better picture, and that was the one I brought to the park. It was in a back slot of my autograph album, along with a gift card. I suspect it fell out when Gaston handed the album off to that guy. So I knew that would mean a trip to Guest Relations when I headed back to the park later that evening. In the meantime, it was time for a NAP in the air conditioning!

Just caught up - great report so far - I could easily do a solo trip!! Looking forward to the rest of the report. We are booked at the beach club next August- looks like it's going to be very hot and humid

can't wait to read more! your trip report is good preparation for a trip i have planned with my friends in just one week. it's reminding me about some things i must do... like meet Gaston and order Memory Maker-- you got some great pics!

I'm back from my first solo trip, and all caught up here! Just wanted to let you know that I had a GREAT trip, and thought of your TR often while I was there! I was so inspired that I started writing my own, to hopefully help others who are thinking of going solo. :)

Also... I HAD THE SAME GASTON when I was at MK on Sept. 27th! Wasn't he just hilarious?! It was hands-down the BEST character meet of the whole trip!

Seems like you're having fun solo! It's totally making me want to take another solo trip.

OH NO! It's no fun losing things! And a DL? EEEK! At least you had a back up but still! Was the GC still there?

Sounds like you were having some great character meets that day! The one with Gaston sounds like great fun!

Hope you were able to find your other license.

Thanks! I stayed at Beach Club Villas in 2011 and liked it a lot. This year the humidity was record breaking, I think-hopefully it won't be as bad for you!

I've been reading your TR, just haven't had time to post on it yet. I keep thinking "Oh, such and such a thing happened to me too" about things you'd experienced. We had the same Cinderella/Rapunzel combo too, as it turns out. One of my other friends met the same Gaston a few days ago and loved him too!

Yup, gift card was still there, thank goodness-that was all my spending money for the whole trip!

Nice pics of DAWM, especially the last shot!

Hope you were able to get your license back.

Thank you! Stay tuned for license drama...

Yes, some awesome meets this trip!

My ADR at 1900 Park Fare was at 4:45, so I believe I headed back to the TTC around 4. Boarded the tram and it sat for a few minutes while the rest of the row filled up. The spieler was too funny, and I still remember, two months later, that I was parked in Rapunzel 61. She kept reiterating that, over and over, and after she'd given all the park hour information she goes, "But of course the most magical information of the day is...WHERE DID YOU PARK YOUR CAR? Rapunzel 61!"

So we made it up to the tram unload area and I hustled to the monorail, since it was rapidly approaching 4:45. The monorail came pretty quickly, but then it sat at the Poly for several minutes. Finally I made it to the Grand Floridian, and you can read my review of 1900 PF here.

After dinner, I had an Anna & Elsa FP+ for 6:20pm, so that was where I headed immediately after getting back to MK. The wait was actually pretty short, with the FP and I was meeting Anna by 6:27.

This book was in between Anna and Elsa:
IMG_3912.JPG

Elsa was so pretty! Some of the Elsa photos I've seen, she just doesn't look anything like I picture, but this one was beautiful!

My Seven Dwarfs Mine Train FP+ wasn't good until 7:40, so I decided to go and meet Tinker Bell in her new home at Town Square Theater. The wait was quite a bit longer than advertised (it turned out to be about 40 minutes!), but I stuck it out. I chatted with the family in front of me, and then when I was stopped at the rope, with the CM. I think she may have been on the college program, so we discussed that, and my own experience.

Tink was great! She spent quite a bit of time with each person, which you will never hear me complain about. I'd rather wait a bit longer and have a quality interaction than be sped through just to keep the line moving.
Love this cause it looks like she's tackling me!
wd073wdw2014228109880180_7034144367_18.jpeg

She loved her autograph page:

wd059wdw2014228109880204_7034144503_18.jpeg

After that, I headed over to Guest Relations to inquire about the missing license. Holy cow, the line was out the door and moving soooo slowly. Eventually I made it to the desk and nobody had turned it in yet, but I filled out an info card, and knew to check in at the TTC Lost & Found at any point after that.

At that point it was almost 8pm and my SDMT FP+ was definitely good so I made my way back to Fantasyland and into the queue.
IMG_3913.JPG

I waited maybe five minutes, and was paired with the odd person out from a party of 7. She had never ridden it either. I managed to get some blurry photos down in the mine.

A BEAUTIFUL sunset that was occurring that night:
IMG_3920.JPG

And a peak into the dwarves cottage while you're waiting to return to the loading area:
IMG_3923.JPG

I have to be honest, I thought the ride was just okay. It was kind of boring, and I didn't notice any extra side to side motion. The audioanimatronics were cute, but that's such a short part of the ride. I will probably do it on my next two trips just to ride with my mom and a friend, who may be interested, but I have no real desire to do so.

OK, so now it was 8:09pm, and once again, it's back to hot, humid, and really crowded. My initial plan was to return at 6 and do my FP+ items, then watch Celebrate the Magic and Wishes, followed by evening Extra Magic Hours. Right then, all I wanted was a Frozen Lemonade (my treat of choice on this trip, in case you couldn't tell!). I check the touring plans app, only to find that they are served in cup form in two places: Adventureland and Main Street. Now, I know the Main Street one is down by the train station, where I really did not want to go. So I tried the Adventureland Nut Cart which, of course, was closed.
Ugh, I can't find the one thing I want to eat, it's so hot, I'm tired, it's crowded, and then I try to take the path next to the Castle back to Fantasyland for my last FP+ and the CM says, "I'm sorry, this path is closed". I actually glared at her and immediately felt bad, because it's not her fault. So I went all the way around Liberty Square back into Fantasyland and over to Princess Fairytale Hall. My FP+ for Cinderella and Rapunzel was for 8:40 and the instructions about which line was for that were not clear. The wait was about 12 minutes (longer than Anna & Elsa!).
wd068wdw2014229109928462_7034140170_18.jpeg

wd074wdw2014229109928465_7034144726_18.jpeg

wd058wdw2014229109928466_7034144758_18.jpeg

I don't know, Cinderella kind of looked like a man to me.

Then Rapunzel, who was a bit bug eyed.
wd066wdw2014229109921306_7034144906_18.jpeg

wd075wdw2014229109921307_7034145783_18.jpeg

wd060wdw2014229109921309_7034145886_18.jpeg

And when that was done, I knew it was time to leave. I would not make it to Wishes without having a meltdown. I mean, I had GLARED at a CM, which is something I never do. So I left, and got my frozen strawberry lemonade from the Main Street Popcorn stand on the way out. Boarded the monorail, walked to the tram, rode out to Rapunzel 61, and was soon back in my bedroom at Caribbean Beach.

I think my original, original plan for Sunday had been to spend the morning at DHS and the evening at Epcot. Then when I missed the Frozen fireworks on Wednesday, I believe I switched that plan to be at DHS in the evening. And by the time Saturday night came, I decided to skip Epcot altogether, sleep in, and just go to DHS.

So sleep in I did! I went to breakfast at OPR around 11:30 and had a simple breakfast of fruit and a danish. Then it was time to spend some time at the Fuentes del Morro Pool. I went down both slides, floated around, and sat in one of the two hot tubs.

This slide is the better one for older kids and adults: it's longer and mostly enclosed.

This funny guy had been left by Mousekeeping (I took him home!):

I spent a bit of time in the room before venturing out to Downtown Disney. While some people were parked at the Marketplace lot, I was not destined to be one of them and ended up parking at Casting, without too much trouble. It was a short walk across the street and I entered by Basin. On the way to Wolfgang Puck Express, I stopped into the new Marketplace Co-op and saw this cute Mary Poppins themed collection that a friend had mentioned wanting.
IMG_3938.JPG

Had lunch at WPE, which is reviewed in my dining report, as usual. Ended up back in Marketplace Co-op. I have a Florida Orange Bird antenna topper, and my mom didn't believe he was a real thing, so I took pictures of all the merch in the store!

PB had recently gotten a 5C so I was taking pics of cases for him-very limited selection all over the property.
