If you could find out information on your ancient (B.C. era) ancestors, what would you want to know?

I’d want to ask the Neanderthals if they had been poking around the northern hemisphere <75,000 or >300,000 years.

I wasn't questioning your ancestorial knowledge, just if there was a particular time period you would want to explore that your ancestors were involved in within a particular region. I meant no disrespect.
No disrespect perceived! I just… well I’m happy with what I know already…aside from having a further conversation w/ my great grandparents as I mentioned above I do t have any questions for recent relatives. As far as BC ancestors, that’s so far removed that my questions would probably be more general in relation to the human race.

Maybe this article article could give you more clues? I have no clue how accurate the article is however.

Either way, here is a list of Lavantine cuisine that you may like to try if you haven't tried any before:

A favorite of mine is one pot Kabsa Chicken:

I use substitutes in the recipe with brown basmati rice and lime juice. The best thing about the recipe is you can make many substitutes to it to fit your taste preferences.

Another favorite Lavantine dish I enjoy is Musakhan chicken:

As someone who also has Levantine dna (well, technically Jewish but the same thing essentially), I find eating and trying dishes from the region helps bring me closer to that part of my heritage. I hope you enjoy the recipes if you try them. No worries if you have no interest in using them. 🙂
I was telling my husband how interesting I found the information you shared! I don't have very much family..like I never knew who my father was and haven't seen my birth mother since I was 4. Questions about history have always been very interesting. I really have enjoyed what you have shared <3

That has always seemed pretty cool to me. What if anything, do you feel you get out of it? Do you think you feel more grounded or does it make you feel proud?
Honesty, no. I know which countries my ancestors have come from BUT I don’t consider myself a hyphenated person and no one in our family considers ourselves anything but American. I’m sure my ancestors did both good & bad, but I don’t carry either pride or guilt for things people did in the past just because we have a biological connection OR because of where they originated from. My interest has always been more about personal interactions with family members.
The history of it all is interesting, and I enjoy knowing the minutiae of the who/what/when in terms of getting into the weeds of it all but it doesn’t change who I am.
I have family members who aren’t biologically related to me and I still consider them to be My Family and My Ancestor.

I think it’s all in how you approach the subject.

If you want tips on family genealogy, check out my Disboard thread on the subject. Genealogy is a hobby of mine, so if you want any book suggestions or have general questions, feel free to discuss the topic there as well. In regards to what @easyas123 has said, they are correct that family means something diffrent to everyone. Nothing wrong with that. I'm know much about my ancestorial history and it makes me feel closer to many of the ancestors I never knew existed. It's all a personal choice in the end. @Beezle2 , if genealogy is something you want to explore further, there are many resources to help you on that journey. 😃

https://www.ancestry.com/ does a free trial sometimes and usually does a discount rate during the holidays for new users.

Here is their DNA website as well:

I'm curious if you have done anymore research on your ancestry or tried any of the recipes since your last posting? If you want any tips on researching Levantine dna, I would be happy to give you some more tips. 😊

If we could do that we'd probably find that a lot of us are related.

Don't know if I can say this on this board but...
We ARE all related by a little thing called the Genesis Flood.
Every human being has been and is related to Noah and his family since the flood receded.
Therefore yes, we are all related.

I did 23and me and found out I am 1% Levantine and the rest Eastern European. That might be a good story. I imagine the Crusades and a dark eyed beauty in a burning love story. Realistically, someone was probably kidnapped into slavery.
@Beezle2 , what countries in particular did the results specify if you don't mind me asking? I have a theory about the Levantine dna depending on the particular eastern European country identified.

I will look that up later this week. I don't remember off hand. Hope you are having a good day 😊

No problem. We have been having on and off rain showers all day here in the Hudson Valley but I'm having a great day otherwise. I hope all is well with you as well. 😊
