I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

DP: took 10 days but United TB $100 credited on my platinum
Grabbed 2 more dgc from costco on Saturday. still had $1700 hit my cc today of dues. need to lan better and buy more throughout the year

hit all my MSR spending so time for something else. I do try to hit 15k on my surpass to get the fnc but that seems to happen organically. DH and I are both 4/24, been 90 days from past INK.

son just got engaged, wedding is in April so I'm sure there won't be a problem hitting spend!

lots of UR on INKS, need to get them transferred to my CSP account.

May go to Warsaw and Berlin end of March. Flights a lot cheaper to Warsaw than Berlin. LOT airlines. any opinions and things to do?

I have AA, SW, United miles and can transfer or use chase or capital one portal

should I just get another INK or something else?

FOMO - Had to try for one more INK. Applied for DH. Instant approval, only $4000 Credit Limit, but I can transfer Credit from other INKS. Still working on a AMEX Gold for DH but we have 6 months to meet the spend on that one. Going on a cruise next month, can easily cash out some $ in the casino towards the SUB on the INK.

DP on AMEX Plat Biz Credits. SW - purchased 2 flights under $100 on 1/3 was credited on 1/12. Purchased Dell stuff on 1/10 - so hopefully next week to see that credit.
how long since his last Ink?

Has anyone had a retention offer not post on a Chase card? In November, I was offered $50 to keep my IHG Premier account open, but the $50 hasn't posted. I tried SM and they responded today telling me to call. Ugh. I didn't use the card in Dec, so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it not posting. They offered me the same retention offer last year and I think it posted on the statement following the fee, but that didn't happen this time.

I had this happen with my SW card. Statement credit didn’t post after 3 billing cycles. I also was told to call. She said she could see the offer attached to my account, but for some reason it didn’t post automatically. She pushed it through manually and it showed up within a week.

In Berlin, we did a walking tour that was interesting. Also went up to the dome of the Reichstag Building (prior registration required). We stayed at the Grand Hyatt Berlin and found the location convenient.

DPs:
Yesterday I posted about getting a new CIC--today got confirmation via SM that they will match the 90K.

Today I convinced DH to get another CIU before the high SUB goes away--immediate approval and already got SM confirmation on the match.

We had planned to get these in the Spring but FOMO got the better of us. Will need to hit the fee-free Visas at Staples next month to help with the CIC MSR!

Our last set of INKs were from last summer, and DH's last Chase card was from early Sep, so I figured we were good to go. It's just that we were working on 2 MSRs already, but it seems we'll meet those sooner than expected.

Trying to figure out Airfare for DD22 and her friends for the Taylor Swift Concert in Vancouver, Canada next December. Most flights were just released. Looks like Alaska Airlines or United might be there best bets. How is Alaska Airlines? Have never flown them. Thinking DD could either get the Alaska or United CC to book on points. I know United is Chase - how easy to get Alaska CC? She is a nurse, so makes good $$.

You guys were giving me major FOMO, so I applied for another INK and was instantly approved! No need to expedite this time because I have plenty I'm already working on lol! I'm probably not going to apply for DH (his last was 10/23/23), but I'm going to think on it overnight and decide for sure tomorrow.

I just cancelled my AmEx Plat yesterday. I'm hoping that my peacock credits come through, but won't be the end of the world if they don't.

I'm going to be cancelling DH's plat at the end of this month. I've been putting our cell phone on his plat for the insurance. Are there other cards that have insurance if paid with them? If not, I'll probably put back on the CIC for 5x points.

If she won't have other use for AS miles, I'd just do united and make it easier.

AS is fine but I worry when I book them more than I do other airlines because they can be cancel happy here when it comes to weather. Like my flight sjc back home to sea last Feb was cancelled the day before because maybe weather. I anticipated this and had booked back up flights on dl both ways as I had an event I needed to attend. Flew dl home with zero issues.

Both AS and UA have max 9 so flights there would be an issue either way. I'd look to see what plane they have those flights on now. I'm flying AS to Bos with my ok in Sept so not worried about weather. Neither flight is on a max 9 so I think we'll be OK but that worry is still in the back of my head. Not sure I want to deal with booking back up flights when it's two of us, esp cross country, so I'll just have to hope it's good given what info I have.

But Dec, weather here will probably be fine so Van would be too. The cold air comes down from them and they rarely keep it to themselves 😂. So either should be fine.

All this to say this made me look up flights on dl to bos. Miles to book both aren't bad, not sure what to do. Something to think about but not for too long. My mom never goes on trips with me either so it's kind of a big thing. Both are nonstop with similar flight times.

Thanks for that. Maybe sticking with United would be good. I have lots of UR's that I can transfer for DD for her part. But still might have her get the United Card - then she gets free check bag too and priority seating. (and I don't have to use my precious UR's that I am hoarding...LOL)

I will need to transfer mr to top off my dl if I book my flights, which is fine but it also depletes my dl which I fly more than AS. So that makes it hard. Esp when I've been using and not adding lately, but all the offers for cards I want/can get right now are awful. If anyone wants to up some dl, Hilton or AS offers that would be great, preferably the 1st two.

I should ask my mom what she thinks, she hasn't mentioned the whole max 9 thing but I also don't know how much attention she pays.

Oh yeah, there are several sites where you create specific alerts for what you need. But I meant the miles bloggers. For instance, this message from Thrifty Traveler on Jan 10. I think they're all gone but if I hadn't gotten our seats at the 11 month mark, I could have used this. So it's good to keep an eye out

Yikes that is a great deal! Part of my problem these days is that my kids' lives are in flux (starting/finishing grad schools, starting new jobs, relationships, etc.) so travel planning far in advance is pretty much non-existent. I'm lucky I got seven months to plan Japan. It's not going to be perfect but if I waited for perfect, it wouldn't happen at all.

Regarding the blogs, which ones do you follow? I admit I am somewhat skeptical of bloggers b/c I suspect that their advice is driven by what is in their own interests.

The fnc would just be another 12k but it's also based on calendar year so it would only count spend from Jan 1. I can't remember if you have the card or were looking to apply but this would be something to consider. The 15k has to be done in 6 months for the offer but if it splits years it won't have a fnc without more spend. In that case I don't know that I would do it unless I hadn't spent much on the card before the year switched.
This has to be the most complicated SUB I have ever encountered. And you are correct that I totally spaced the same year requirement.

How valuable is the FNC? Is it easy to use? I keep reading about people trying to find good redemptions for various FNCs (admittedly I don't follow too closely b/c I don't have any cards besides now the Hyatt that involve FNCs).

A weird question: do you reply to the SM that says they will match? Like maybe, "Great, thanks!" or do you just not reply? Wondering whether it's polite or a hassle for them to receive a reply . . .
