I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

If I was approved for my last Ink 4/18, can I apply today, or should I wait until tomorrow?
We blew by p2 MSR by about $2k and I need a new card LOL, making me nuts.

For those that have gone for the elevated Hilton SUB, what are you doing with those points and FNC?

DH and I will each be applying for a card, so we'll have 300K + 2 FNC.

Going to Disney World in April, already have reservations that we could change. But don't have any other big trips where we could take advantage of the FNC.
So with these elevated SUBS, between DH and I we'll have 3 FNC + our normal 2 from our Aspires, so 5 total. I feel like we should use them on something really good, but IDK where.

Our go-to place has been WA Cabo Los Pedregal. We've heard amazing things about the WA Amsterdam, but wouldn't want to do 5 nights.

Switching gears and different brand, but I recall you considering safari. Have you looked at the new JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge on points? You'd need two rooms though, so that's a lot of Marriott points.

Sorry if I may have missed details but @Haley R where are you staying in Munich and @*WDW*Groupie* where did you stay? Wound up getting a presale code to Taylor Swift's Eras tour and have tickets for the show in Munich. I haven't even started looking at flights or hotels yet.
Congrats on the Taylor Swift code! Do you mind sharing how you got it? Dd really, really, really wants to see her, but I won't pay over $1,000.00 for a ticket, plus airfare and hotel. I tried to get tickets to her show in Sydney through AmEx, but they told me Ahead of the Line was only for AU AmEx cardholders. But I digress.

I searched for hotels in Munich and ended up settling on the Platzl. I got ds a smaller room and I booked the largest for myself. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the breakfast was very nice (not the best we've had, but far from the worst) and the location was outstanding. I would definitely stay there again. It is kitty-corner to the Hofbrauhaus, 1 street away from the high-end shopping area and 2-3 min walk from the main square (where the subway station is located). There is also a wash n' fold a 5 min walk from the hotel. I found the hotel to be an outstanding value. There was a hiccup with the final bill (had to do with the included breakfast that was charged to 1 room), but that was easily straightened out. Staff was extremely helpful; there isn't a concierge, so if that is something that you find useful it might influence your decision. The few times I asked the front desk staff for a recommendation they were very helpful. The hotel was very busy when we were there, but noise was never an issue (I asked for, and received, a quiet room).

Ever since the reddit blackout last month, the search tool I used for reddit has been down (and reddit's own search tool sucks). The reddit user who provided the search tool before (oops, different person) is working on a new one and it's bare bones still, however at least now you can resume searching reddit. I'll put it over on r/DISchurners under News.

I’ve decided that I’m going to get the business card (approved this morning)
DH is 3/24, he’ll get the Surpass
Then I’ll spend $15k on the Business, should be easy since our roof is $12k
That should get us 3 FNC, plus all the points. That should be enough for 6 free nights at WA or Conrad in Orlando.

Question on using the FHR credit on AmEx

DH and I both have the plat card with the $200 benefit. I was looking for something to use over Labor Day Weekend and found a hotel in Washington DC - it has the third night free, so the per night price over the 3 nights is very reasonable.

I can't find a way that we could use both of our credits on this, but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I was logged into my account and tried booking using points and credit card for the balance, thinking if I used my points and DH's CC it might work, but my CC (both plat and gold) are already showing up in the box to choose payment method and I'm not seeing any way to add his card when I'm logged in.

That really makes sense, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something!

I know I could split it up and book one night in my name and 2 in his, but then we don't get the discounted per night price

Thanks!

Would you need 2 rooms at the WA Amsterdam?

We'll have 5 FNCs too. I'm thinking of doing 2 rooms at the Roku Kyoto for 3 nights (1 night points). I think we can fit in 1 room there, but I was thinking the extra space would be nice since we have all those FNCs. Earn and burn lol.

You can't do that, you could do 3 nights on your card, then one more night on you DH's (booked from his Amex login). In order to get the $200 back you need to book through the portal.

So I'm kinda shocked that both Caesars and Wyndham are refusing to give any kind of compensation for the lovely incident we had Tuesday. I get at the end of the day it's not their fault that the guest was on meth throwing items out of the window. But we lost out on a pool day. Not to mention, I was standing outside the pool area in 100+ degrees for over an hour. Eventually a worker went and got us some bottles of water. But no one was really giving us any information. I had to walk over to an officer to see if we were allowed back in the casino, etc. I booked using Wyndham points, but they say it's on Caesar's to deal with it. Caesar's has said, it's not our fault. Staying at Hilton and Hyatt's I have full stays refunded for slight noise, or other issues. Customer service was lacking as well when we called immediately and asked if we could return to the room to get my bikini and they said no I'd have to wait until the crew was done for the day. Only to find out there are over 10,000 missing items being logged from that day.

I've sent 2 emails, to Caesar's customer service that got nothing other than, sorry not our fault. Clearly Caesar's diamond is worthless, unlike Hilton Diamond. I've sent about 5 emails to lost and found w/ no luck. We simply asked if they could wipe our room charges ($60) for the inconvenience/experience.

CNN asked for permissions. So maybe.

You can still merry go round. The Hyatt/MGM can still be matched I think till the end of the month. But then that will dry up.

Okay, I haven't read further yet, so I'm like, 'yeah, it's your (Ceasars) fault because 'your' (Ceasar's) guest impacted my stay.

That said, I think a token effort such as waiving your $60 room charges was reasonable. Especially as most of the guests from the previous night would have been elsewhere, gone back home or not necessarily impacted.

Good Will gestures often go a lot further than their cost. They put a positive spin on the business which can last for a long time such as when I stayed in my favorite oceanfront hotel and a jerk pulled the fire alarm which resulted in an evacuation. We received a gift letter for XXX$ towards a nice dinner. That was 2001 and I'm still telling people the story (hopefully not the same people repeatedly).

I applied for the Hilton Honors card and it was approved. However, I was surprised they did a HP for me. I have 2 other amex cards and they didn't do a HP for either of them because I previously held an amex card for years.

So feeling positive and making plans in our heads to use our FNCs, P2 applied for the same card and got the Pop Up. He used a referral from DD and he only has one amex biz card which he uses regularly (~ $200 every month).

Now what? Do you think he should try again with doc's link? Or is that a bad idea?

Same thing happened to me when I used DH's link, I ended up using Doc's link.

Everything I've seen shows pop up with referral and instant approval with doc link.

for all those that got the 10$+ Tmobile price hike im on googlefi now, i notice no difference in service and i don't have to buy data plans anywhere abroad (well there is like 200+ countries) it cost about 3$ more here in Florida per line then i was paying but I'm getting so much more (the service is also t=mobile in the us). I don't regret it also if you have a good payment history with Google and are bringing your own device with no credit pull.

He just got the pop up today but the limited offer last day is tomorrow. Do you think he should use the doc link today or wait until tomorrow? This is the first time for either of us to get denied so he is not happy with me.

I would use Doc's link, people have been using it for a couple of months now and no one has reported any issues.

I got pop up yesterday with support and then used DoC link right after.

Pop up is not a denial, but a canceled app. :D

THANKS!! DH applied using doc's link and POOF - INSTANT APPROVAL with no HP!!

IDK what I would do without this group.. :)

Also wanted to clarify that in no way were you denied, so please put his mind to ease about that. What we understand (Amex doesn't publish this info) is that Amex has some type of algorithm where they decide which offers will give people pop ups or not. One working theory is some of these very good offers aren't truly available by support links, but the DoC link seems to bypass the pop-up for just about everyone. Think of it like this, Amex is happy to give him the card bonus, but just doesn't want to also give the support points.

But next month a totally different card could be approved by support link. So there's no predictive way of determining without trying different links.

We're expecting some $$ medical bills within the next month, probably at least $10k. I was thinking I should maximize and open a new card or two. We don't have any big travel plans, but I wouldn't mind replenishing some UR's. I have an Ink Pref. from 2017 and DH has one from the same time frame. I'm wondering about getting one (or heck both of us) a second one. You can do that right? Do I need to cancel or downgrade the first one? Looks like we could do a referral one to another?

Does seem like a good option to earn some points? Any other ideas?
