How is everything affecting you personally? Making changes? Status quo? Too soon to tell?

Governor just shut down casinos, bars, nightclubs, movie theaters in Louisiana until April 13. Goes into effect tonight at midnight. Restaurants will be delivery/pick up only.

Just for a chuckle I need to tell you guys this. My sister home schools her 3 kids and has been for years. Her middle son is 10 years old. He was working on a math problem online and part way through all of a sudden there are dollar signs. It confused him even though my sister told him to ignore them.

Anyways - he said he could fix it. He hacked into the program, found where the dollar signs were and removed them so the math problem would be correct. That boy is going to be a programming genius as an adult. LOL

This was my college class this morning :rotfl: We're doing online classes next week and we were testing our webcams and our school's system this morning. It was a mess of technical difficulties and seeing each other from unflattering angles. Then one classmate's toddler fell over and started screaming, someone's dog was barking. Basically it went about as well as I thought it would

Thank you! I’ve been informed that the national guard will be conducting the patient screenings from now on, actually
Really? Where are you located in South Florida?

I have a routine appointment at Baptist this week, and I understand that they are screening at all doors. If anyone is symptomatic at all, they take their temp and if they have any fever they go right to the ED.

In the military so nothing has changed lol. Everyone goes to work as normal with a couple emails about wash your hands.

Well, we have our first official cancellation.

We had a 4 day trip to Key West scheduled with relatives who were driving down from Georgia. But yesterday Key West declared a state of emergency and closed three popular public venues -- two of which we were going to visit. Then the State of Florida closed all dining areas of restaurants -- nothing but take-out for a while.

So, if we can't enjoy casual dining at open-air restaurants listening to old Jimmy Buffet music, and we can't applaud the sunset at Mallory Square...what's the point?

So we sadly canceled...for the second time in two years. Last year Grandma broke her leg, forcing us to cancel. LIFE is seriously getting in the way of Margaritaville!

DD is also obviously going to have her Grad Bash trip to Universal canceled. Universal is closed, and today the Governor announced that Florida schools will be closed almost two weeks past the Grad Bash trip -- so that's only a matter of when.

HR cancelled all of our time off requests through April 30th to make sure the hospital is fully staffed. Not like we can go anywhere, anyway! We’re all going to get through this, guys. We got this!!

I was just in Key West on Saturday. It was the last stop of our cruise that ended in Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday.
I'm sorry you had to cancel your trip.....

Daughter works in a dentist office, the dental group just announced they are going to emergency only. All hours are being shortened for personnel. They have given each individual an extra 80 hours of PTO in case anyone needs to isolate. She normally works over 50 hours a week, so she is hoping they will still be able to pay their bills.

Our dental group has closed and they said they will only consider emergency cases on a case by case basis.

Not Baptist ;)

Yes, they've gotten really strict with the screenings here too. Yesterday they announced a no-visitor policy, amending our previous "visiting hours with one visitor per patient" policy we've had for all of a week. That'll be a fun one to enforce!

Baptist allows one visitor currently, although I saw a couple of people who had two. I can think of a dozen reasons why someone would absolutely need to have one or even two, and you can probably give 100!

Baptist has a good system...I guess. When I pulled into the parking garage, security handed me a questionnaire to fill out for the entry folks. The usual questions about health and travel. If you are all "no's," they check your temp (Light Sabre to the forehead - 97.4).

The people at the entry desk were masked, gowned, and wearing gloves. I'm not sure what their level was, but they knew what they were doing, so I'm guessing they were RN's.

PPE would have been amusing...if it weren't...
  • The valet guys were all wearing masks -- although I saw several of them with the mask down around their throat while driving. (I'm guessing they wear the masks to protect themselves when talking to customers. No gloves -- so apparently somebody thinks it's only that nasty air that can harbor the virus, lol! I mean, in a car, you certainly wouldn't expect to find any contamination on door handles, gear shift, steering wheel, etc...right? In Baptist's defense, the valet dudes are not Baptist employees.
  • I had blood work done and the phlebotomist was wearing gloves (of course!) and a gown, but no mask.
  • The reception kids at the checkin desk had nothing. They wore gloves when they cleaned stuff, but nothing otherwise. And they are face to face with patients at about 2-3 feet.
  • The RN and doc, however, were properly suited up -- gowns, gloves, eye protection, masks.

I'm essential personnel so I'm still working. Kids school is closed, but fortunately daycare is still open for now. Our income mostly comes from restaurants that my husband owns. Trying to scramble and figure out how on earth to survive this when they have all been closed. Even just the initial 2 weeks that we have been told to close, is enough to potentially close the doors for good. Without significant SBA assistance, and help from banks and vendors, lots of restaurants will not survive this. Lots of families will not survive this financially.

Good news! Nickelback and their fan remain unaffected:

Unaware of Coronavirus, Nickelback Continues Tour of Playing to Empty Stadiums

Completely oblivious of the Coronavirus, Canadian rock band Nickelback has continued the United States leg of their “All the Right Reasons” world tour as the typical crowd size of seven people hasn’t dwindled since the outbreak began. Public health officials who had advised the cancellation of concerts specifically stated that they will permit Nickelback shows to go on.

“Nobody will ever see a Nickelback concert as a possible public health hazard because they don’t have any fans,” CDC Robert Redfield stated, “We’ve confirmed that it’s just the tour bus driver, and a handful of the stage crew out there in the stands cheering the band on every night. It’s always been just them. In fact, if you want to be safe from the virus, one of the best places you could go is to a Nickelback concert, but I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.”

Thanks I needed this😂

My husbands company won't close unless one of their employees actually becomes sick so everythings status quo.

Because of the closures in Phoenix and Tucson, the medical VA paperwork to acquire medical care permission is delayed by backlog and personnel shortage. , if life threatening VA will pay for your emergency medical visit to the local medical facilitates which has always been the case. Since my tumors are not life threatening, the paperwork is waiting in line, once approved I can immediately go to the hospital labs where I live here in Yuma.....because there is no crisis here in Yuma, out in the middle of nowhere and we all retire here because we are very fixed income so none of our children or grandchildren traveled, nor did they want to visit us here anyhow. And if they close the Mexico border, read or listen to see if they close the border here in Yuma...because they may still keep that gate open.....because it is out in the middle of nowhere also.
