How embarrassing! Perceptions of DVC members...

Did the OP notice her new tag yet?:rotfl:

 What a great tag!

She said she was told her group could buy a park hopper ticket and go to all four parks.
So she had a hopper and figured a 3-day hopper was going to allow her entry to 12 different parks (all good so far right) except her idea was that meant they could go to the parks 12 days.

Wow! I have definitely been buying the wrong tickets! :rotfl2:

So does this mean it would be in my best interest NOT to bring that beautiful tote bag with me on my first trip home:sad1:?

FWIW, my family and I are always all decked out in DVCwear and never have any problems. We find that we get a lot more Welcome Homes that way...and people in the lines ALWAYS ask us all about it. It makes for fun conversations while waiting.
:goodvibes

Isn't it our right to demand EVERYTHING? I want to spend the price of 1 ticket for one day that will give me 12 days! I want to be in the front of the line on every ride! I want, I want, I want! Doesn't DVC stand for Demanding, Vicious and Controlling? :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: Yes, I'm from Massachusetts and we have no patience, so stay out of our way!;) Oh wait, can I say that or am I being too demanding, vicious and controlling?:rotfl:

Oh great...
Now we have to add Massachusetts to the list. :rolleyes1

Oh, no! I've been waiting for the day to be tagged - but I feel bad that I was quoting someone else's post from another board!

Nonetheless, it definitely hit home with me, esp after enduring the horrible posts about the Demanding, Vicious, and Controlling crowd! Somehow I could just HEAR this lady whining and it was a visceral response that I had to the story!

Well, thank you, Tag Fairy! And if you feel like you have to retract it since it wasn't my original quote, I won't hold it against you! :thumbsup2

I think every organization or club has individuals who think that they have a right to demand special treatment. Unfortunately, it does put a scar or blemish on the rest of the group. My dad belongs to a railroad club in which some members believe they have a "right" to walk on any rails they darn well please. I belong to a coaster club and some of the members believe they can go in "employee only" areas or that certain safety rules do not apply to them. We are still trying to recover a good image after one individual endangered their life while on a coaster several years ago. A bad image is difficult to overcome.

But I believe that most people in DVC are great people just trying to have a good vacation. If we all show the CM's a great deal of gratitude and appreciation for their work, I believe we can overcome the image from the few sour people in our midst. But I'm also the kind of guy that takes the time to thank the CM who is assigned to cleaning the restroom too.

I plan to wear my DVC clothing everywhere!!! :cool1: Cuz I'm from Massachusetts and like that lol!! :rotfl2: I only yell when I need something......Hey honey did you see the remote!!!! :rotfl:

It is a bit embarrassing to know that some folks are using their  "DVC status" to try to get a leg up on a situation. No wonder CMs run when they see us coming:confused3

Seriously, at one time, when we would check into VWL, there was one particular fellow(who fortunately is no longer at the front desk) whom I gathered would rather spit at us than check us in. He seemed very cold to DVCers. Wonder if this particular POP lady tried to check in at VWL before? Or anyone like her? Since he has been gone, we have had great CMs checking us in.

It is uncalled for to act in this manner in any situation. As my grandma always said, its easier to catch bees with honey than vinegar. How true that statement is. Not to say we as DVCers should recieve preferential treatment, but being nice can go a long way.

Face it - there are jerks everywhere. A number of them like to visit WDW and some of those are DVC members. I have seen some pretty rude people in my visits and they were not always DVC members. Most times they are in fact not members.

The problem is that when these people use the DVC name in their tirades, it allows people to categorize them. Add into that the phenomenon of guilty by association and you end up with CMs who hate dealing with DVC members.

It's sad but true... two of the "guest" groups the CM's consistently have problems with DVC and AP. There seems to be a "sub culture" of "I PAID A LOT AND I AM SPECIAL"

As a result, I don't were any AP or DVC type "logos" when in the parks....
At first, I thought that perhaps I might consider doing this too. But then, I decided that on my future trips, I'm going wear as much DVC logo attire as possible, and be as nice and cordial to the CMs as possible. We've got to improve our reputation among the CMs.

I have once seen a Manager at OKW have a DVC member escorted from the property for phyiscally threatening the CM over his room assignment. The Manager told the jerk's wife that DVC management would contact her regarding thier membership the next business day.

This always strikes me as odd. So many of us brag about what a GREAT DEAL we got and how our DVC pays for itself. Granted, its a lot of money up front - but it isn't THAT much money - compared to staying in a suite onsite for a week. Same thing with APs - yeah, it shows some loyalty, but you don't buy it because its going to cost you more than just buying a Hopper - you buy it because its a good deal for the way you travel.

I think some people are looking for any excuse to be entitled - and if it wasn't "I'm DVC - I spent a lot of money" it would be "I'm paying $200 a night for my hotel room" or "I'm an onsite guest" or "This is a special trip for our family."

I think we should all feel very fortunate that we were able to take advantage of a vacationing opportunity that most are not able to afford. I don't feel any more special or entitled compared to those who are not DVC members. Everyone's opportunities present at different times in peoples lives, and this really pales in comparison to having great health, constant employment, and a free society.

NY people are NOT rude it is just people visiting NY from other places are always in our WAY

Yep, we have to go through NY to get to WDW from MA! Does that count when we fly?:rolleyes1 At least we all have a good sense of humor!
