Happily Ever After best viewing experience for shorter people?

This is a question I've been meaning to ask for a while since we found out about Happily Ever After. I'm over 6' tall but my wife is 4'11". We haven't had trouble in the past finding a nice spot for her to enjoy Wishes since Wishes didn't really require you to be able to see all of the castle to get the most out of it. With the incredible projections that Happily Ever After has I'm a bit concerned it will be difficult for us to find a good spot for her to see a lot of the castle. With the general crowds, parents putting their children on their shoulders and people holding up their phones to record/take pictures it makes it very difficult for her to actually get a good view of the castle. I'm sure all of you with kids have had these issues too!

Would going to a dessert party be our best option to make sure she can get a good view? Which dessert party spot would be best to make sure we can get a nice view for her?

anywhere you can find a spot. doesnt matter where oyu pick, someone taller than you, will put their kids on their shoulders or has a giant ipad will block your view... If anything, aim for just behind a flower bed as the hub is like an amphitheater and slopes down.

Do these problems also exist at the dessert party locations though?

My mother and I were looking into the dessert party as well. However, I'm not convinced you'll be able to actually see the projections from that distance (Garden View). Thus, we're hesitant to fork out the money.

And we certainly lack to see the value in the Tommorrow Land Terrace seating options now.

I'll have to look into that one. How does the garden view party work? You have desserts in the terrace and then you go to a different spot for the show?

you get the upper portion of the terrace with it's air conditioning, when your ready to move to the hub they escort you over and you can wait until the last minute.. I did it the other night to enjoy wishes with my daughter and we could lay down and see the show..

I didn't take any pictures of how empty but this shot is good to show what the view is like and you can still make out where the lower towers which aren't important to happily but they do get some projections so they match the look of the castle.

The terrace view was never really designed for more than fireworks so it's a narrow view of the castle.

There is a matching area on the other side of the hub which is a hidden gem to get into but right now a lot of experienced disney goers are coming in for the new show so it would be a gamble if you could get yourself into that side.

this was originally made for fastpass viewing.

Wouldn't the view from the train station be an option?

From that picture it certainly looks like the garden view would be the best shot at making sure we get the least obstructed view. I've read in some other threads that people tend to sit down on the grass when viewing from the garden location. Do you think people will still do that for Happily Ever After though? Is there really that much open space around this garden view for people to sit on the grass and still see the projection on the castle?

I'm 5'2" and my DS9 is 4'8'. After some really miserable MK fireworks viewing experiences where I swore never again, I decided, as a special treat, to try the MK dessert party with Plaza Garden viewing this past December and I will never watch the MK fireworks any other way again!! It was such a great experience! As Accident pointed out, for the dessert party portion of the event, you will be seated in the upper area of Tomorrowland Terrace for your dessert buffet. You are then escorted to the Plaza Garden area about 15 minutes prior to show time. I had read on here the tip to go to the back railing of the garden, which is precisely what DS9 and I did. There was absolutely no one in front of us (we could have done cartwheels in the garden!) and the view was spectacular. We also stayed in the area after the show until the crowds cleared out (simply sat down and relaxed on the grass) and avoided the stampede. It was worth every penny and we are doing it again in August to see HEA.

Are there any boat options to see the fireworks? Pirates & Pals? Any other boat options?

My view from the Plaza Garden Viewing dessert party last night. I could have moved to the right more to get that light tower and small tree out of my direct view, but it looks worse in this pic than real life.

Highly recomend this viewing location. We had plenty of room and the view is great. You can't quite see the very bottom of the castle projections, but there's so much other stuff going on that's a non-issue, IMHO.

Hope that helps!

I was listening to the Dole Whipped podcast (really enjoy those ladies and their show, give it a listen!) and they were saying on one episode there is an area in Tomorrowland that is a good spot to view the fireworks? I guess my question is, because we are staying at the Poly in November we have a short trip back to the resort so we don't need to be close to the entrance, are there other areas of the park with less people that still would have a nice viewing area for the show?

either that or..... you will pick a spot then someone taller will squeeze in right in front of you about 10 seconds before the show starts! Or worse.... once you position yourself behind someone that is just a tad shorter than you, their significant other who is a whole foot taller and wearing a huge hat will switch places with them!
I'd also suggest a spot in the garden too.
Or..... and this can be tricky..... try to get a spot right by the rope that crosses Main Street before the show. It's hard to explain, but they have a rope (or at least used to) making a walkway from Casey's across Main Street over to the Ice Cream Shop so that people can cross. Then just as the show begins they sometimes drop the rope sometimes they don't. But if you can be right at the rope you won't have anyone in front of you for the width of the walkway.
Now.... like I said this is what they used to do, not sure they still do. good luck!!

I'm torn between the former FP area or springing for the Plaza dessert party. I'm really not interested in the desserts and it will be expensive for the 5 of us, but I want to have a decent view that's less claustrophobic! We'll be in MK on 6/1.
