Guests behaving badly

In all of our Cruises we have only experienced this twice on Disney. Once a drunk guy flipped off the surveillance cameras outside the lounges on the Dream. An Officer appeared "miraculously" about 30 seconds later. He asked the guy if "he was having a nice evening" and then hovered for a bit. The guy went to his room of his own accord. LOL, the wife took care of him because for the next two days he was on stroller duty and we didn't see in in the clubs.

The next time was when a few Irish guys got really trashed for the first two days of a 7 day cruise and were really obnoxious at dinner at the Royal Table. I am not sure what happened, but we never saw them drunk again, and they were the model of good behavior for the rest of the cruise. A little pixie dust maybe??? LOL

The worst I've seen on DCL was on the EBTA last year. There was a group of English people that were all over the alcohol, to the point they even opened a six pack in the terminal waiting to board the ship and nothing was said about it. One of them was so drunk they tripped down the stairs on the ship and twisted their ankle, and was using a wheelchair and crutches for much of the remainder of the cruise. Overheard him bragging about it by the adult pool, saying that DCL gave him a bunch of stuff (I guess since he got injured)... but also noted that they had cut off his and his friend's access to booze. It was quite disgusting how proud he was of it.

The worst case of drunken behavior I've ever witnessed on any cruise ship was on the Disney Fantasy. We saw two guys who had obviously overindulged screaming and cursing (dropping F bombs right and left) at each other in front of the elevators near the atrium. The screaming escalated to shoving, but by then CM's had arrived and calmed things down. This was in the evening around dinner time and the area was packed with families and small children. I have no idea what happened to the two men as we left the area as soon as we could get away from there, and we never saw them again - thankfully.

Fortunately we've never encountered anything like that on any other cruise we've taken. But it does happen.

I haven't seen anyone drunk on any of our cruises. Worst behavior was several years ago in the movie theater. A large group in a few rows in front of us had a person in every other seat with an empty seats between them. Just as the movie started the rest of their group came in with plates piled high with food from Cabanas. They then loudly were telling others in the group to pass the different plates back and forth. They kept getting up to get plates/drinks from each other. Knocking into those in front of them. A cm was standing nearby and did nothing. Another passenger said something to them and they did get quiet.

I tried to bring in one corn dog into a show because my son fell asleep into dinner and I was asked not to bring food in. Not a big deal.

I do notice that when we take a cruise, the first day you will see some intoxicated guests. After that no more.
If there are some that cause a disturbance, they will politely be denied another drink. If that doesn't help, they will be denied entry to bars. When the warnings do not help, they can be disembarked at the captain's decision.
I once was on a cruise where a single lady kept stealing flowers on the ship and bring to her suite. She also kept smoking in her suite even though she was warned that it is not allowed. After many warnings, (and she didn't stop) she was politely asked to leave the ship. But that was a long time ago.

We were on the sailing as well. Sitting in Keys towards the back we noticed how obnoxious they were. We met a couple who were their table mates and I guess the first couple of nights were grim.

They must had been talked to as we noticed that later in the cruise they were much more subdued. 😀

I felt bad fo their table mates, thats exactly why we asked for our own table.
We figured by night 2, security and the Captain knew exactly who they were.

I agree one corn dog isn't a big deal. But these people had plates piled high, constantly standing up, and talking after the movie had started. Just being rude to all those around them.

On the Fantasy in June, my 2 SILs were at a showing of Captain Marvel (I wussed out and went to bed), and a man ran in just wearing a bathrobe and started shouting random things. He was shushed, etc...but I don't remember if someone came to escort him out or not.

Well that makes sense, I'm sure you can't just kick people off for being jerks. Some cruise lines would run out of guests. I would assume the threshold for removal would be a "danger to yourself or others" or criminal activity such as drugs, theft, etc.

Not long ago a captain kicked a couple off mid-cruise because the guy called a crew member an idiot. They had to make and pay their own way home.

So yeah,a captain can and will kick guests off for being jerks, at the end of the day, that captain was in the minority at actually sticking to the guest conduct policy.

How would they articulate kicking 2 paying adults off due to the conduct of one paying adult? I think in these instances nobody really gets the whole story.
For the record, I'm aware the captain has authority to have anyone removed per his discretion.

In 43 DCL cruises we have seen it all just about. One of our cruises there was a very drunk guy threatening another member of his family. The woman he was threatening was banging on our cabin door with our then 16 year old daughter within, alone. She brought the woman into the cabin as she sounded desperate and called security, all the while the guy was banging on our door looking for her. Security came and took him away. We heard he was drunk practically the whole cruise and this day it just came to a head. We were told he was moved to a different cabin for the duration of the cruise was being constantly watched by staff.

On the Fantasy in 2016 there was a guy walking through La Piazza in just his tighty whities…..just strolling along...it was about midnight and I guess he maybe had one too many?????

And nothing will top the couple that brought their childrens' portable potty along to EVERYTHING. They had it just hanging off the stroller whenever you saw them. Even the dining room. I personally saw them putting the potty seat in the aisle of the WD Theatre during a show, had the kid do his business and then take the potty out to empty. They thankfully were told they could not bring the potty into the dining room (once dining staff were alerted to what they were doing).

The drunkest person I saw was my 16 yo on NYE after she was served multiple glasses of champagne by the staff and fell down in front of officers. Her drunk friends took her to the infirmary where she got a liter of saline in an IV. ($1016 that we had to pay before we disembarked). Next day she didn't have a hang over but her friends did (too bad because she deserved to reap the rewards of her antics) The staff at the Vibe wondered what happened to the kids after the midnight fireworks since they never returned back to the Vibe. I still wonder what would have happened if they went back to the Vibe drunk.

I don't think calling someone an idiot is a reason to be kicked off a cruise. I find that story a little hard to believe.
I heard that the guy dropped the mother of all swear words in front of "idiot. " When they informed the passenger that security would be called if he continued, the passenger told them that they better bring a lot of them because they would "need it." Threat communicated, and captain made the call to eject upon getting the report. His wife wasn't ejected, but she decided to leave the ship with her husband.

During our last cruise we had a tour of the bridge. There is a room right behind the bridge that is for fire control and security. I use to be in the security business a long time ago and I will tell you if security thinks you are a problem, they would have no problems following you around the ship with the camera setup on the ships. Not much can go unnoticed. And that includes a lot of stuff on the verandas that you think no one can see. With these high def digital cameras, they can zoom in on a crack and look through it. Very impressive stuff. But on a funny note, I was told that the camera system for the man overboard, malfunctions all the time sending out false alarms.

 May I ask :
How did DCL allow a 16 yo to have a drink?
Don't get me wrong, I'm kind of OK with a 16yo having a glass of champagne for a NYE's toast, but the cruise allowing that? wow.

Was the fact that they were English a crucial part of your story?
