So what do you guys think that Hawaii will do with the new CDC guidelines for travel for fully vaccinated folks?

Unfortunately, you can still get covid even if you're fully vaccinated. It's not known whether or not you can transmit it but my guess would be you could, albeit possibly less substantially.

Most likely they'll keep the requirement in place until a much higher % of the population is vaccinated.

It’s probably an unpopular opinion but with the new variants it might be best to continue with required testing for a few months at least. It sounds like a stressful process but Hawaii is so remote and it would help protect their own residents and tourists both.

When we were there March 20-26, those who live there do not want them to loosen the requirements yet. They want to wait until mid-summer at least before they drop the testing requirement.

The captain of the boat we did a snorkel/sunset cruise with said he had COVID twice: Once in October and then again in January. He said he is 100% sure he caught it the second time from a group of tourists who chartered all of the companies boats for their employees. He said that the entire excursion they had keep telling the group to wear their masks and the group wouldn't listen Some of them were openly coughing.

The day after the excursion the company received a phone call that the 2 of the people on the boat tested positive. The captain and 2 other employees tested positive between 4 and 8 days later. He said locals are very wary of opening up with relaxed requirements.
