Question for a friend...For a 2 yr old that is considered "free" to get into the parks...is he included on the dining plan or will you be expected to buy his meals?

Thanks!!!

He is free to eat off your plate. But if you want the child to have their own meals you would pay oop.

At buffets he can have his own plate. At other restaurants he can eat off the adult's plate. If you order from the menu, you will have to pay OOP. At CRT they get a plate free of charge.

Buffets and Family style are free, as stated. Child can have their own plate.
We have always had enough food to share with the under 2 child.
The waiters will bring an extra, empty plate at menu sit downs, the child does not literally have to "eat off your plate," it just means that they share your food.
We have been given free drinks for the child at menu places before, but this is NOT a given. You can also order ala carte things for the child, OOP, such as an order of fries or fruit, without having to buy an entire meal.
Always ask your server if you are interested in something like that.

How is it handled at CRT? Are they given their own plate to share off the adult's meal or a whole kid's meal themselves? Does it differ if you are getting breakfast, lunch or dinner?

I think they brought DS a half portion of a kids meal of his choosing. It was free. This was at breakfast.

A meal just for them.

The times we have gone, it has not been a kids meal from the menu, though. At breakfast it was a plate of french toast sticks, at dinner it was a plate of buttered noodles.

We are on the dining plan. Our 5 year old is very picky. The 2 year old will eat lots and will eat anything! We plan on ordering ala carte OOP for one boy and a child's meal on the DP for the 5 year old. Then we will switch meals with the 2 boys when the waiter brings them. Will this be allowed?

I'm sure it's fine but I don't understand what you're doing. You're going to order a child's meal that you will pay OOP for and a child's meal that will be charged to the dining plan. Why would you need to switch the plates between them? Just order whatever they will eat.

No, we will order a side dish for the 5 year old not a meal. He only eats a few things. He would live only on milk if we would let him. If there are no sides that he will eat we'll just order milk and get him something else somewhere else. It is a real battle to get him to eat, but his doctor says he is just fine.

Ah, I see. Thanks because I was confused by your plan!

Right, it doesn't matter who eats what food. Just that you only use the entitlements you are given. (That is...if there are 2 adults and 1 child, your DP will only give you meals for 2 adults and 1 child.)
Your plan sounds fine.
