FOP wait is 300 minutes...park closing in 25 minutes

So how does that work? Aside from the obvious logistics of waiting in line, does the park really stay open for another 5 HOURS tonight to accommodate this crowd of people? How much of a gross exaggeration is that wait time?

I think its an exaggeration. As soon as the park closes, no one can enter the FP+ return line and the standby queue gets the full capacity of the ride. I haven't tried getting in line for FOP at park close before, but I have done it on SDMT and the standby line started moving pretty darn fast as soon as the FP+ line closed. I don't remember exactly what our wait was compared to the posted time, but I know it was much shorter. Like PP said, my bet is the wait would be an hour or so.

300 seems on the high side for normal posted hours even in the final hour.

We just got back today and crowds were stout all around, as is typical this time of year. I’m sure there’s some exaggeration in the current posted wait as is pretty common, but it’s also crowded and 9pm is an early parking closing for this particular week (in my opinion). So probably a bit of both.

the park will close at 9pm. Each attraction and land is cleared by the CMs that work them, so Africa will be cleared, Asia and so forth. , so although 300 minutes might be an exaggeration it is probably at least 2 if not more, the CMs at FoP have to wait until the last guests come out of the ride and escort people out of the park. The rest of the park will be completely clear

Did you make it? Can you enter a line 30/20/10 before closing and not be turned away?
TIA.

OK - so is a good strategy if you can't get a FP for this ride to just hop in line at the end of the night to ride it? How about if you have to do rider swap? We have a 2 year old so the little one can't ride.

Last time we went (2 years ago) the ride was very new and we didn’t stay on site but I was still able to secure one fast pass for it. I just checked for one fast pass regularly. My husband went and showing our little one we got the rider swap so I could ride as well. I would recommend that strategy for you.

Thank you - I unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) have a party of 7 - myself, DH, DD, DS, and my brother and two of my sisters (and nope we are no where near done with the number of siblings that can tag along on the Disney Vacation with us). So at a minimum 5 of us need FP and 1 rider swap - really 6 FP... I'll see what I can do about getting this somehow.

That doesn’t usually work anymore. For headliners like FOP they require that all the riding parties have a fastpass, not just the people in group 1. At least that was my experience with 7dmt. YMMV but i wouldn’t bank on this strategy working anymore.

As mentioned in my post above, don’t bank on this working. It’ll depend on the CM at the ride.

We tried it two nights ago at closing the line was outrageous. Also Pandora after dark is a nightmare- no lighting at all. We were crashing into people. I will never go back to tat park again. It wasn’t my favorite to begin with- but I hated the whole land after dark.

yup - I'm not banking on anything. If we got 5 and not 6 and then can't do rider swap we'd just have the last person hop in line at the end of the night with a buddy. Thanks for the reminder though, I always go with what the CM says while there - so if we have an idea and it doesn't work no big deal. I'm sure I will be back at a later date to enjoy FOP :)
