First time to California

DH and I will be flying into Las Vegas on Saturday March 17, spending the night and then driving to Disney Land. Any ideas for along the way? Must See's? and does anyone know approx how long it will take to drive.

We've only done this once, but my dad goes back and forth between the two several times a year. It seems to me it was a little more than 4 hours, but we added another 45 minutes stopping for dinner. Since you'll be going from LV to LA on a Sunday, my biggest hint is to get on the road early in the day. Friday nights LA to LV and Sunday nights LV to LA are crazy busy. As for must see's, I just remember the world's tallest thermometer in Baker. It's in the middle of nowhere, and it's very tall, and then you can say you've seen it.

Bun Boy restaurant is in Baker, and serves decent food.

Nothing really to see from Vegas to LA. First there is Primm and Stateline, where there are a few casinos where you can stop and cool off/eat etc. Buffalo Bills has a cool rollercoaster. There is Baker, which is in a valley in the desert. World's tallest thermometer which I have seen reach 132. You could make a detour to Death Valley....but I wouldn't recommend it. Barstow is about half way.....has an outlet mall, other than that not much till you get to Rancho Cucamonga and RTE 66. This drive can take several hours if you are leaving on a Sunday. I suggest leaving early in the morning to limit the amount of traffic.

Well, dearie. It'd be quite obvious that you'll be needin' to find a place to celebrate with a wee bit '0 green beer or perhaps a nice Stout Guinness! We'll have'ta be searchin' out a parade or two fer ya!

The last few times I've gone to so. cal, I've flown into Las Vegas and driven in.
We like to stay at the border, in Jean or Primm, NV. They have a group of hotels there, Whiskey Pete's, Buffalo Bills, and Primm Valley Resort and Casino. It's only about an hour out of Vegas, but it tends to be so much cheaper. And, one hour of the drive is under your belts the next morning. For us, with about a 45 minute stop for lunch and one bathroom break, it took us about 4.5 hours from Primm to our hotel on Harbor. A word of caution, though, going IN to LA on Sunday and going OUT of LA on Friday are both pure hell. Avoid it at all costs, if you can. It will honestly add about 2 hours (or more) to your trip.
As far as things to see, others may be able to help you here, but there isn't anything I can think of other than the outlet malls along the way.
