Cast:Eric, 25, fan of disney world / Kristy, 24, disney world fanatic
Purpose of trip: celebrate our first anniversary in style... really just another excuse to go again this year!
Dates: Friday 11/23 - Friday 12/1
Resort: All Star Sports - Baseball section
We flew to Orlando on Southwest Airlines out of the Manchester, NH airport. The flight was uneventful (thank god!) and we arrived in Orlando early and made our way to the Mears counter. Now, we have used Mears each time we traveled to WDW but I was not at all pleased with them this time. The girl at the counter was pretty rude and then we had to wait for the bus to take us to our hotel for over a half hour. I have never had to do this before, always just got on the van that was there and once it was full, we were off. Apparently they don't do that anymore for whatever reason so I wasn't happy about having to waste all that time! (I was anxious, okay?!?!)
During our trip we ate at several restaurants. Here are our reviews...
Tonys Town Square (MK) - Loved it.. as usual. We got a seat outside on the porch and were able to watch the Electrical Parade while we ate.
Cinderellas Royal Table (MK) - We had dinner here and loved it. The themeing is great and the food was even better. It was like 75 for the both of us, and I think that was a lot but would do it again. Make sense?
San Angel Inn (Epcot) - had eaten here before and loved it... wasn't as thrilled this time. Our server was nice but the food wasn't great. My husband, on the other hand, really enjoyed his shrimp and pasta dish.
Liberty Tree Tavern (MK) - the food was good, the server was borderline awful, supposed to be all you can eat but the waiter tried to dodge our attempts to flag him down for more, the poor kids in our section had to wait over an hour for a hug from Minnie (and many parents were VERY angry!). And I ventured up to the bathroom and found the dirtiest smelliest bathroom in all the World. I made sure to write all of this on the comment card, and hopefully they took care of the bathroom, at the very least.
Whispering Canyon Cafe (WL) - this was our hotspot last year because we stayed at the WL for our honeymoon. Still loved it, waiter was great and even got to meet the chef. The place was hopping and was a lot of fun!
Rain Forest Cafe (DD) - We are members of the RFC club so we had a coupon for a free entree to celebrate our anniversary. We both had huge steaks and loved every bit of our dinner! The hostess was very nice as was our server... a great experience. We frequent the RFC near our home but this place was huge in comparison. Food was great!
We weren't on the food plan this year so we ate at quite a few counter service places too. The End Zone food court at the Sports was great... especially enjoyed the chicken fingers, cheeseburgers, and french toast.
All in all we had a wonderful trip... but we both noticed a lack of the usual Disney magic. The bus drivers barely spoke, the cast members were cordial but not their usual friendly selves.. It just felt different. I'm not sure if they aren't getting the right people or if they are working them all too hard.. or what. But I was a little disapointed. We also think it might be because we had gone 4 years in a row. So we are probably going to take a break for awhile. Sad, but true. I just wasn't taken aback like usual... anyone else had this feeling?
That's it.. tried to make it short. If anyone has questions, I'll be more than happy to answer them.
