Out of all the albums released this year, which would you say were your favourite?
1: Lee Ann Womack - Call Me Crazy
It was an amazing album. I loved it from start to finish. Either Way, Last Call, The Bees, and I Think I Know are some of my favourites. I never noticed how beautiful of a voice Lee Ann had until hearing most of this album. She's one of my favourite female vocalists now, and I hope that she keeps up the great work.
2: Taylor Swift - Fearless
Taylor's songwriting style has come a long way since her 2006 debut. With zero mention of "calling daddy" and calling her ex-boyfriend gay, this shines above the other album. Taylor's voice still needs some work, she's not quite to Martina/Carrie/Reba status yet. I can't even put her into the same category as Allison Krauss, it would seem like an insult. Lots of songs on here were amazing for someone so young, my favourites are: Forever & Always, Fifteen, White Horse, Love Story, Hey Stephen, and You're Not Sorry.
3: Sugarland - Love on the Inside
Jennifer Nettles's voice is like chocolate to me, it can do no wrong. She has a way of singing songs that no matter what she's singing about, I'm listening. This album was a lot better than the previous two in my opinion, and it only gets better with time. I bought the Deluxe Fan Edition, and I wasn't disappointed. My favourite songs were Take Me As I Am, Keep You, Love, and Already Gone.
4: George Strait - Troubadour
They don't call George Strait the King for nothing. Possibly one of the best albums I've heard from a legend of country in some time. I loved the entire thing. Sing me song, troubadour George.
5: David Archuleta - David Archuleta
After losing American Idol, which I still don't see how, David recorded a great debut album. It had everything it needed for a good pop album, decent lyrics, a good sound, and a good voice. David has a nice voice that I hope to hear for many more years. My favourites were Crush, A Little Too Not Over You, You Can, and Barriers.
6: Lady Antebellum - Lady Antebellum
This band has everything it needs. Charles and Hillary sound great, alone and together. They are good song writers, they have a good sound, and the momentum they need to keep going. I think that Lady A could be the next big vocal group in country, which would be a nice change from the Flatts.
7: Jason Mraz - We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things
Jason, when his voice is utilised correctly, has a phenomonal singing voice. He has suffered from lack of airplay. That changed this year when he released I'm Yours. This song has peaked in the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100, number two on the Adult Contemporary chart, and number one on the Adult Top 40 chart. Most of his album is stuff that you would never hear in country. My favourites are the Dynamo of Volition, Lucky, A Beautiful Mess, and I'm Yours.
8: Pink - Funhouse
Pink has had the problem of being pushed to one side when it comes to American airplay. She had several hit singles in Austrailia, but America found Pink again when she released U + Ur Hand last year from her album I'm Not Dead. The momentum from her success from that song led her to her first single to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100, So What. Pink has a great set of pipes on her, and she can really belt a note when needed. My favourites were Crystal Ball and So What.
