Exploring Atlantis in Nassau?

Hi all,

We took the Ardastra Gardens tour a couple years ago but wanted to do something different this time.

Disney has an excursion to Atlantis. We just want to wander the aquarium and hotel.
Does the aquarium area or hotel wandering cost $ so that's part of Disney's price or is the price just for transportation? Has anyone just taken a cab there? If so, how much is it? Would you recommend just taking a cab? How much is the aquarium if it costs $?

Atlantis' grounds and attractions are for Atlantis' guests, and people who have bought a tour or day pass. There are security guards that check for these things at the aquarium and grounds access points. The Marina Village shopping area and the casino are free and open to the public, but there isn't any view of the sea-life exhibits from these areas.

There's a guided tour of the main aquarium (the Dig) that is $45 for adults and $30 for kids. You might be allowed to roam a little bit on your own after the tour, but this tour does not include use of pools, rides, or beaches.

Has anyone just taken a cab there? If so, how much is it? Would you recommend just taking a cab?

A taxi is $5 per person in a shared van or $13 + add-ons for a dedicated vehicle.

Depending on how many people you have to pay for, it can be cheaper to pay for a room at Atlantis or comfort suites which gives you access to everything at Atlantis for the day.

How do you get from the ship to Atlantis? Does Disney provide transportation? Is it necessary that I purchase Atlantis tickets through the DCL website?
