Evil Clowns? Mickey Mouse? Divas? And turning 40!? Be afraid, be very afraid!

I'm Here! As I will be There!
Can't wait to celebrate your big birthday with you Beth.

Oh, Theresa, may I please have a fruity rum drink? Thanks ;)
This is gonna be one fun trip.

I agree, it's gonna be one fun trip (well, except for the scary parts, I'm not going to lie!) As requested, one fruity rum drink - enjoy!

Even though Knott's Scary Farm is not my cup of tea, I'm looking forward to doing it. Especially with a group of people. I'll fit nicely in the middle so no zombies or clowns can get me :thumbsup2.

Oh hey, thanks for your discretion in keeping my wussy status between us :thumbsup2 I didn't tell you what my plans for your sleeping arrangements for that first night are yet, did I??? Hmmm............... :scratchin
I'll be sleeping in the bathroom, in the tub, with the door locked and one eye open. I don't trust you. :rolleyes1

I'm so excited to see you again! And I have your stuffed Minnie from forever ago!! LOL Finally you will get her back.

Oh, this could get interesting. Theresa already claimed the middle. Looks like you two will have to fight it out. :rolleyes1 popcorn::

I forgot to mention something in my previous post regarding our plans for the first night. Those of us going to Knott's Scary Farm will all be wearing matching t-shirts!

Theresa found some shirts that say "Bite Me" on them, which just seemed appropriate in more ways than one. :rotfl:

(We'll be wearing the black ones)

I called dibs, but I may be able to share (we can always push Beth in front of anything that does make it close to us - but shhhh, don't tell her that!!)

That's probably a very good idea - I wouldn't trust me either.

I'm a lover, not a fighter :upsidedow We'll share the middle (because I'm nice like that).

Actually, that's a fabulous idea......get ready Beth :thumbsup2.

Oh and speaking of shirts, does anyone have that link on how to make the shirt a scoop neck??? I was going to try and alter mine tonight but I can't find the link (the one with the step by step pictures.....I need pictures)!!

I'm ready!! Bring on the evil clowns!!
Remember:

;)

I cut the neckline of my tee because as a crew neck it was way too tight. I felt like I was being choked. I didn't do the best job ever, but given the nature of the shirt and where we are wearing it, I think it will be fine if the edges are a bit jagged on mine. Makes it look rough and tumble.

Here is the link I used:

Love the update!!
Thanks! :goodvibes I'll post our day two plans tomorrow.

Sorry to all of you (any of you??) out there following along. I had a busy weekend that included a flat tire, lots of cleaning/baking, a homecoming game and dance, and some teen girls invading the house for a sleepover. It was fun, but busy!

Anyone out there like food porn??? Besides me that is. :cool1:

Here are some of the goodies I put out for my oldest daughter and her friends on Saturday to snack on while getting ready for the homecoming dance.

Spinach dip with sourdough bread chunks for dipping.
DSCN2404.jpg

Banana cake and pumpkin bars, both with cream cheese frosting.
DSCN2408.jpg

Golden buttermilk cornbread.
DSCN2407.jpg

Jalapeno popper spread (tastes just like a jalapeno popper!) We added more chips to replace the ones already stolen. lol
DSCN2405.jpg

Plus we had lots of drinks, and ordered two large pizzas. Gotta have energy to dance!
Anyway, everyone had a great weekend, but I was ready for school today so I could get some peace. OKay, enough of that, back to the trip plans!!

I was working in the lab late one night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight
For my monster from his slab began to rise
And suddenly to my surprise
He did the mash
He did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash ...

Friday, October 21, 2011:
I would like to imagine that plans for day two start off with the words "sleep in", especially after spending the night before running from monsters and chainsaw wielding serial killers. I don't think that's going to be the case though. Heck, we are on vacation, there's no time to sleep in!

I am pretty sure they will start with the word "breakfast" though, which in my book is just as good. :thumbsup2 More specifically breakfast at White Water Snacks. I've never tried their breakfast but I've heard it's a good place to grab something tasty and fast.

Also this day, the rest of our group will be arriving. Cheryl, Linda, Chris and several others. Once Cheryl arrives, I'll be packing up and moving out of Theresa and Jane's room, and into Cheryl's where I will be spending the rest of my trip. She's also staying at the GCH, (I think in a villa, but I'm not sure), and she's invited me to stay with her the entire time as my birthday present!! :yay: Thanks Cheryl!!

After breakfast, we'll probably split up. Some of us will be wanting park time. I don't have an annual pass, so my plan is to relax, hang out in DTD and do some shopping.

For lunch, we have plans to meet up in Tangaroa Terrace with Cathy/goofycathy who will be there that week with her family. I've never eaten there either, so I am looking forward to trying their food and to meeting another DISer! :yay:

Depending on what time we are finished with lunch, which could take awhile with this chatty group, lol, we will probably decide to head back to the hotel to get ready for the Halloween party that night.

I am so excited for this! I've been to the party back when it was held in California Adventure. It was cute, and my family enjoyed it. I am looking forward to seeing it in Disneyland. I've heard the little parade and fireworks are not to be missed! And my kids have instructed me to get "as much candy as possible" to bring back home to them. :rotfl: So I definitely plan to close down the park that night to make sure I see and do as much as I can.

Our group is going with a western theme for our costumes. We'll have some cowgirls, saloon girls, and even some Indians in our midst. Should be fun to see everyone all dressed up. Everyone better bring their smiles, because I plan to take lots of photos this night.

We'll probably start the evening off with a few rides, then we have reservations for an early dinner at Cafe Orleans. (Yum....pomme frites!!) At some point during the evening, I am sure they will try to take me on Haunted Mansion to show me the elusive "monkey bride". Uh huh. Sure. It does exist. Yep, I totally believe them. :rolleyes1

It's going to be a relaxed day hanging with friends, and an evening topped off with costumes, candy, fireworks, and fun.

Up next.....Park Time!!

You know this is my kind of trip and I wish I could join the fun. looking forward to your report. I'll just pretend I'm right there with everyone !

I'm seriously counting down the days until that weekend....I really need to just get away from reality for a couple days.

I actually had a dream last night that I just got on a plane and went to WDW. Just left everything behind :cloud9:. If only it was that simple....

BTW~ The pre-homecoming snacks look delicious!!! I love spinach dip and those pumpkin bars are calling my name :goodvibes.

Hi Trudi! I know it is. I wish you were going to be there!! It would be so fun to go on Haunted Mansion and to the Halloween party with you. Sure you can't sneak away for the weekend??

Here is the recipe for the Jalapeno Popper Spread:

Ingredients:

2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup mayonnaise
1 (4 ounce) can chopped green chilies, drained
2 ounces canned diced jalapeno peppers, drained
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions:
Stir together cream cheese and mayonnaise in a large bowl until smooth. Stir in green chiles and jalapeno peppers. Pour mixture into a microwave safe serving dish, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
Microwave on High until hot, about 3 minutes.
Baked Variation:
If you would like to brown the cheese, bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for about 30 minutes.

I made the baked version. It was sooooo good. Addicting really. If you want to go hotter, you can add more jalapenos. I didn't because while I like spicy things, I wasn't sure if the girls would. You can also add bread crumbs and butter to the top before baking if you want. And then just serve with tortilla chips, crackers, pita chips, sourdough baguettes, or just about anything.
Hope you like it!

Reality sucks sometimes! It would be awesome to just hop a plane and get outta town whenever we need to. ::yes::

I am so ready to go now. 3 weeks is a long time. Too many things can go wrong between now and then! Someone gets sick, the minivan breaks down again, etc. Let's just go now, hurry! :rotfl2:

Thanks for the comment on the snacks. They were devoured pretty quickly. After the dance, the girls came home looking so tired. Happy, but tired. Once they changed out of their dresses and shoes though, they got their second wind and stayed up until 2:30 a.m. eating and talking, so there wasn't much food left by Sunday morning. :rotfl:

Now that Fall is officially here, I'm always in a baking mood. (I use the term Fall loosely since our weather here in Vegas is still in 90's) The banana cake was surprisingly good. It's an odd recipe. You bake it at a very low temp, 275 degrees, for an hour. Then immediately take it out and put it in the freezer for 45 minutes.
I was like, WTH?? But I did it, and it was so moist and good.
Good thing I have lots of neighbors, Ruben's coworkers and the kid's friends to pass along all the goodies to! Otherwise, I'd be needing fatter, fat jeans. :rolleyes1

I'm here!

I'm so excited for you gals! Of course I wish I was coming too, but I'll just have to be patient for February. :thumbsup2

Good thing I'm not going, because Theresa and Katie would have one more person elbowing for the middle spot at Knott's!!! :scared1: I don't handle "real" gore all that well, and I despise being scared.

Don't forget to take lots of pictures for me, especially of the Halloween party at Disneyland, I'm dying(no pun intended) to see what it looks like there!

Well it seems I am almost a day late and a dollar short. I didn't realize that you had started this. I am here now!!
