Anyone else have a different looking tip board this am? Normally I can see the G+ availability for all rides in a park, but right now they all say check availability and to do so you have to confirm party first?

Granted, I’m at home, just information gathering before our trip in 11 days.

It should be fine now. Between 7h00 and 7h30ish it doesn't give you the time anymore unless you choose an attraction.

It really is a confusing mess, isn't it? Genie, Genie+, Lightning Lanes, Individual Lightning Lanes. It just adds to the frustration sometimes.
So true, been reading this informative thread as ”homework” since we haven’t been at WDW since 2019… and I’d definitely only get a “C” at best at the moment, lol. I don’t have all the abbreviations for the new rides down either….

Thanks to the mod :worship:and the first pages I got the basics now, but the strategy is still a bit of a mystery. For example with fast pass you just booked the earliest time available and then could add one by one…. but now I see people using a strategy of booking for late in the day on purpose and I just don’t quite get it yet! :confused3

We are sooo excited about this trip… but with neither park nor ride reservations (hope I understood that correctly for the 4-park ticket) I’m super anxious for the time being.
Anyone with words of encouragement or wisdom? Meanwhile I will keep reading this thread…

It does appear (and honestly before trying) is overwhelming but once you're there, it falls into place pretty quickly. Most people who book for late in the day (aka 'stacking') are doing so as they don't plan to be in the park in the morning or, are booking for a park they're hopping to.

I would recommend watching the youtube linked in the first posts to 'EarScouts'. He's excellent at showing things well!

We flew down on monday. From home, at 7am, I booked a ride, then at the airport, I booked another ride at 11am, then, after landing, I booked another ride, booked another ride two hours later, then....just as we were about to walk into the park, we booked a ride and walked straight to that one.

We went ride to ride to ride to ride to ride. Entering the park later in the day is a great way to stack rides every two hours. Just make sure on that last two hour ride booking, you set the time right about when you walk into the park. You SHOULD then be able to tap into that ride and begin to tap in, book a ride, tap in, book a ride without waiting the two hours. And then you have all those other rides waiting from earlier bookings.

That SHOULD happen but sometimes it did not. Twice, we booked a ride, walked straight to it, but.....that two hour you can book now showed up on the app, and said we could book at 1:05pm. We had a ride already booked 1:15 - 2:15. So we booked at ride at 1:05pm, allowed from the 2 hour rule, then tapped into our ride at 1:15pm. We thought we could then book again right away, (cast members said that should have worked)....but.....after tapping in, the LAST THING WE DID, it did not allow us to book again, for two hours.

This scenario happened twice, but another time, it did work and we could tap and book. Cast members think there is a minute rule between booking under the two different rules.
Questions to help me understand; so when you booked your first ride at 7 am, was that for a time you knew you would not be there, or for a time later in the day you knew you would be there? And how could you book 5 LL before you arrived at the park? I thought you could only book one LL at a time? Did you let the earlier ones expire or did you modify every single time to late in the day? I’m sorry this is still confusing to me!

Oh thank you! So for us, since we will *not* hop, and plan to be there early and perhaps take midday breaks, this strategy is not going to work. Ok, I haven’t watched the videos yet!

I think the videos will be helpful as you can have more than one LL booked at the same time. You are eligible to book an LL every 2 hours. If you decide to take a break, you can continue to book and LL every 2 hours even when you're away from the park.

E.g. - The first day we used G+ I booked our first LL from the tarmac in Buffalo, waiting to take off. I booked the second one at 10:30 when we landed as MK had opened at 8:30. I booked another at 12:30 even though we were at our resort.

Using this strategy I had 3 LL already booked even before we entered the park! I will say, our times overlapped (e.g. Jungle Cruse 2:30 - 3:30; Big Thunder Mountain 3:00 - 4:00. The site warned me but I knew I could get between those rides during their return windows so chose to book overlapping times.)

To do the above, I needed to wait until the return time was after when I planned to arrive in the park. The other option now (that wasn't an option when we went) is to book the attraction you want to go to in the park you have a reservation for, as soon as you can and then attempt to modify it to a later time that you plan to be in the park.

It does seem overwhelming but watching the videos will hopefully help.

Got an update for My Disney Experience

Among the updates it says that"
With this release, Tip Board can tell you if you are eligible to:
Move between Walt Disney World Resort theme parks on the same day.
Choose a Lightning Lane arrival window for select attractions.
Make individual Lightning Lane purchases.
We introduced car locator to help save your parking information.
We also fixed bugs and improved overall app performance."

What are they referring to with this: Choose a Lightning Lane arrival window for select attractions?

Car locator has been around for a while and wasn't just released.

My interpretation of this is, it will quickly tell you if you are currently eligible to book another LL reservation or if not, when you can.

Not really sure how that differs from what it currently does but possibly all info is in one spot now?

Purely a guess on my party.

I would love to think they're allowing you to choose a window but that would be a major (HUGE) improvement and that has not been announced anywhere that I have seen.

Not announced specifically, but Iger did say they’d look at ways to improve it based on guest feedback 🤔😳

However, I’d tend to lean to what you said as well. If someone notices something new tho, please let us know and post screenshots if possible!

The notes from the MDE Apple update (6/6/23) re: New enhancements to the Tip Board say "The Tip board can tell you if you are eligible to: Move between WDW theme parks on the same day; Choose a Lightning Lane arrival window for select attractions; make individual Lightning Lane purchases." Is "choosing a LL arrival window" a new feature or is it just language for what LL has always been? I may just be reading this note with wishful thinking. Thanks!

Currently, G+/LL selections are like the old paper fast passes - you get the next time slot that's available. The ILL selections are like to old fast pass plus system, where you can select from available time ranges throughout the day. The only thing we really found the tip board helpful with regarding LL selections was it will tell you what time you can make your next selection. I think you were reading too much into it!! I would hope for the same thing!

This was discussed in the Genie+ thread yesterday. It’s most likely rewording how things have always worked.

There’s always a possibility it could mean a return to the fast pass + days where you select your time instead, but until it’s announced or others start posting new experiences, I’d say it’s more likely the rewording

Great! That is very helpful. I will be in the parks next week and will report back if I see any changes from my last trip in March.

Hello! We have old complimentary tickets that we are planning to use next month. [It's a long story, but we had 4-day tickets during one of the 2016/2017 hurricanes and they could not lower and refund the 2 days that WDW was closed, so they put a note in our file that we have complimentary 2-day tickets.] The tickets are not yet in our account because we have to pick them up in person with ID, but when I called Disney IT, they put something in our account that allowed me to make Park Reservations for those 2 days. We all have the same park reservation (i.e., we do NOT have a mixed ticket group - I know that was an issue in the past). I am planning to pick up the tickets the evening before (planning on going to GR outside MK gates).

My question is: I assume I will be able to make G+ LL, LL+ and VQs, since I have a park reservation? Has anyone used really old, complimentary park tickets and can share their experience? TIA!

I just came to this thread with the same question. We are using 1 day of our 3-day complimentary tickets and hoping we don't have an issue adding Genie+.

We also will be using the 2-days left on our 9-day tickets from last September. The 2-days remain because Disney closed for two days for Hurricane Ian last year. These tickets have Genie+ already added.
