We have been coming to WDW since 1989 and have been DVC members since 1993 (Old Key West - sold 2000) 1999 Boardwalk Villas and the changes at the Boardwalk Resort and WDW have greatly diminished our feeling of being Welcomed Home.
Being a DVC member seems to mean nothing in the Theme Parks and if you have special needs there is no follow through in updating one’s member profile. At the Boardwalk they seem to keep an update but the actual follow through is getting worse.
To us we believe that being DVC members we have a vested interest in DVC properties and WDW yet we feel that our membership means nothing to WDW.
DVC Boardwalk cast members and managers are very nice and act concerned but there is no consistency.
This year we where aware through News articles, not Disney nor DVC, that every day someone would enter our rooms but during online Check In there was no info or way to request a schedule for these visits so that we could enjoy our DVC Vacation Homes. My daughter has neurological issues and benefits from being in a Safe Place. Having someone bang on our door at 9am to come in is not appropriate since we had spoken to a DVC Boardwalk Manager about getting a call to setup a time when we would not be in our room. Today I got a call at 10am and scheduled a time at 6pm. However at Noon someone was banging on our door and this upset my daughter and was not what I spoke to the person from housekeeping about at 10am.
I believe that WDW and the DVC should value our membership and respect our privacy. I they need to check our rooms each day then there should be two option;
1. At time of Check In a DVC Manager visit each new guest to determine that their privacy and use of their Vacation Home is appropriate for the length of stay and Full Trash and Linens with Trash and Tidies (I think it is every 3 to 4 nights,
2. At time of Check In a designated time for a Daily Check is done at a Specific Time and this should be done respectfully,
3. Don’t Bang on our Doors and respect Do Not Disturb signs with a Call to the room.
The single most important thing that is being violated DVC members feeling safe and at home in The their vacation homes. If we wanted to stay at Holiday Inn or Marriott Hotel/Motels we wouldn’t of purchased DVC memberships.
