Drive or Uber from Burbank to Universal?

We are booked at a hotel near the Burbank Airport for part of our upcoming trip due to a planned Disney Studio Tour and a day at Universal.

The hotel is about 7-8 miles away from Universal Hollywood. What are our options for parking/transportation? Should we leave the rental car at the hotel and Uber/Lyft to Universal? Is it worth driving and paying for parking? Should we park at the park & ride and take the Metrolink in to save a few dollars??

What transportation options make sense given our close, but not walkable hotel choice?

I would Uber/Lyft from there to Universal. driving is an option but it’s a bit of a walk from the parking station to the front gates, a rideshare will drop you off close to the park gates. Public transport just takes too long.

Uber/Lyft will likely be easiest, especially if you are averse to driving. There’s a couple areas they could drop you off, one near the gate, and another closer to the middle of CityWalk.

If you don’t mind driving, then driving and parking is also easy. It’s a pretty straightforward drive through Burbank. If you do drive, it’s not worth doing Front Gate parking ($70) and in my option also not worth doing Priority Parking. General Parking is fine, unless you are aggressively trying to minimize steps.

Public transport should be a last resort only if you are trying to minimize cost. It’s a waste to take a long and convoluted route for such a short distance.
