Updates: Part 2 1/14/16
Part 4 1/20/16

Hi folks! I am going to make a token attempt to write and complete my very first Trip Report! I have lurked and read a ton of everyone else's over the past year and would like to join in on the fun. It can also be a great way to come back and remember details that aren't so fresh anymore. Being a hobbied photographer, I will include lots of pictures of our trip!

A little background information about myself and my girlfriend. Nicole and I have been dating for 3 years. We live separately in New Jersey with our families. She is 23 and an aspiring Preschool teacher, set to graduate college in May 2016. I am a 24 year old working in law enforcement and a volunteer firefighter, set to enroll in another police academy in a few weeks here.

OK so here goes nothing! I have been to "the world" 3 times. 2 being a child (2000, 2004) and not remembering a ton. 1 of these was in 2014 with my DGF, Nicole. As soon as we got back from that trip, I was hooked completely, including The Dis and the Disboards followed a year later. I am the big planner of the two, DGF loves all things Disney but she isn't into the planning or technicalities like I am. I am fascinated with all of the behind the scenes, "why did they put that there", details. She is happy as long as I am happy, so she says. :love2:

I started planning this trip out a year in advance. I got hurt in the police academy in January, 2015 and had to take a side security job until I could re-enter in January 2016. This allowed for uber-planning and research, especially those dreaded midnight shifts :surfweb: :wizard:. We chose the Disney Dream, 4 night itinerary sailing from Port Canaveral, FL to Nassau, Bahamas, Castaway Cay, and an at sea day. I planned an early flight for the day before our cruise to assure we would not repeat what happened last trip. Flight delays galore. Ruined two ADR' for us! Nope, nu-uh not happening again. I discovered DVC point renting on the boards here and decided to surprise my DGF with a 1 night stay at the Beach Club Villas. I loved the idea of resort hopping just after Christmastime, Stormalong Bay, a nice dinner on the Boardwalk, watching Illuminations from the sand, and drinks at JellyRolls before bed.

You'll find out later on in my TR that much of my "perfect plan" got shuffled/jumbled/mixed around/squashed and I got quite upset.

Being from New Jersey, it was quite cold when we departed. My planning booked us a very early flight from Newark Airport here in NJ to Orlando at 6:00AM. This meant a 3:30AM wakeup at her house so her parents could drive us to the airport. We got to the airport and I was frantically checking my watch as we sat in traffic on the approach.

Thankfully we had pre-checked in online the night before and printed our boarding passes. The only downside was having to check our luggage. This took foreverrrrr. It had us practically jogging to get to the TSA. I watched nervously as the time went by and we were still at a standstill. Where were all of these people going? I was expecting everyone to have already come home from their holiday plans, as this was the Sunday (1/3/16) after New Years.

Thank God a lady took all of the people with flights that were boarding soon and let us cut the line. When we got to the terminal, we grabbed breakfast superfast as our plane had not even begun boarding yet. We met a friendly young couple in line who were clearly flying to Disney too, they were going to stay at All Star Sports. We boarded our flight, DGF passed out asleep, and we made our way down to my favorite state of Florida!! :cool2:

We landed at Orlando airport, I decided to skip the Magical Express bag check because I wanted our luggage with us for this one day trip. As soon as we got our bags, I got that awesome text from the Beach Club that our room was ready already! (9:00am!)

We boarded our bus and traveled over to the mouse! i couldn't wait to walk into that wonderful lobby, greeted by the smell of chocolate!
(I apologize for the watermarks on the pictures. I am dragging them on Chrome from my photography website). I hope at least a few of you stay tuned for my first TR. popcorn::

PART 2
I touched earlier on how I try and plan a lot of our trips out ahead of time. Being a huge Disney fanatic and a devoted Disunplugged podcast listener, there's a ton I want to do and I get impatient having to wait until we can afford long regular trips. So with this said, watching the weather forecast 14 days prior and seeing the forecast predict rain for my day at WDW and our cruise, I got frustrated.

After a quick stop to drop folks off at the Yacht Club, we had finally arrived at The Beach Club!! We hopped off the bus, claimed our luggage, and were greeted immediately by a wonderful cast member named Olivia. She had a tablet in hand and escorted us to the front desk to confirm our room was ready. I couldn't believe how much the resort actually smelled like chocolate. It was awesome, plus the Christmas decorations. She explained to us how to get to the Beach Club Villas and we were off to go check out our room. I had planned ahead of time in case the room wasn't ready to simply leave the luggage with the bell services.

It was a little tricky trying to find our studio villa. Of course, half of the problem was me being distracted by every detail of the resort. DGF rolls her eyes and tries to keep me focused! :rolleyes2:confused3 This is why we compliment each other so well. We found our room on the 5th floor. We lightly unpacked our clothes for dinner and I practically dragged her out of the room so we could get started exploring "The World" at Christmas time!

We hopped on a bus bound for The Magic Kingdom! We love riding Disney transportation and watching all of the families having a blast and the excitement on the children's faces. DGF is an early childhood ed major, soon to be 1st grade teacher, and kids magnet to her, ALWAYS. Once we arrived, and me being a cop taking pictures of the Sheriff's Office and Disney K9 vehicles, we walked towards the front gates. We totally could have just said screw the plans, let's go into the most magical place on earth and splurged for tickets. Boy did I want to. We resisted, took some pictures, took it all in, and went up to grab the monorail.

I just wanted to touch the castle! I also recite the monorail safety message every stop, just like I know many of you dis-sers do too! "Please stand clear of the doors..."

First stop of the day... Disney's Contemporary Resort! I'll do my best to be brief with the Christmas decorations in each resort. I want to talk about the Cruise on my thread here before next Christmas. :ssst:

A very awesome Frozen themed gingerbread display at the Contemporary. We had eaten at Chef Mickey's Character Breakfast 2 years ago so we didn't need to look around much. Next stop was Disney's Polynesian Resort! This was a resort I hadn't been to in many years. As a kid, I believe my parents took us to a character breakfast here. I remember seeing pictures of us.

Edit: Here ya go folks. I had to go track it down. 9 year old me and my little sis in 2000.

IMG_0110-S.jpg

I was very excited to check out the new DVC Bungalows at the Polynesian. A guy can dream, right? We were pretty hungry at this point, hadn't had anything since that meal at the airport. We decided on Captain Cooks quick service for a bite. I had read a few TR's where people spent a lot of time at the Poly restaurants and wanted to give it a try. After we figured out how to order, I got the Chicken & Waffles (Crispy Buffalo Chicken Fritters on a Waffle topped with Romaine and Ranch Dressing) and DGF ordered a Pepperoni flatbread.

IMG_8541-S.jpg

My meal was great! I don't actually eat buffalo too often and boy was this SPICY. She enjoyed her meal as well. We walked alllll the way back upstairs to the monorail only to be stopped by a cast member because the monorail went down. (She told us specifically what the problem was but I forgot). She offered us to wait 2 hours for it or we could grab the boat. Yeah right lady... we'll take the boat, even if it's raining and windy! We walked alllll the way back out to the boat dock and just caught the boat to MK and GF.

PART 3
The GF was as beautiful and elegant just how I've always thought it would be.
IMG_0126-S.jpg

I mean, who grew up in the 80's and 90's and didn't want to stay at the GF after watching the Full House WDW special over and over?

I wrote on a thread somewhere here about everyone having their achievements towards the "golden spoon" in their forum signature (Awarded after eating at every restaurant on property). I said there should be a golden pillow for staying at every resort at least once. I would LOVE to accomplish this someday. (Too bad I lost this last powerball jackpot).

I should note here that we were supposed to boat it over to Wilderness Lodge because I've always wanted to see it in person, especially at Christmas. Time was running low before ADR reservation for dinner and it was wet and cold outside.

Next stop, bus to AK and then a quick bus to AKL. I had this picture of the lobby at xmas as my desktop background at work for 3 months before our trip and I was determined to see it in person.

(Raincoat blues)

The resort was BEAUTIFUL and stunning and I would kill to be able to afford staying here, even if it's a split stay trip! DGF loves giraffes so this would be extra special for her. This is a hint to our next adventure, I surprised her with GIRAFFES outside the back of the resort!

She was SO happy for her surprise giraffe sightings. There were 2 feeding right in front of us at the time. The look on her face was priceless. Especially after she found her very own giraffe mickey ears! AKL has an amaaaaaazing gift shop. There was so much that we wanted to buy. I am a Disney pin collector so I found a few here that I put on my "wish list".

I did have plans to check out AofA and POP, POP being the last resort we stayed at (and loved it). Time just didn't allow for it this trip, unfortunately.

We took the first bus available to us at AKL and it was going to Hollywood Studios where we caught a boat over to the Swan/Dolphin.

I loved these resorts as a kid, we stayed there for 2 or 3 nights I believe in 2004. I was surprised to find no Christmas decorations really there. Originally we had Il Mulino ADR booked for this trip but I changed it last minute for Trattoria al Forno. We walked a very gloomy and wet Boardwalk back to the resort. DGF was having a rough day. She came down with a nasty congested cough, began losing her voice, AND she found a small hole in the sole of her sneaker, getting her sock wet with each step.

Disney's Yacht Club was very stunning too at Christmas.

We returned back to the resort and DGF really needed a nap. We got to bed rather late the night before our very early flight. I showered before dinner and we both napped for a while. (To the lovely music on the Disney TV channel). I absolutely LOVE every channel they offer at the resorts. I was a big fan of Stacey when she would host the specials. I like duffy the bear's bedtime story, I'll even watch an ABD or DVC information channel.

We took pictures at the Boardwalk Resort on our way to dinner and browsed some of the shops.

Dinner at Trattoria al Forno was very nice. Our waitress was extremely friendly. It appeared that we missed the dinner rush for our 7pm ADR. DGF ordered the spinach ravioli's and I ordered the Chicken Parmagiana. (A sin for a true Italian to order Chicken Parm but hey! I'm on vacation). I neglected to take any meal photos. In reality, looking back I should have spent less $$ for dinner and just done a counter service somewhere.

Now back to all of the plans that I mistakenly got overexcited about. I wanted to get the Mickey Pants sundae at Beaches & Cream before coming back over to JellyRolls Dualing Piano Bar for drinks and music. I bit off more than I could chew and we didn't have time (or stomachs) for any of it. We were wet and tired and settled on a small sundae to share at Beaches & Cream.

We came back to BC and ate our sundae at the cute little tables they had next to their marketplace. I inhaled that amazing sundae. The fudge was perfect temperature to compliment the cold ice cream. It was heaven. We gave short reports back home to each of our families and went up for bed. I was a good BF and drew DGF a hot bath since she still felt under the weather. On the door were our checkout instructions and transfer confirmations for Port Canaveral and DCL!!! We could also hear and seem some of two different fireworks shows. I think it was HS and also some Illuminations.

EDIT: I forgot to include one of my favorite GIF's to add to the fact that I woke up super early on this morning, waaaay before she did. I sat on my phone reading other people's TR's

In the morning, we had 9:00AM reservations for Cape May Cafe's character breakfast.

I got my glorious Mickey waffles that I waited 2 years for! The breakfast was great. Character interaction was solid. All of the children around us got to see characters once, if not twice. This is a nice low-key breakfast that gives you the same characters and a similar meal as Chef Mickey's (Very popular and expensive). Minnie loved my shirt and Nicole's necklace and Goofy almost took my head off with his nose! :rotfl:

After breakfast, we still had 2 hours until our meeting at 11:45 with our DCL rep for boarding the bus. We walked around Stormalong Bay (we sadly never got to swim, but contemplated quickly getting a dip now). It was SO cool but so was the temps so we just toured it and took some pictures.

After our tour, we returned to the hotel room for a little while. Oops, Mousekeeping had already been there even thought we hadn't checked out yet. We hung on the porch for a half hour or so and enjoyed the warming weather and slight view of Epcot and HS Tower of Terror.

Next part of our journey will be the Disney Cruise Line beginning! Stay Tuned.
