Dollar manager special

Looks like we will be using Dollar in a couple of weeks. The Managers Special is the least expensive with the hopes of getting an upgrade. Who here has rented that option and what car did you end up with? Our other options would be a compact SUV. Last time we rented that class and got a Chevy Trailblazer which was fine for us. Hoping the cheaper option could get us a larger car. Thanks!

Generally with the Manager's Special you end up with either a compact or a 12 passenger van. You get whatever car class they are having problems renting. If either of those options aren't going to work for you I'd pay the extra to get whatever class you are comfortable with.

Not sure whether all personal car insurance policies and all credit card collision coverages cover unusual vehicles that might include large passenger vans. The rental company is not responsible for giving you a car that your insurance will cover and you may have to elect the rental company's collision or other insurance to have coverage.

But the rental company is required to give you an automatic transmission car if that is what they customarily give.
