Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

That stinks. Whenever we are at WDW during the summer months, we do laundry halfway through the week. I've actually come to appreciate it, because I'll retire to the laundry facility with a nice adult beverage and my laptop. No one comes along because laundry in need of folding is like kryptonite to my kids.

I'm the exact opposite. I own a rescue boat business, so August 1st means we're halfway through the insanity. Soon, I'll be able to go back to eating dinner at home and seeing my wife and kids on a regular basis.

You have my respect and sympathy. We had flash flood warnings last weekend and an alert telling people to stay of the creeks and not kayak. First headline Sunday morning was about two kayakers rescued from that stream.

Thank you. I read somewhere the boat ride was 40 minutes! I would have had to walk if that was true.
It can take 30 - 35 minutes from Epcot - HS in total time, but the YC/BC to HS is around 20 minutes. The route is EC > BW > YC/BC > S/D > HS. Reverse that for return trip.

FYI used the Minnie van service today from BC. Booked it on app car was already there. Was quick friendly and worth the 20 bucks as it dropped us at bus stop at MK and we made rd no problem. Happy with it

Did Disney cast members have to do something for you before you were able to request the MinnieVan? An article suggested that Bell Services has to do something before you can see the Minnie Vans as an option on the Lyft app. But it didn't say what.

A pop-up appeared on the my Disney experience app yesterday asking me to put my phone number in to access Minnie van service. I did and had no problem ordering one today

Here now first time since last summer and so disappointed to learn they don't do the changing of the guard at 4 o'clock anymore. No more Cupid shuffle :(

I haven't used it but was prompted by new so to download lyft app for the Minnie van. I just opened it up to try. Both regular lyft cars and the Minnie van showed as options. The van was a 4 minute wait.

Sorry, I'm getting information overload here trying to read and digest all the info... While we've done many WDW trips in the past, the last one in June '17, in 60 days we are headed to our first YC stay, and first CL stay too (Disney's Yacht Club Resort - Garden View - Club Level)...

As I try to learn about CL, I've got some of the basics... Like there is a special CL check-in desk when we get off the Magical Express. And Disney Signature Services are available to us since we have a confirmed reservation (as was available to us as soon as we confirmed?). The Club Lounge is available to us (magicband to get in) and its on the 5th floor, etc.

For on-line check in, I only have the option for ground, upper or lower floors. I'm guessing we'll pick upper.

What I'm really having the hardest time with is what to select for a room request as we get closer. I've looked at many threads, including one with lots of pictures of the view and rooms. I've consulted Touring Plans room finder, but find little in the way of "Garden View CL" options (like less than 10 including both queen and king rooms).

If TP selection when filtering is accurate, I guess that makes it relatively simple. But if its not, does anyone have a suggestion on a good room (number) to request? With Food & Wine, Epcot's 35th, MNSSHP, we'll be spending much of our time in Epcot. We'll also be hitting the other parks... I don't like to walk in the resort (i.e. short walk to elevator, food, buses to parks, pool) and like a good view as possible...

This was the most helpful article I read on the Minnie Vans. According to it, Bell Services does have to activate it.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

A few comments about YC CL GV (which I booked for my last trip in October 2016)

As you point out, the rooms are all on the 5th floor (accessible by elevator using your magic band)- that is where you will find the check in desk. Hopefully someone will meet you in the lobby and escort you up there, but if not, you just need to use your band.

The online check-in options do not make sense since you will be on the 5th floor. I didn't bother with the selection

There are a limited number of rooms in this category- just 5. Four of them look out onto the wedding gazebo and one looks out on the back entrance (lakeside) courtyard.

5148
5150
5152
5154

(all are facing gazebo facing away from Epcot, making it difficult to see water well )

5198

(back entrance courtyard view)

Prior to the renovation, a couple of the rooms had king beds and the rest had 2 queens. If that is something important to you, you can request that.

I think all of the rooms in the YC CL GV category are pretty close to the lounge/elevator to the lobby and therefore will minimize your walk through the resort

:thumbsup2

Awesome. Great info! Thank you!!

Is it safe to think the King bed rooms have day bed? (its my wife, our 9 yr old son, and I) If so then 5198 appears to have the "best" view, so its worth asking for that, and fall back to the others... Can't wait to go!!

It sounds like as long as you are a registered guest at Yacht/Beach or Boardwalk, and log into your MDE/Lyft, it should work without Bell Services. Bell Services just has to verify you are a guest at those resorts, which is tied to your MDE already= you just have to click on the Lyft link from there?, and obviously wdwlver was able to do it just through the app.

I also see in that article that it does say No Tipping, Please.

I miss the changing of the guard too :(
Think it's sad to see Disney cut back on things like this as oftentimes they are the very things that make staying on site special.

I didn't ask about the water, other than to ask the lounge staff if there was any bottled water at all and they said no, none at all. I did tip mousekeeping daily, and she was great about making sure we had extra towels and such so figured if it was part of the room it would have been there. Has anybody at YC had the water in room?

We got fresh bottled water every day this past July

I also see in that article that it does say No Tipping, Please.

It makes sense, as the CMs are paid hourly, and I believe policy is that unless you are a CM that is a Server or Mousekeeping, you can't take a tip.

Also, if you look at the screenshots in the article, it asks you to rate 'Minnie Van 23', rather than the drivers name. This would imply that vans are shared among CMs, and the Device is kept in the van rather than with the individual. This prevents the right individual getting the right tip.

I don't know what the bedding layout is in any of these rooms since the renovation this year, so until we get direct reports from guests, we won't know for sure.

I thought most of the king rooms had a daybed, but I think someone recently stayed in one at the resort and had to request a rollaway cot for their child.

IMHO, you can't go wrong with any of the rooms in your booking category, so go ahead and request that and even if you don't get it, I think you will be happy.

:goodvibes

The bolded part is what I do not understand. PPs have indicated that you do not need any Disney cast member to do anything from a technology point of view in order to request a Minnie Van from the Lyft app. You use the app like you normally would; you just request the Minnie Van when you choose a vehicle. One PP said they took a Minnie Van and never spoke to or saw Bell Services. So I'm not sure why we are reading (as this PP did) that Bell Services has something to do with ability to take a Minnie Van.

As someone that has stayed many times at YC CL I will say this. I have stayed in all the YC CL GV rooms. The rooms facing the gazebo are the best and the view of the water is actually excellent in two of them. The two closest to the boardwalk it is too hard to see over this railing support obstruction on the balcony but the view still pretty. the other two are the best of the 4 as they provide a great view with barely a lean on the balcony! Having said all that, one you have a room you are pretty much assigned to that. NOT A lot of flex in this category simply b/c there are no rooms to switch you to. My biggest hang up in this rooms, which not a factor here but is at at BC CL GV, they connect and are noisy. You will enjoy any room at YC CL GV but I would recommend overlooking gazebo
